I was just in the discord doing a little viewing party of Zack's latest Swiftologist video with the girls, gays, and theys... (Patreon)

and to say that we were all UTTERLY GAGGED by his re-ordering of the Speak Now tracklist would be a fucking understatement. When he put Foolish One as TRACK NUMBER ONE of the entire record the tomatoes that were thrown were CATASTROPHIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to even MENTION giving the fabled track two slot to Electric Touch...ohh he was on another level....
Though we do respect Zack's affinity for storytelling and the vision he had for the new Speak Now tracklist (including him benevolently allowing Timeless to stay in the kingdom...we stan a generous king), everyone asked if I would make my own tracklist in response and I thought that sounded MOST interesting - so here is my re-ordered and edited tracklist for Speak Now including the vaults!! I'm a bit more of a purist when it comes to the tracklists and do generally stick to her original plan, btu I do have SOME thoughts....
1.) Sparks Fly. I've always thought that Sparks Fly should open the record even though I kind of understood why she went with Mine as a thesis statement. But like, Sparks Fly would open the record with "drop everything now" which is a State of Grace, Ready For It throat-clearing type of a moment.
2.) Mine!!! I feel like track 2's on Taylor records are underrated for their slots - like, more often than not, track 2 goes fucking ballistic. Mine definitely deserves this spot.
3.) Back To December. After two HUGE numbers I think she was really correct to put this slower song in the third slot.
4.) Haunted. Now hear me out....................LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!! Back To December into Haunted would go so fucking insane, you can't deny that they are in a way thematically linked.
5.) Dear John. THE track five of all track fives. The track five to end the other track fives. She keeps her crown.
6.) Enchanted. I kind of like the idea of Taylor going from such a low place, maybe even thinking that love couldn't be possible again because of what happened in Dear John, to going right back into believing because of a chance encounter that was truly magical. Very on brand for Speak Now.
7.) Mean. Just a little palette cleanser
8.) Better Than Revenge. For the fucking laugh of it all. "Why you gotta be so mean...." DIRECTLY INTO "now go stand in the corner and THINK about what you did....." LIKE DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE THE VISION??????????
9.) Speak Now. Just a one, two, three punch of calling an old white man pathetic and a loser for being mean to her, into slut shaming Camilla Belle for stealing her man, then we finish with Taylor stealing someone else's man. AT THE ALTAR NO FUCKING LESS. It's all about the STORY. The TRUE HYPOCRISY of being a young woman trying to figure yourself out in the cold world. She was valid for that!!!
10.) Never Grow Up. Now after all that chaos and mayhem we have to be reminded that time will inevitably pass and we will all inevitably grow older and move on from things that we once held so dear to us all..........
11.) When Emma Falls In Love. I love the idea of Never Grow Up and WEFIL being linked together because the youthfulness of them both is very endearing and sweet, they really sit well together on a tracklist.
12.) and now...back to...this bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press TIMELESS, what's good?!?!?!?! I think Timeless really does belong on Speak Now and even the Swiftologist agrees even though he is a Timeless detractor!!! We can't possibly deny that it just BELONGS here.
13.) Story of Us. I love the idea of Timeless and Story of Us piggybacking on each other - like, first we start off with the idea that love stories can go across generations and happen anywhere, anytime, and there are no limitations on love. Then we go into how love stories can end badly, and sadly.
14.) Last Kiss. I'm just sticking her wherever I'm not quite sure WHERE I want to put her, but I know it's not second to last!!!
15.) Ours.
16.) Foolish One. I love the idea of this being the penultimate song, and I'm not quite sure why. I agree with Zack that there's something REALLY fundamentally Speak Now and thesis statement-ish about this song, especially considering where she was mentally at this time in her life, but I think it's better suited to being closer to the end.
17.) Long Live as a closer, no matter what!!!
I cut Electric Touch, Castles Crumbling, Innocent, and I Can See You. TO ME... I Can See You has no business being on Speak Now and you can all argue with the wall on that one. Not even saying it's a bad song, it just literally does not fit here. Castles Crumbling you guys already know it's not for me. Electric Touch I'm so sorry after all the years I begged and clamored for a FOB feature I just don't think you add anything to the record that hasn't already been covered. Innocent...I mean come on. LMFAO!!!
I also cut Superman just to stand in solidarity with Zack as he did with me on Timeless...we have to give each other these small mercies sometimes...
