Question is a hieroglyphic - but there IS another song on Midnights with some truly mysterious, baffling energy... (Patreon)

Tucked away and hidden in the darkest depths of the 3AM edition (of which there is still no physical copy to purchase which blows my fucking mind) is a little ditty by the name of GLITCH. With a lot of the love songs that Taylor put on Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights, the immediate assumption is that they were about Joseph. The turkey. We had to work with the information we were given, and the information that we were given was that she was in love with the turkey!!! I kind of took that at face value. Plus, a lot of the theming in the song is similar to shit she says in other songs that are CERTAINLY about the Jobless Man, like Gorgeous.
Up until very recently I would've still argued that the song was meant to be about Joe, although there have been a great many other theories proposed. The song also has a very obvious fruity energy to it, so the Gaylors claimed it as a Kaylor song and I just let them rock, because I sort of get it. The song is vague and bizarre enough that it could be attributed to a great many number of individuals, honestly - the only direct reference to any time period that she makes is "it's been 2,190 days of our love blackout", which is, again, a HIEROGLYPHIC ON THE ROSETTA STONE. Some people did the math, and discovered that 2,190 days before the release date of Midnights led to a date that was HIGHLY KAYLOR ASSOCIATED. The exact date led to the last time Karlie and Taylor were seen in public together. The problem with that is, Taylor was getting photographed with a lot of people in a lot of different places in 2016 - the fact that it led directly to Karlie is likely just a coincidence.
Worth it to note that 2,190 days also just translates to six years, and at the time of Midnights' release, Joe and Taylor had been together for six years. So you know, there is that!!!
But it would also be six years from when she was last attached to Matty Healy in the public eye. Now you see what I mean about this detail being more of a cryptid than it is anything the fuck else, because girlie was making MOVES in 2016.
The song is overall about situationships in general, and how sometimes a thing that was meant to be absolutely nothing becomes a very big something. Again, that is something she has alluded to in reference to her relationship with Joe A LOT in other songs about him, so we have to throw him that bone.
But. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think she would refer to her relationship with Joe as a "glitch." To me, Glitch means a blip. A cigarette burn on the film. "A brief interruption, a slight malfunction," if you will. It sounds like it's more about a one night stand, or a brief fling she may have had, more than it's about a long term relationship that came from a situationship, like Joe did.
An interesting term that she uses in the song is "love blackout" - it's been 2,190 days of our love blackout. It would be a lot more solid evidence for Matty if she had said it's been 2,190 days SINCE our love blackout, but she does say OF, which implies that the love blackout is still ongoing.
But a love blackout does not necessarily mean a relationship. It could also, just maybe, refer to a little voice in the back of her head that's been whispering to her...can I ask you a qUESTION....? A question about the what could have been, if both of us were in better places, if the stars had aligned just right underneath the blood moon, if you were emotionally ready for it, and if I weren't in the messiest time period of my entire life?
Food for thought!! xoxo gossip girl
