Here is the recording of the event on discord where I sorted all the songs from Folklore and Evermore into different categories based on how fictional or non-fictional I thought they all were. the thing with the coney island lines is that, if we follow the theory, the parts where she sings means that she was the one that caused the breakup (taylor, calvin), and when matt sings it is supposed to symbolize that the guy in the situation was the one to blame (jake, john, harry). i’m not saying this is true, just saying it’s what I read online…

Welllllll. Okay. This is total brain rot but here we go. I'll just give some lyrics that make me think of the haylor relationship first. "When you are young they assume you know nothing" (they were young), "sensual politics" (politics and gender roles), "CHASE two girls, lose THE ONE" (just like i had been when you were chasing me) (the 1 duh), "once in 20 lifetimes" (does it feel like everything's just like second best after that meteor strike?) "marked me like a bloodstain" (wine stained dress i can't wear anymore), "peter losing wendy" (he was more immature than her in committing etc), "I knew you'd haunt all of my what ifs", "i knew you'd miss me and the thrill expired and you'd be standing in my front porch light and I knew you'd come back to me" (how you get the girl & these hands had to let it go free and this love came back to me), and also the whole "when i felt like an old cardigan under sometimes bed you put me on and said i was your favourite" is very much like style. also betty has how you get the girl energy. idk it just makes sense to me but idkkkk

Watching this back on 7/25/25 and hearing the convo about “the one” and how it seemed like it was about Harry at the time, but now knowing (allegedly) it’s more about Matty is INTERESTING. Then, you tied it to “Is It Over Now?” and brought up “seeing your smile on unsuspecting waiters,” my brain immediately jumped to “Help, I’m still at the restaurant.” 😳💥 I know I'm in the meth lab rabbit hole now but ....
