But trust me I am painfully aware of the fact that this conversation is going to be beat, and beat, and beat utterly to death in the next two weeks before the Super Bowl - probably most notably on that RANCID Reddit page SwiftlyNeutral (the audio recording of the discord event where I had a mental collapse over being forced to read the posts on there will be up in the next few days) where they will all circlejerk over what a horrible person she is for boarding her jet.

It's never been mine or Zack's opinion that Taylor is a horrible person for using her jet, neither have either of us ever thought that she just SHOULDN'T USE IT at all and should commit herself to a life of paper straws and recycled water - but both of our opinions has always been that she simply Uses It Too Much. She has cut back on it a lot (I think she finally stopped letting Jack use it to go zooming into the Baseball Card Hall of Fame or whatever he used it for before) but I do think it's a FAIR critique that the most unnecessary flights she's taken this past  year have been for .. . . . . football games . . .. .....

Using her jet to fly for tour : we clap we cheer

Using her jet to fly home for like Christmas and to see her family and shit : well yes!!

Using her jet to get to work-related events like the Grammys and etc : precisely!!

Using her jet for dick appointments and to see Brittany Mahomes : .....james.....

Neeowwww we could get into all the numbers of how much money she's raking in for the NFL and that her appearances at games aren't just her going to have dates with Travis and really there's more to it - I think she genuinely has the time of her life at the games, gets to hang out with friends, gets to dunk on misogynistic jackasses by just existing, and also gets to see her boyfriend. Is she not allowed to do that from time to time?!?!

But now we have reached the Super Bowl and as much as people seem to hate Patrick Mahomes (didn't know this...did not know this...my entire family including Mason was booing the prospect of them going to the super bowl again. I thought he was like #1 football boy that everyone loved, but I guess they're all sick of him TBH I KINDA GET IT...IS HE THE ONLY FOOTBALL PLAYER WITH BRAND DEALS? Why is his face in EVERY commercial?? Nevertheless...) they persisted and are going to the super bowl. Frankly I really enjoyed the game yesterday, incidentally Travis is perhaps really good at football. I don't watch entire games usually but I have before, and more to the point in my life I've seen probably a cumulative days' worth of football, but that game was really, really entertaining, thanks in large part to him. I mean I'm parasocialing a bit but like he's pretty good....and he was clocked in yesterday....anyways I'm getting away from the point which is that they are going to the Super Bowl and Taylor will almost definitely rearrange her life to be there. (I would, to be fair to her)

Taylor has a show in Tokyo (YAAASSS ERAS TOUR) the night before the game, on February 10th. At first glance it seems utterly impossible for her to be at the Super Bowl the next day in Vegas on February 11th - but you have to account for the 17 hour time difference. If she boards her jet literally right after the show is over (she does this more often than you think) she can be in Vegas mid-morning. Girls. There is not a doubt in my mind she is going to do this. Not a singular doubt. None. And again, I reiterate, I WOULD!!!!! Her being there is a huge boost for her, the tour (not that she needs it), if she announces RepTv in Tokyo which there's only a chance she might it's a boost for that as well, AND it's a boost in ratings for the NFL (wouldn't be surprised if they got down on their knees and begged her to go). Not going when she has the ability to do so makes no sense, considering she's done equally as crazy shit for way less important games this season.

But that's sort of the crux of the issue; it wouldn't bother me literally at all if she hadn't already done this multiple times over the course of the season. As it is, I'm a braindead Swiftie first and a braindead Tayvis second so frankly I nearly wouldn't care if she has to release toxic gas into the air in order to be there, but that's because I'm a fool. Other people are not fools. I fear this is a very, very fair thing to criticize her for, lots of people will cook her for it, and I shan't be defending her. I'll be there like a seal clapping and arfing for the Tayvis every time it's on my screen WELL YES I WILL BE!! But I'm not going to sit up there and defend her right to do any of this jaogaerjgoirj like come on...it IS absurd...it IS ridiculous....but I'm helpless and defenseless against it!!!

That said, any and all news articles about this nonsense will be eaten up by the sheer oversaturation of Tayvis, Tayvis, Tayvis, frankly, win or lose. If they win yaayyy king and queen of the prom!! If they lose omfgggg how is Taylor comforting Travis in the wake of this devastating loss!?!?! We can't lose girls...WE can't lose....During and immediately after the Super Bowl nobody will care and those that do will be drowned out. I only post this here because I know the snakes can handle thoughtful, nuanced conversations about Taylor and can find the middle ground between being her total slave and servant and supporting her every move OR riding the SwiftlyNeutral train and calling her a horrible person for doing something many, many other rich people do every day and get away with.

I love Taylor and I think she makes a concerted effort to reduce her emissions, genuinely I think she has put in the effort to reduce where she can... but I also think she's dickmatized and is addicted to going to the games and would not miss this for the entire world.

What do you guys think?!?!

(bonus take from Mason : when I was talking to him about this his only response was that if most of the people who are criticizing her very heavily about this COULD ride their private jet everywhere, they would...and I was kinda speechless because I was like you might be right...lmfao)

I really gotta stop being the first person here 🤣 also massive LOLs from calling the greatest tight end in history “pretty good”… the humbling of straight men must never cease. Once again- bravoooo 👏 another entertaining read

Rachel Bullock

Honestly a thoroughly fair take all around (including Mason's!) 🗣️

Swiftologist

I'M CRYINGGG I KNOW like I knew people (men) were like he's THE BEST THERE'S EVER BEEN!!! But I still was like pretty gagged by him...I was like wow they might be right...

CyrusNomadix

Thank you for talking about this, Madeline. Looking forward to the SwiftlyNeutral audio since I missed the event for a job interview that went on longer than I thought 😅

Olivia Donovan

She’s dickmatized for sure and you know she’ll be there. The big question is whether she’ll return home in between Australian dates now THAT would be further than being tayvis braindead.. that would be full fledged disregard for the planet. Hoping she doesn’t do that but snakes.. I am going on an Etsy spree tomorrow and throwing a big Taylor x Travis chiefs nation Super Bowl party. Excited is an understatement!

pam

i think the jetsetting for casual games feels, at this point, excessive. however re: the superbowl in particular, that is an extremely special moment, and i totally understand why taylor would want to be there. i would be happy for her and travis if things worked out so that she could be there. i agree with you; i also think she will make it happen. if i were her, i would make it happen. but i think the nagging thing, for me, is that it shouldn't reasonably be possible for it to happen. if taylor were someone else — if she were even another celebrity — it might not be possible. and every time we inevitably see a shot of her at the game, every headline i scan about her presence, there will be a reminder of how the impossible is somehow feasible for people who enjoy the privilege of a category of wealth that should not exist. idk, it's a dialectic, right? excitement for her getting to be there to cheer on her man and her team of choice v. the frustration at the class disparity.

Sara Sweet

I’m happy you guys disapprove of that subreddit. It is funny thought because they often hype up your channel in there 😂 I’m like nonono… not the mental illness

shannymac

So let’s assume she *doesn’t* go to the Super Bowl (she absolutely will, she was running on the field with his family yesterday decked out in AFC gear)…what would she do instead? Stay in Tokyo, go to the next stop (Australia), stay somewhere in between? At this point I kind of expect her to be going home in between each international stop tbh, it’s what she’s been doing so far…not saying it’s right to do so… Also there’s an article on The Athletic (behind a paywall unfortunately, I can access it with my NYT subscription) detailing her possible flight routes to get from Tokyo to the Super Bowl. Imagine having to write such an article, and it’s LONG. Supposedly there are no slots to land in Vegas that weekend but if someone can make it happen, it’s the HBIC. The article goes on to detail some alternate options…again, it’s super long (even longer than my comment here).

Sydney Shepard

I agree with you that she's not evil for using her private jet. Like what is she supposed to do most of the time, it would honestly be a big security risk if she were to fly commercial with all of us hounds. But I think it's a fair criticism to make of her and her use of the jet and how many "useless" times she has used it because, as Madeline do eloquently put, she's "dickmatized." I personally am excited to see her at the superbowl and I have just come to terms with the fact that if she can go, she's going and there's nothing in the private jet use discourse that is going to stop her from going. I think Mason hit the nail on the head too with what he said. Honestly I wonder if there is a solution like not only carbon taxing private jet users, but maybe even fining them depending on the amount of usage they use it in a year or if they go over an approved amount of waste in a year? Just some food for thought. At the end of the day EYE too am a brain dead swiftie, brain dead tayvis overdoser second and I can't want to see our peoples princess with her himbo prince at the superbowl.

Laura

Mansion is speaking facts.

thalia

you guys made me go check that subreddit one time and now i keep getting email updates from reddit on it. truly i am cursed

Candace Tirado

If she doesn’t go to the Super Bowl, everyone will say the broke up lol. That’s the cycle. Also- we know she was going to fly back between touring cities anyway- she may as well go to the biggest sporting event on earth and support her man

Cara M

In the grand scheme of things, her jet is a raindrop in a river in it’s impact. What annoys me is that 99% of the people harping on about it don’t come for any other people or corporations who do the same or far worse. It comes off as an obvious disingenuous “gotcha” almost every time. I mean I don’t see these people coming for politicians or royalties who fly private (Taylor is just as famous and important lets be real) let alone the true corporate ecoterrorists. It’s just the hypocrisy and double standards that make me not believe these people actually care. Like that Violet Grohl girl taking a shot at the jets in the middle of the AI situation (tacky af timing) while her dad has 2 private jets and has spoken of using them to take her to school dances. Like girl we know you just hate Taylor its okay to admit it

madfem

I mean Mason's argument just illustrates why we're in this dire environmental situation in the first place. People will *do* something just because they *can*... not caring about the repercussions at all as long as they're happening far enough from them geographically or timeframe wise.

Swiftologist

LMFAO I LOVE ITTT tayvis themed superbowl party well we have to cheer

Cara M

On another note, I think Travis will join her on tour during his off season which will drastically cut back on back and forth flights- i am begging on my knees for international pap pics of them

Cara M

Travis can join her after the Superbowl for a couple months of off season and they can do cute tourist stuff

Swiftologist

This is a really good point. Like it SHOULDN'T be possible for her to be in Tokyo one night and Vegas the next morning. Even if she were flying commercial I think that would be a talllll order

Swiftologist

GOODBYE!!!!!!!! I mean one time a commenter was like "I love the lizard review" and I said okay maybe this place ain't so bad after all......

Candace Tirado

Fkgujshahxhajaj 😭 🤣 ilysm 🤣

Swiftologist

ooofff I would kill for there to be more taxes and regulations placed on private jets. I think it would never fly (mind the pun) in the US, but other countries certainly could make it more expensive and difficult to be zooming around on that thing 24/7

Swiftologist

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN...I've perused it on my phone a couple times out of sheer curiosity and now I get Reddit suggestion notifications like : read this post about how Joe is better than Taylor in all ways? NO!!!

Sydney Shepard

Agreed! North America in general kind of is the land of anything goes who gives a shit about capitalism and the people it's harming, as long as we are number one! But I do think some more progressive countries would be down for taxing the risk and getting a handle on such excessivness like private jet use!

pam

1000% yes!!

MaryRiley

And it’s like… you just hate Taylor and you just hate women it’s so boring.

thalia

like…. taylor slander on twitter, within my family, at the workplace…..and now my inbox 😭✋🏼

Swiftologist

LET US FEAST!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of my FAV relationship pics of taylor of all time are of her and Tom when they were jetsetting around on Roman Holiday.mp3

Laura

The hate that Zack gets for calling himself the swiftoligist and saying midnights does not deserve album of the year vs. swiftly neutral having the gall to call themselves swifties is so backwards. That subreddit is a place of pure Taylor hate at this point

Drose

I think it is especially frustrating to see the swifties that go out of their way to defend Taylor’s use of her private jet by bringing attention to the security risks when the real issue isn’t any use of the jet at all but rather excessive use of the jet. When I see people try to absolve her by solely focusing on the danger it would be it pisses me off because they ignore the entire point that her using it for 20 minute flights or lending it out to friends and family is the really problem at hand.

Swiftologist

well, precisely. Many of the trips she takes, she could drive, and only doesn't because it's more convenient to hop on the jet

Rose Lebeau

Hi snakes, I still dont have access to chatting/interacting in the discord. I don't know why. Can you help? :)

Sarah Gadsden

Related: couldn’t Taylor have driven (or been driven by her team) to Baltimore from New York for yesterday’s game? It’s a 3-3.5 hour drive. Someone on Reddit claimed that it’s not safe for her to drive because she can’t afford for them to be stopped(?). This made little sense to me.

Bonnie Dye

I think the carbon problem is so much bigger than Taylor, and it's really not her responsibility to solve it. She's doing what the government tells her to do - buy carbon emissions credits. In fact, she buys double the required amount. If other countries set up taxes, she would pay them. She's following all the rules. There are huge corporations creating the same types of problems, and it's true they're not necessarily doing it with planes, but they're doing it in completely legal ways by using plastics and other non-biodegradable items. Yes, they've cut back, but our plastics use still has a negative impact on the world. And those corporations pay the same types of requirements that the government has set up for them to pay in order to offset their emissions. I think somebody needs to create a better airplane engine. As much as I think Elon Musk is a horrible person, he could probably do it if the government gave him the right kind of incentives.

Sarah Gadsden

OK someone on Reddit claimed that she could NOT have driven the 3.5 hours to Baltimore yesterday because she needs a motorcade and can’t afford to have to stop(?). What?! Why wouldn’t she be able to drive if she’s able to walk the streets of Manhattan?

Sarah Gadsden

I’m still a tiny bit miffed that she flew back to New York between her Argentina and Brazil sets. Why? Maybe she had some top secret thing that could only be done in New York…? I agree that flying to the Super Bowl would be more palatable to the masses and to the climate if she scaled back other excessive travel

Jen

It’s actually easy, yes I checked but American Airlines leaves at 1pm on the 11th, connects through LAX and lands in Vegas at 09.18am on the 11th and only costs £500! This isn’t completely outwith the realms of what normal people can do, and I would certainly splash out for tickets if my man was playing in the biggest game of his career

TiffK83

My next-door neighbor is a PhD level climatologist. She works in research at a university. I recently had a conversation with her about celebrity jet usage. The expert opinion is that it is making absolutely no difference. I am going to sleep very well giving all my coins to Taylor Swift, and not worry one bit if she uses it on jet fuel. As for how it all looks… In my opinion, her jet usage has been reasonable. She was flying to KC, staying a few days and then flying back to New York with consistency. I think it would look terrible if she had been flying back-and-forth to stay a few hours or one night but she never did that. The drive between New York and KC is rather long.. I guess you could argue that she could have driven from New York to Baltimore yesterday, but her jet did not go back to New York. It went to Nashville. IDK where Taylor physically is but if she did go from New York to Baltimore to Nashville that is not a drive any of us would want to do . Travis’ commitments make it so he could not travel for their entire relationship so far (with the exception of the time we saw them in New York, and in Argentina) if they were going to see each other at all over the past 4 to 5 months, this was the only way. I don’t think it’s been excessive if you really think about it. If they were not together, would she have stayed put in one place this entire break? I doubt it. The one thing she has done over the past few months that I could see being called excessive is flying to London for a photo op with Beyoncé but I don’t hear anyone complaining about that #GirlPower. As for the Super Bowl she’s coming. This is the drama she knows we live for. I don’t know what her plans would have been between Japan and Australia if Tayvis had never happened, but I can’t see her just hanging out somewhere in the for a week waiting around for Australia. She probably would’ve come home anyway. Might as well stop in Vegas and watch your boyfriend win the Super Bowl!

Lindsay

Random point but some people also defend Taylor’s jet use by saying that she buys carbon emissions credits or something to offset her usage….but girls if we could buy our way out of climate change the issue would be solved. Throwing money at it doesn’t solve everything

Spencer

Thank you for speaking some sense into people. I have a degree in and work in the private aviation industry so I find the emissions chaos to be kind of misinformed (considering the article that started all of this shared false data). You are spot on though with the fact that her usage of her aircraft has decreased (although I will say, as someone in the industry, it was never extremely high). In previous years her aircraft would fly around 400 hours a year which may seem like a lot but the average for a private jet is normally around 400-800 hours per year. This past year, even while she is on tour, her aircraft flew only 220 hours. This is not to say I don't think the industry could be more sustainable, I do. One of the main ways is with the use of sustainable aviation fuel which most newer aircraft can operate on. It reduces emissions by up to 80%. Also, aircraft fuel efficiency has improved so much in recent years, there's no doubt in my mind that it will further improve in the future. Specifically for Taylor, the aircraft she owns are about 20% more fuel efficient than similar aircraft which many people don't take into account for when calculating her emissions. She/her team also allegedly already uses a blend of sustainable aviation fuel wherever it is available. There are over 23,000 active private jets in the world, so it seems a little unfair that Taylor is the punching bag for the entire industry. Even then, every private jet's annual emissions combined are only 0.04% of global emissions.....four-hundredths of a percent. Even if private jets were magically abolished, we would see minimal to no difference in annual emissions. I think the public's attention would be better served towards other areas.

Hannah

I know it’s annoying to post about something unrelated here (is there a better place to do this?). But I can’t find the episode that was posted about on IG like a week ago! Is it just not up yet or is it just me?

Hannah

Like not the 2017 part 2, the one beforeeeeee

Monique Ocampo

I personally think that Taylor needs to counter-balance her carbon emissions by contributing to environmental charities and making sure she gets trees planted, etc. I know she can afford that much now that she's a billionaire.

Alba

I don't like that she rides her jet that much and I think it should be cut down even further. However, I think that her low quality merch and the sales tactics (limited editions, restocks, etc) are way worse for our planet comparatively... I think she could donate money to environmental causes or to research to help with climate change to compensate her emissions and that would be appreciated.

Alba

Tbh I already feel guilty for flying commercial and I try to avoid it inside Europe. I have taken 12h train ride to avoid flying for 2h so I do not think I would use a private jet if I had the opportunity to own one... Taylor's situation is different obviously, but I really dislike the intercontinental travelling for just a couple nights (i.e going to nyc between argentina and brazil or london for a picture in beyonce's premiere...)

Matt George

I stand with Mason! He's absolutely correct.

Melanie Lyon

Honestly I’m with mason. I know if I had her money I would do the same

Leslie

I tend to agree with Mason. If someone drives a personal vehicle when they have access to public transit, can they reeeeally say with their full chest that they would fly commercial if they had the option of a private jet? Isn't it the same thing on a larger scale? I think Taylor's jet use (and all private jet use) is a problem, but I agree with the person above who said that her merch store and other business practices are probably worse. That also seems like something she has more meaningful control over without huge personal sacrifice. I hesitate to say she should use her jet less because...who am I to say that? On the one hand it seems reasonable to say sure, use your jet to travel for your tour and to business meetings, but not to see your boyfriend. In other words it's fine to pollute the environment as long as you're doing it for something that benefits ME. Otherwise stay home and don't have a personal life or relationship! Like if we really want to get into the weeds, I'd venture to guess that the Eras tour as an operation has a much higher carbon footprint than Taylor's personal jet use. How many of us are calling for an end to touring? I guess what I'm saying is that everyone seems to make exceptions for things that they personally enjoy/benefit from/think aren't such a big deal in the scheme of things so I'm not sure how many of us are in a position to really call anyone else out. As for the Super Bowl -- yes it's going to be ridiculous when she hops on a plane and flies back from Japan for like 48 hours only to turn around and go to Australia. But SOOOO many people are going to be flying into Vegas from all over the world on private jets. That's one of the biggest private jet travel days of the year. For previous SB's they've had to completely close down local airports for private jet traffic only. So singling Taylor out seems very silly. I also think people are a little naive about the logistics of air travel in general. Commercial planes fly empty every day for repositioning. Jets fly empty to maintenance facilities or simply because sitting still for long periods of time is very bad for a plane. It just kind of is what it is as long as air travel is a thing. The hyper-focus on Taylor, not just from her fans but the public at large, on this issue seems so myopic. Sorry I really got on a soapbox there lmao. I just have a lot of complicated feelings about this that don't really come from a "leave poor Taylor alone" place but a "we need to have more realistic and frank conversations about this because focusing on this one singular celebrity's jet use is missing the forest for not even a tree but like one tiny twig," you know? Also fuck swiftlynetural, all my homies hate swiftlyneutral

Kelly

She's 1000% going. And I'm sure she would have flown back to LA between Tokyo and Australia, anyway, even though that's honestly not great. I mean, see the sights! Tea in Kyoto? Barbi in Melbourne?

Leslie

Also it seems like not many people are aware that Brittany Mahomes and the rest of Pat's family fly via private jet to all the away games, as do some of the other WAGs. These are people who could EASILY fly commercial without being hassled or causing security issues like Taylor would. Why do they get zero heat for it?

DM

My personal opinion is that private jet travel should be more heavily regulated in general, considering the urgency of the climate crisis at this point. It bothers me less when someone like Taylor flies private than like anonymous hedge fund guys. She's so famous that flying commercial would be a massive logistical and security nightmare, literally not possible at this point. But maybe private jet use should only be allowed for people for whom flying commercial would be an actual issue, and the number of trips and length of trips should be under some serious regulatory oversight.

lyrium

theres nothing she can do to outdo the damage she's done and the sooner we accept it the better. carbon offsets are a sham

lyrium

i think all private jets should come with a ticking bomb installed that can set off randomly. maybe that would make the 0,01% more responsible.

Michaela Wagner

Mason is soooo right like. The one guy in my friendship group who’s brought up Taylor being a billionaire and that she’ll fall hard despite Riri not doing so would ABSOLUTELY make use of a private jet. He’s literally a robot engineer. Sit down and shut up andrew

Joan Chan

I’m mostly here to name how much I love the clips of her and Travis hugging and smooching on that field. I love Mother Earth and I feel she’s gotta understand why we all need more field smooches at the Super Bowl!!!

Swiftologist

Zack here....completely disagree that she's making enough efforts to reduce her flight emissions and I HATE the argument of "well if you had a jet you would fly it too!!" actually no I wouldn't. I do care about the world. Like sincerely and genuinely. I can fly first class no problem girls I do NOT need my own plane.

Monika

I agreed with you on all of it until you put parameters on when she can use it. Do I think she should use it less absolutely, but I think it's really unfair and honestly absurd (with the upmost respect lol) that people feel ok to decide she can use it for work but not for her own personal life??? Fly around the world and work for us and keep our mental health up with all these performances (speaking for myself) but don't jet to see your partner/friends and have fun, for your own well-being...is a pretty depressing demand.

Monika

In relation to the discussion and narrative that will happen around if she does fly to the Super Bowl, do you think she's happy that all these shows (Drew Barrymore, ESPN sports shows) and tik toks are breaking down how it's possible for her to come to the super bowl because it sort of normalizes it, in a way and potentially make the public less upset about using her jet? Or it will bring more attention.

Monika

I too ran to Patreon thinking there was a new episode!

Abby

Also, the “you would do it too” argument doesn’t actually address whether flying a jet all over is ethical — it actually does the opposite. When people say “you would do it too” what they are really saying is that power and money corrupts people and if you had enough money you wouldn’t care about others either. That’s not the same as saying “yes it’s ok to fly a jet all over and here is why.” Instead, they’ve just kind of made the point that money is corrosive

lyrium

thank you i think its straight up ghoulish!!!

Philippa

They don't get the same heat for it into he same way that many billionaires and ultra wealthy get away with it - they're simply less well known, and it's less easy to know their whereabouts and likely her usage than someone like Taylor who is papped everywhere she goes. Should they get heat also? Yes absolutely, but it's simply less accessible to the public to know who these other jet setters are than Taylor for whom it is blindingly obvious when she uses t It

Philippa

Both is good! She absolutely has the capacity to do both - address the shite quality and quantity of her merch, and reduce the unnecessary flying habits.

Philippa

Carbon credit schemes and offsets have also proven to be a sham and are a poster child for greenwashing - for example one way of "carven offsets" is purchasing patches of land to be protected and not logged or developed, however the majority of time the land being offered for offsets is already protected for these purposes under federal or state laws (in Australia anyway) and thefore the offsets do absolutely nothing.

Emily

not to bring That Man into a sacred space so please feel free to tomato tomato but in 2011 i was on a commercial international flight with kanye. he and his entourage bought out all of first and a big chunk of business class. the ONLY reason i’m using this as an example is just to say that like… when people say Taylor is ‘too big’ to fly commercial i just really don't believe that. she has been flying private for well over a decade and i refuuuuse to believe that speak now era taylor was at more of a risk than my beautiful dark twisted fantasy era kanye from us plebs (again i am NOT handing it to kanye nor do i think he did this for altruistic reasons at all just that it *is* something extremely famous people do) she just... doesn’t want to. i think she enjoys going wherever she needs to go in her own environment and at any moment she wants. and we live in a world where it is currently legal and financially possible for a privileged few to be whisked across the pacific or from 2 cities just a 2.5 hour car ride apart, and imo doing that is just part and parcel with the billionaire mindset and morals which i do not possess and will never comprehend. so i think, currently, most of my frustration is at those who make this out to be like… a quirk she has? and i'd guess that's how the tone of most of articles written about her future trans-continental jaunt to the super bowl will take save a concerned op-ed or two. *we* all certainly know how to be better, ya know? idk i just feel like this is such an easy thing for swifties to be united on regardless of what taylor does or doesn't do, but alas...

surem

period like wdym “you would do it too!” since when is that an argument for legitimate ethical and environmental concerns 😭? i don’t mean that in a rude way it was just genuinely shocking to read that

Angelina

I just think it’s time to accept this conversation will always be alive. Because Taylor will never cut back her plane usage. And I fear it might get worse. If she was letting the turkey use it how long till she’s letting the entire kelce family use it. Also she seems to not be able to be in one place for more than a week at a time. If you’re in KC and going to a football game in KC on Sunday why do you need to fly into New York on Thursday for dinner with a friend real quick? It’s justifiable for work and if she wants to use it for leisure that’s her right to do so. But when it becomes your main mode of transportation even when you’re off the clock and don’t need to be anywhere urgently that’s concerning. Someone needs to reteach her about the good old fashioned road trip.

T

I mean as someone who hates flying as it is, I don't really want her and an entourage of her people slowing down security, boarding, deplaning, mass hysteria that causes a damn airport lock down, paparazzi buying plane tickets just to snap photos of her there taking seats away from people that need it. Cmon guys. Think about the logistics of it. Maybe yeh in her early days she should have done it but once 1989 came out... it's not really realistic.

T

Really interesting... and were you inconvenienced by the large group he came with?

Spencer

She actually has cut back her flying by nearly half compared to previous years. See my comment above.

Angelina

Maybe that’s cause she’s not flying back and forth from London constantly. And sending her jet to pick up her boyfriend from his movie set.

Starbuck1234!

She is 100% going and I feel like a horrible person because I don’t really care about how she gets there, I know I’d be there if there was anyway possible. I think she has cut back her usage. But, i try to not put her on a pedestal, therefore if she isn’t on a pedestal I don’t have this expectation for her to do the best thing or make the best choices all the time, because she is flawed and she is a real person. She isn’t living with Travis, she still goes to the studio which is in NYC. She can’t stay in KC these weeks regardless of the Grammys or Japan because he has to focus on the SB. If she was in town and they lost the SB then haters would point back to her, how she has been distracting him. We sometimes forget that she is not one dimensional artist, we do not have access to her calendar. She has meetings and dealings that we do not know about. Planning, scheming, mtgs with executives, lawyers, her label, things we have no idea about when you are the most influential person and biggest artist on the planet. Do I expect her to stay stay in KC to do that when they aren’t living together? No. So I feel bad for not caring how she goes about her business as long as she does. I think she can do better. But, in the end she is a real person who is torn apart each day just for breathing and now the GOP has even used her “ constantly talking about climate change” to manufacture a narrative revolved around her leading up to the election. I want her to do better but people to leave her alone about it too because what do you think would happen if that woman walked through JFK? Pandemonium. It causes a security risk not only got her but for all passengers on all flights in that terminal. It’s a security risk that can’t be allowed at an airport. Then Your ruining football !!

not at all! i didn’t even see him before or during boarding, but they were all on the plane anyways when i got on, and then they were the first to leave, as well. like i mentioned this was in 2011, so it was a pretty formative for me to never be under the illusion that any high-profile celebrity *must* fly private when this became a topic of discussion some years later. they get whisked away into vip areas of airports we’ll never see, they’re not hanging around at cinnabon like me lol.

Eden McFadden

Very good points. She has one plane out of 10s of thousands
