HERE WE GO!!!! The beginning of a cultural phenomenon! Also apologies for the peaking audio. I was testing out a new mic and didn't have any peaking issues during testing. I'm going to look into it more before recording the next one.

White chick is named Weiss. Which is German for white... and Yang is Chinese for sunlight and golden and stuff like. Yes their name all translates to their color as a easy way to remember. Glad to see you pick up on the show

That includes her entire surname and yes. "Xiao Long" is the dragon part i think and "yang" is a color adjective if I understand. Dont know Chinese and its a complicated language. I think "sunny" and "golden" are both accurate translations in that context.

so 'the white girl' s name is 'weiss'. It looks hard to pronounce but i usually say to people to pronounce it like you say the word 'why' but then add an 's' to the end, and that's how to pronounce her name :)

So. The rundown: The Red Trailer was completely animated by the series creator, Monty Oum, who choreographed the shows fights for the first two volumes (seasons). He made this as a proof of concept. Sadly, Monty passed away between Volumes 2 and 3 due to an allergic reaction and now his friends and coworkers keep the series going. Nine seasons in with V10 in production. The tombstone reads 'Summer Rose, thus kindly I scatter.' The animation after the Red Trailer was done by like... a team of ten people, animated in Poser, with a budget of whatever change was between the couch cushions. White one's name is Weiss. The music for this show is done by the Williams family. Jeff Williams wrote the music, and his daughter, Casey Lee, does the majority of the vocals. Jeff, of course, comes in for any male vocals. This father daughter duo were killer, though Casey took over writing the music when her dad retired after season 8. Casey was also only around 13 when she sang for these trailers. For anyone curious, Blake’s weapon is called a ballistic variant chain scythe. It’s a katana that collapses into a gun on a ribbon, and the sheathe doubles as a cleaver. Also, she's wearing a bow. It's not cat ears. Yang’s trailer is my favorite (I’m a sucker for hand to hand combat) and I think it’s a nice touch that the music goes through club remixes of the other trailer songs before ending on a remix of Yang’s own theme. Also, her quote is basically just 'hey, don't put me in a box, I'll smash out of it' Fun fact: Each character is based on a fairytale/legend/story. Let us know if it's okay to tell you who is who. The allusions are mostly just fun aesthetics and some are much more obvious than others. Also be aware of after credit scenes for finale episodes. And, last but not least, each Volume has a soundtrack. If that wouldn’t be too much reaction vids to those would be super fun. But I’d understand if you’d rather listen to those on your own time. Either way, I’d recommend checking them out. Have fun!

Something to keep in mind with this show from now on is that every character is based on fairy tales or other old stories. I won't say who anyone here is, but there are a lot of clues even in these trailers as to what they're based on. Feel free to turn it into a guessing game for the rest of the show. Also, fun fact, the entirety of the Red Trailer was animated by one guy. Oh, just for clarity, I won't explain the details, but that knight that Weiss destroyed in her trailer was not an actual person.

Having you tried turning it off and on again? 😁 If you look carefully at the end, you can see the scar Weiss (the "White one") got from that cut in the fight.

Excited for you to start this show! The white haired one is Weiss and I don't blame you for missing her name because most people do. It's the first thing the trailer says and a lot of people don't realize that is her name being said. Elijah missed it as well and Mosco would have if she hadn't reacted to it with Elijah there to be able to clarify it to her. Also Blake's design, that is her bow. I knew you would love Yang because of how sassy and badass she is. She is my favorite as well. And definitely listen to the lyrics of the songs. It's telling you a lot about the characters. Music is a big part of RWBY and I love its music.

When the Red Trailer first released, I remember thinking to myself "this is everything I've ever wanted in a show". Being a big gamer, it really felt very satisfying to watch what felt like a video game being turned into a show. After all four trailers released, I remember the Yellow trailer being the real standout for me. It was so much fun to watch. Having watched the show many times since then, I feel the White trailer is my most well-liked now. Partly because of the character, partly because I really enjoy how that fight versus the seemingly frail princess versus the huge armored foe went. Glad you liked the initiation! This show is a lot of fun for picking up little creative details that tie together.

I’m so excited that you’re starting RWBY. It’s quite a journey and there’s a lot to uncover within the show and its lore. I recommend that you listen to the soundtrack of each volume as music is a big part of RWBY and can help convey a lot through the story.

Rwby is such a good series. Maybe the animation on the first seasons isn't up to par but they compensate with a good story, good worldbulding, amazing characters and good humor. And the fights, even if the animation can go limping the first seasons most of the time, the fights are always amazing. I hope you like it, is a very special series.

If you listen to the lyrics of the songs, you get subtle hints about the characters personalities (Yang), the fairy tale their connected to (Weiss), and even part of their motivation and background (Blake). Plus, variations of their character melodies are used throughout the series in different tones.

The quality improves every season. The first 2 trailers were basically done by Monty by himself. He used the first 2 trailers to get the show approved by Roosterteeth. As the budget grew so did the animation

also, you REALLY need to not say shit like "Masako warned me the animation is BAD" because this animation is not bad or rough. it's quite literally one of the first full animation shows they did after YEARS and YEARS of learning and project work. you really need to be careful with how you say things about Volumes 1 and 2, because you are going to have people coming for your neck and seriously ruin your day if you say things like that. I understand because even us fans know the first volumes animation is rough but memorable, but you really can't say things like Bad or have low expectations, because the toxic fans are gonna come for your throat.
