Here is my reaction to The Three Musketeers!!

A conniving Cardinal, three best friends fighting against injustice, daring sword fights, romance, and majestic sheep. This movie has it all! I loved this concept and am so intrigued by these Musketeers. The story is based on the work of Alexandre Dumas, who wrote six novels that follow these characters lives, culminating in The Man in the Iron Mask.

While this film was made for a much younger audience than I was originally expecting, I enjoyed the witty banter and incredible cast. I’m now curious to explore other films based on these characters to see whether they maintain this lighthearted approach or lean into a more serious interpretation.

The Michael York - Raquel Welch version from 1973 is the one for adults.

The Dingo

Another of my all time favorite comfort movies! I first saw this my sophomore year of high school in my French class!

Mike Smith

I don’t remember this movie at all. I think I only saw it once. The only thing I remember is when my mom was driving me and my brother and sister around, she would turn up the radio when that song by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting would come on. We all sang it together, just like Adam Scott’s family in Step Brothers. It was a banger! Edit: Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofA3URC1wyk&list=RDofA3URC1wyk&start_radio=1 Oh yes, core memory unlocked.

One of my favorite movies. When I see it now, I think of it as a sort of precursor to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies in terms of style. This movie is also why I love Oliver Platt to this day. No matter what movie he is in, I just love him even if the movie is a piece of trash. Tim Curry and Michael Wincott are great great villains. I think much of the movie being more tongue in cheek helps it a lot, I mean, it's set in 17th century France and everyone has either British or American accents. Just gotta role with it! Fun fact, Sabine is the first person to commit suicide in a Disney movie! Possibly still the only one. It's hard to Google that and at 3:25 in the morning, I don't think I can go down that rabbit hole!

There was many movies with the Three Musketeers story, this one was made by Disney which is why it has a lighter tone at time. Alexandre Dumas wrote many books, but the musketeers trilogy were : The Three Musketeers (1844), Twenty Years After (1845) and The Vicomte of Bragelonne (1847-1850). The last one include the story about the Man in the Iron Mask.

I think my favorite musketeers movie is "La fille de d'Artagnan" (D'Artagnan's daughter) but which was name Revenge of the Musketeers in english for some reason. D'Artagnan's daughter Eloise (played by Sophie Marceau who was the Princess in Braveheart) who was raise in a convent get involve in a conspiration, and bring her retired father and his friends back to save the king.

Mike Smith

"A kick to the chest, that feels very below the belt." As Inigo Montoya once said, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." 🤣. Also I'll take the 10 points for referencing the movie you reference later on in your reaction!
