So, like, most of us are happy having a hamburger or a steak, even though we recoil at the idea of eating a cute widdle doggie. Therefore, hypocrisy. And hypocrisy is funny (it is!) Also, the guy's reaction in panel 3 where he goes wild-eyed THAT'S DISGUSTING compared to beheading the cow and rummaging through its innards on the last page.

One of my exes grew up in a place where it was not uncommon to eat dogs, and one time she told me a story about how her mom’s boyfriend once brought a dog home and she thought it was for her to keep as a pet, and … the rest of the story is not very pleasant so let’s just pretend that the punchline of the story was that when the dog farted it sounded like “Ice Ice Baby.”
