Okay everyone, gather around for the nominations for the near-defunct MTV Video Music Awards!! (Patreon)

This show used to be a WAY fucking bigger deal than it is now. Frankly, they used to be creating an entertaining show where they could legitimately gather the biggest names in entertainment in general (not just music!!!) and now they are simply creating the Taylor Swift and Beyonce Red Carpet Live Experience. I mean.......................really. LMFAO. I find the entire concept of the VMA's entirely fucking outdated and superfluous but you know what??? Moves were made this year. 

Taylor is up for Video of the Year for Anti-Hero, alongside Miley for Flowers, Doja Cat for Attention, SZA for Kill Bill, Sam Smith and Kim Petras for Unholy, Olivia Rodrigo for Vampire, and Nicki Minaj for Super Freaky Girl. 

My top predictions : really it should be SZA let's get ONE THING FUCKING CLEAR...........IT SHOULD BE SZA..............Anti-Hero could take it though, and Olivia could also take it. Doja even being nominated is like ummm okay queen go off!!!!!!!!! Unholy........cricket...........and Nicki Minaj Idk they just like throwing her bones 

Taylor is also up for Artist of the Year alongside BEYONCE, Doja, KAROL G, Nicki Minaj, and Shakira. 

Beyonce should probably take this one because Renaissance tour is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! And so was the record itself!!!!!!!!! Although at the same time, losing AOTY at the Grammy's and then being handed a fucking VMA as a consolation prize is like....cricket....but she really should take it. Eras tour is also huge though, we have to admit it....

Taylor is up for SONG OF THE YEAR for Anti-Hero, as well as Kill Bill, Flowers, Unholy, Vampire, Calm Down by Selena and Rema, and Bad Habit by Steve Lacy. 

Another one that SZA should take let's be honest...but Vampire is huge, and Flowers idk I think it's a good song and it was really big on Tik Tok and beyond so perhaps?? As for Anti-Hero oh fuck it you never know...

For Best Pop (song?? video?? NO CLARIFICATION) Taylor is once again up for Anti-Hero with Dua Lipa's Dance the Night, Ed Sheeran's Eyes Closed, Flowers, Vampire, and randomly a Pink song??? Pink is not winning. Not on my fucking watch. 

Flowers could take this one, but Vampire is a stronger contender than any of them in my opinion. 

Taylor is also up for art direction and cinematography for the Anti-Hero video which I don't think will be televised, but still pretty cool!!!! 

Do you guys think Taylor will win in any of the major categories / does she deserve to win over the other competition...??? RESPOND BELOW PLEASE MY SNAKES!!!

Controversial opinion, I don’t think anti-hero deserves any award 👀 maybe for cinematography but as a song it’s not that impressive. There are a lot of much better songs on midnights. I’m surprised bejeweled isn’t getting this treatment.

I mean Vampire really wasn't that big though. It was only number one for one week and it BARELY made it to the top. I don't really think it's that strong a contender...as for Taylor I mean I think she could win almost all of them. VMAs may not want to piss swifties off so they'll give her a good amount.

in my honest opinion, i don’t think it would be fair to anyone if olivia won for vampire in any category since that song literally just dropped. miley ain’t all that but flowers gave her a great revival with the locals. but let’s be fr, she’s gonna win bc she has the power of the teeny boppers on her side 🥰🙏🏻

VMAs are fan-voted right?? Cause if so I fear it’s a Taylor and Olivia sweep… I don’t see their competition’s fanbases showing up in droves to vote 20 times a day or whatever. If it’s somewhat controlled by MTV and not entirely fan decided (which I’m sure is the case), I can see them wanting to tip the scales in Taylor’s favour and give her a rake of awards so they can capitalise on their history with her + her insane popularity rn. I’m not sure what categories she’d win but I want SZA getting at LEAST one… and Miley should get none because Flowers was below her standard for a lead single frankly … at the end of the day these are truly nothing awards in this day and age though. Lol!!

I think if Taylor shows up, she is winning LOL On a real note tho, she has a strong chance winning most of these because she is so big right now and she brings in the viewers. Anti-Hero is super popular and the mv is probably one of the best that is directed by her. They haven't announced vanguard award winner yet and she as a strong chance of winning that which she will be forced to do a live performance which hasn't done at an award show in a while now! I'm excited for this and hopefully she doesn't flop on the red carpet.

I feel like it’s going to be the Taylor/Beyonce show (or at least it should be because come ON they’re both massive right now), but I could see vampire taking some wins as well….even though it just dropped basically yesterday but yeah sure “___ of the year!” 🤠

I'm sensing a tay sweep because with the eras tour and her being at the height of her career rn, she's probably super hard to get so they might give her wins in most of her categories so she attends. Hell, she's already the most nominated artist this year so it's not really a fair competition.

Anti Hero is better than Vampire lyrically and production wise. It's the better song and It's extremely popular among even Casual Fans everyone knows Anti Hero. I think it will beat Vampire for best pop.For Song of the Year, while SZA is a strong contender I think Anti Hero will take. It truly was Song of the Year. It's everywhere on TikTok, radio, streams, and popularity in general. It's also a really great song from a lyrical standpoint.

The Eras Tour is soo huge and Taylor is truly everywhere right now I can't see Beyonce beating her for Artist of the Year.

No WAY is Beyonce beating Taylor for aoty not based on personal opinion but based on relevancy. I bet if I asked someone not very pop culture oriented "do you know what Beyonce's tour is called?" they wouldn't even know she's on tour. You know what they would know? The Eras Tour. This tour is Woodstock. Also Taylor has never been hours late to stage for her own show like Beyonce does just for funzies. so honestly Beyonce can sit down

Great points Zack as usual……. My only confusion is I though VMAs were about videos, and the artist of the year category is supposed to be based on male/female video of the year. So, how can this be if Beyonce hasn’t put out a video? So, I’m unclear on the criteria for the award. It just seems to be popularity then. I agree about Sza.

This is where I draw the line… people, now even swifties keep denying Taylor’s impact in 2023. She’s the most popular artist right now, Renaissance tour won’t even do half of what the eras tour would do, why should she win artist of the year? Just bc she’s Beyoncé? 💀

While it would be nice to give some other artists a chance to win something, I am honestly only concerned with Taylor flying as high as she can for as long as she can; the others can have their chance once she cools off. I'm not very familiar with many of the other artists anyway. So, my strategy has been to vote for Taylor for everything she is nominated for, and if there are any artists whose work I enjoy that are nominated in a non-Taylor category (especially if they are TSCU-adjacent) then I'll vote for them. Sorry not sorry.

y’all put some respect on Beyoncé name!!!!!!!!👑 Renaissance is groundbreaking. tour is beyond incredible, dancers and visuals are unbelievable and her talent is unmatched!!!!!! 20+ years of cultural relevancy, I could go on. Obviously we know Taylor is at the top of her game as well but come on, I can’t be the only Bey fan here?!

I definitely think Beyonce and Taylor are tied for artist of the year!! It’s too hard to know until it happens! But I do think Taylor will take it. The eras tour is just so huge. Also I want vampire to win something cause it goes so hard 🫶🏼

I'm a big fan of Beyonce and she's had an amazing year but Taylor is undeniably THE artist of this year and I think it's a bit silly to argue otherwise. The Renaissance Tour is epic but Eras is something else as far as demand, profits, and cultural penetration go, and Taylor is just on a different level right now. I think that that will become even clearer once the Eras US leg reports gross. Anti-Hero should absolutely not be winning Video of the Year tho.
