Here is my full reaction to Dr. Strangelove!

I'm learning that nothing can fully prepare me for a Stanley Kubric film. This Cold War satire is filled with phenomenal performances, extremely sharp dialogue, and constantly escalating chaos. While the premise is terrifying, it's a truly funny movie.

Okay, I just saw that Peter Sellers played the President, Dr. Strangelove, AND Mandrake!!! WOW!!! That is incredibly impressive and I had no idea. I'm going to have to check out more Peter Sellers movies since he is a comedic genius and wonderful actor!

Kubrick originally wanted to do a serious Cold War movie, but it became a comedy when his research made him realize how absurd the US/Soviet tensions were. The same year Strangelove came out, a 100% serious Cold War movie came out called FAIL SAFE. It stars Henry Fonda as the President

After watching this for the first time, the Peter Sellers is quite the amazing actor, he plays the role perfectly and James earl Jones(RIP) This film was so hilarious and beautiful. thank you Mrs. Jax, I loved this so much. A Cold War film too, it screams it well.

Robert Inman

Thanks Jax! It was fun seeing Peter Sellers cover his 3 distinct roles in this (the President, Dr. Strange love, and the British Officer). Perhaps you had seen him before as Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther movies. BTW, until we fully developed ICBMs, we did keep fully loaded bombers in the air 24 hous a day for much of the 1960s - Operation Chrome Dome, each plane flying for about 24hrs before being replaced by another.

You are the first reactor I’ve seen who didn’t live through the Cold War and anti communist hysteria who really gets what this movie is about. Dr. Stranglove’s original name in German that they mention (Merkwürdigliebe) literally translates to “strange love”. After the end of World War Two many Nazi scientists were brought to the United States to work for the government. I assume the character of Dr. Strangelove was satirizing this. Anyway, great reaction, I enjoyed it a lot.

James Earl Jones survived "The Hunt For Red October" which we watched back in February.

Excited to finally see this! I was supposed to see this in a film studies class I took in college, but the teacher switched it out for the Coen Bros. movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? instead.

Jax, could you edit this to add the youtube link? Youtube is doing a weird thing where it says "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" and nothing I do will actually get to your reaction.

this movie has one of those rare screenplays that gets better and funnier the more you watch it. Peter Sellers steals the show of course but George C Scott and Sterling Hayden give some of the best dead pan line deliveries in this too.

Seriously, can just one of you share the link? I'm stuck on "Sign on to Confirm Your Not a Bot" mode. And I'm a Patreon subscriber. Can you help a fella out?

Anonymous Groucho

Can I just say that you guys suck? All it would take is for anyone to provide the link. Obviously I'm a Patreon subscriber. I couldn't comment otherwise. Youtube is just having a moment. Please just link me. This is one of my fav movies of all time. And I literally can't access her reaction.

Peter Sellers has some classic movies and Dr Strangelove is one of the best. The Pink Panther series is hit and miss, but there are at least 2 worth watching: A Shot in the Dark and The Pink Panther Strikes Again. There are a couple of other decent ones. For other movies: Being There and The Ladykillers, are probably the best.
