When a comic is set in one unremarkable location like this one, I try to go really overboard with the facial expressions. I don’t know how much people really care about it, but it helps keep me from getting bored while I’m drawing.

I based future Jake’s look on 80s action heroes; primarily Mad Max.

Part of me wanted to make both future characters bald, like the comic where somebody meditates so well they inspire a cult, but it’s a fine line between referencing a past joke and just reusing a joke. It was also really important that the future characters were immediately identifiable as future counterparts, and not entirely different characters.

I did include eyes and a mouth on the blinds tho, which is a running joke that i think is just for me.

Also, I know camels don’t store water in their humps. Nowhere in the comic does it say camels store water in their humps. I will get a dozen comments when this gets posted wide “correcting” me to say camels do not in fact store water in their humps.

It has also been brought to my attention that ballsacks probably COULD expand out a lot, to store lots more water? So if anyone corrects me on that… fair.

I suppose it could be the case that the gene splicing still requires grafting to form the humps, and maybe the empty ballsacks could expand to store fatty tissues on the back once they're grafted there. Which might indicate that Sandy (if she was born without a ballsack of her very own) had to claim a trophy scrote in order for the scientist to make her hump, which might also be a dominance display to ward off other survivors in the future she came from.

I really go all out on the expressions.

I did not notice the eyes but now I will always

I find it funny that the future selves have time travel, yet instead of trying to prevent the "Water Wars" tm or even steal a bit of water from the past to help out in the future, they just try to convince themselves to do things they were going to do regardless. I guess years of dehydration impacted their brains quite a bit.

The expanding ballsack is so, so true. I saw an video once about a man who had some sort of growth on his balls because of an untreated testicular torsion. Dude used hoodies for pants, and had to walk around carrying his balls on a wheelbarrow. I'll never forget that!

In my mind, the ballsack thing happened at the same time as the camel splicing, but is a completely separate procedure

I suppose you'd probably know if anybody would. Trophy scrote has a fun ring to it and has been a vocal stim fro me since I wrote it yesterday, though, and so I'm afraid I'll be death-of-the-authoring you on this one and living in the parallel reality where you said I was right. Excellent work as always, looking forward to more.
