MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! My Christmas gift to all of you was getting up to this part in Doctor Who in time for the holidays. I can finally say I've watched a Doctor Who Christmas Special now.

I know you already love this guy, but I feel like it'll be even more when you'll see him as the doctor

Pamela Kibildis

Merry Christmas Morgan 💜💜 ✨🎄✝️👼🏻✨😊

Thaniel Grey

It's ok - I don't think you're supposed to know what Torchwood is yet! Also, the "don't you think she looks tired?" - it's the death knell of a politician. As soon as people start talking about how "tired" they look, that's the start of the slippery slope. At the time this was made, that was what people were saying about Tony Blair, to try and undermine him and get him out of office.

Sirghostfreak

Little random Torchwood is an anagram for Doctor who back when the series started in 1963. They did it as a way to hide it from TV pirates

ShadowDust

Don’t worry Morgan! Torchwood has been mentioned I believe once in this show so far, but it hasn’t been explained or explored yet. The reason why it’s familiar is you’ve probably heard of the Tv show by the same name. Captain Jack is in it and I believe it takes place in the same universe, if not then a parallel universe

NatMcK7

Don't worry about forgetting Torchwood, I think they did mention it in season 1 but I also forgot until I watched one of your reactions and even now I can't remember what episode they mentioned it in lol it was a very small line of dialogue probably Your reaction was AMAZING! Gods I LOVE this episode it's literally one of my FAVORITES of the specials. Happy Holidays to you and I hope you enjoy your day today!

So about the whole ,,6 words" thing: When The Doctor told the ,,Don't you think she looks tired?" to Harriett's assistent he - for lack of a better word - started spreading a ,,gossip", basically he (The Doctor) wanted her to be removed from power and this seemed the most subtle and peacefull way of doing it. By starting a rumor (which would spread like wildfire) and which she could not defend against it.

NatMcK7

By the way the special shown in Heartstopper is the special that came out after season 2 I believe

LikeCat

Also I love seeing the different Doctors' first stories (usually a Christmas Special), for one reason: LOVE seeing The Doctor being high on regeneration energy, it is so fun.

Queen of Fandom trash

Yeah it's the right episode there is just a lot of chrismas speical, the one heartstopper showed was another chrismas speical, but I can't remember which one lol

Luke Teasdale

dont worry morgan this is the right episode, there are multiple christmas specials so the scene from heartstopper could be one of those or maybe even a cut scene from this one

Jamie

every season has a christmas special

Jamie

And he pulled a cracker with her. She screamed absurdly. He won, but handed her the bigger half anyway, because he liked to see her smile, and she did! She pulled out the party hat. "It's pink! Mom, it should be yours." "it wasn't pink." thougt the doctor. "It was rose" -The Christmas Invasion by Jenny T Colgan audiobook

Tintros

Happy Holidays! :) It's a blast watching you react to this just like so many of us did when it first came out! Brings back such great energy! :) There's so much more amazing stuff to go!

Flufux

The Torchwood show is in the same universe as Doctor Who, it's just that the Doctor himself never appears in it...mostly because Doctor Who has a huge audience among kids, and they didn't want the Doctor to draw kids in to watch the way more adult and higher rated Torchwood show.

ShadowDust

Thought so. I knew it was in the same kind of universe, just wasn’t sure if the events were canon to doctor who hence the parallel universe comment, I haven’t seen torchwood myself but my best friend is obsessed with it lol

Flufux

Without saying why...just...remember the Doctor's severed hand. No reason why I'm saying that, totally won't come up some time in the future or anything, absolutely not.

LikeCat

Watching the newest Christmas Special (Joy to the World) after your reaction to the first one was certainly an experience. I loved both ones, but I had to put myself in the head-space to watch the new one for sure.

LikeCat

Warning if you ever watch it: It is VERY adult oriented. Just one ,,word": 456.

ShadowDust

Yeah I know I’ve heard about it with my friend. I heard about the ianto stuff which is already a preface lol. I recently learned about the attraction in Cardiff bay too that was very interesting to read about

Luke

YESSS THIS IS THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT :D

LikeCat

Somebody got... ,,Creative" with the resourses at hand. 🤣

One thing to remember about the Doctor (most any incarnation), is that he does not use guns or is it an instinct to him to use violence as the primary solution to problems (As it is for humans - in a general sense). And he does not appriciate when his companions do/try to do the whole killing thing, be it alien or human.

SauceyRed

I think the reason Torchwood sounded familiar is because someone mentioned it once in a comment a reaction or two ago, and it was a comment you had hearted.

Luke

oh and other ppl have mentioned this but yes, this is the right episode! the one they're watching in heartstopper is "the runaway bride", which comes between seasons 2 and 3, and is one of my personal favourite christmas specials! doctor who has done a christmas special basically every year since 2005 (apart from about 2018-2022, when the showrunner at the time switched to doing new years specials instead) and they're always part of the storyline at least to some degree, even if they're sometimes more removed from overall season plotlines :)

Luke

oh also as a classic who fan i also have to mention - the christmas specials have only been a thing since the 2005 revival, and weren't a thing in classic who, apart from one time: the 1965 episode "the feast of steven". that only happened because one episode of the 12-part story "the daleks' master plan" happened to air on christmas day, and so the writers decided to take a break from their big plot filled and slightly depressing and scary storyline to do a fun little christmas special where the characters get up to hijinks on a film set, and at the end the doctor wishes the audience a merry christmas! this has nothing to do with the christmas invasion, but i just wanted to nerd out a bit about the show i love lol 😅

Dinker

Merry Christmas Morgan! I remember a bit back I was in the group saying "Watch Doctor Who, but start with Nine." And I remember I had the smarty comment along the lines of "and if you get through it fast enough, David Tennant starts with a Christmas special!" And you powered through and you can take it at your own pace now and congratulations and thanks for the Christmas treat. It was awesome, we enjoyed, enjoy the show going forward at your own pace. And you know where you've heard of TorchWooD before, it's just all a bit of a jumble since you went so fast, or maybe we're just all being obnoxious kids cause we can be...

Verdigree

There is actually an explanation for the unique way the Tardis landed in the last thing you watched, that took place before this. The Doctor felt a little excited and wanted to go faster, so he pressed a button he hasn’t used in a long time is what he said

Verdigree

You have never heard the word Torchwood in the show before now, I’ll tell you that much

Verdigree

LOL, the effects got one thing very wrong, the scale of the Colisseum is completely wrong, the CGI people would have to be like 20 feet tall for that picture to make sense

SofuSunWolf

Actually, the name was mentioned in the episode “Bad Wolf” by the Anne-droid as one of the questions.

Liam Gradwell

Yes Morgan. Thank you for this FANTASTIC Christmas present. What a way to introduce David Tennant’s Doctor. And it’s only just the beginning. 🥳🌲🎉🥳🥳🥳

Jules Moum

This was a wonderful Christmas present🎁. Thank you, Morgan💜. I look forward to see you react to David Tennant. Btw, I've binged all the David Tennant seasons (2-3-4), and there's a lot. I'm excited😁. See ya later

LikeCat

The funny part is I did not even thought about the pun.

LikeCat

,,Oh I wanted to be ginger! I never been ginger!" - In a different universe you are. Very much so.😆

Dinker

I'm sure Morgan has heard of Chekhov's Rifle so they know. I mean if not they're probably wondering how a Star Trek gun got into Who, but sometimes weird timey wimey shite happens.

Willow 404

I didn't mention this last time UNIT showed up (Aliens of London) but UNIT was first introduced as an organization back with the 2nd Doctor and got more of a spotlight with the 3rd doctor's run when he was grounded on Earth for about 2 seasons and he worked for them as a sort of extraterrestrial/scientific advisor Also Torchwood was mentioned in part 1 of the season 1 finale, it was one of the questions on the Weakest Link. One of the other side characters was asked a question about a "historical earth landmark" and the correct answer was Torchwood.

LikeCat

Was grounded on Earth is a very undertoning way of saying what happened, altho this is how the Doctor would have felt about his exile on Earth. He loves the Earth and humanity. For Sure. But he also lives for the adventures across time and space.

Willow 404

lol yeah, i know he was exiled but i sort of felt like I would've had to explain how exactly he was exiled lmao so i just settled for being grounded.

LikeCat

Being ,,off-handedly" mentioned. It has not been mentioned in a ,,present day" context. e. i. In relation to the Torchwood spin-off.

labyrinthpeaches

Merry Christmas Morgan! What a great present :D

About the TARDIS metarializing like... well THAT. Firstly the Doctor just regenerated so he was all over the place. And secondly the TARDIS is designed with the intention of it being piloted by 6 people. So for future reference don't surprised if he runs around franticly to keep the ship in a (somewhat) stable condition - mainly landing it.

demonic-myst

Its just regeneration sickness its like a hangover If u regenerate in a high stress state such as pain or dying a none peacful death you get a sickness foe 24 gours after Some time-lords used to meditate whwn regenerate ro prevent it and if a timelord body dies of old age and they regenerate from that they dont get sickness

T0m4002

24:34 it was mentioned in the second to last episode on the weakest link as a throw away… I’m surprised you remembered

The Baker's Ruview

12:13 the look pure shock and fear on morgan's face has me absaloutely cackling with laughter and i mean that in the best way possible lol. They'll never look at a christmas tree the same way after this episode 🙈😂😂🎄

The Baker's Ruview

The christmas special shown in heartstopper is called the runaway bride

Bumblybeesknees

I'm glad the lion king bit got you, it cracks me up every time
