I gladly pay for premium stupidity

BGTitan

Ep 4: So immediately introduced to Nora, Ren, and Pyrrha. Fun fact: Ren is voiced by creator Monty Oum (until his brother Neath takes over after his passing). Ep 5: Both Ruby’s “Birdy no!” and Yang’s “nailed it” were ad-libs from the VAs. Oh, and Lindsey Jones (Ruby’s VA) goes by they/them. “You came back!” That will never not be funny. Ep 6: When we first catch up with Yang and you can see a shadow briefly flash by in the foreground, that was Blake. She found Yang, watched her beat up a couple Grimm, and chose her as her partner. Can’t say I blame Blake on that one. Ep 7: Honestly I always took Yang and Blake's comment about how easy it was to get to the temple as a comment on their own ability to work together. Compared to Weiss and Ruby who are bickering and drawing the attention of the Grimm, while Pyrrha is just too nice and allowing Jaune to lead them into situations. Meanwhile Blake and Yang, once paired, don't seem to have had any issues. "Some girls in trouble!" Again, this show has no right to make me laugh this much.

Zora Brightwood

Looking back on it it's funny that Yang is fighting the bear grimm I didn't notice it on my first watch.

Robert Hunter

First, the one in the amazon-like warrior outfit is Pyrrha Nikos. Second, the Grimm are not animals, but creatures bent on destruction and have no souls whatsoever. Lastly, the scream by Jaune and Yang's response is what caused Elijah to double over with laughter! Mosco also broke exclaiming "That was the joke my girl friend talked about!" BTW, You are NOT stupid, Morgan, since you've already picked up some hints ahead of time. Ruby didn't get flung, she fell out of the sky, next episode will tell you how that happened.

Liam Gradwell

I Love that Nora reminds Morgan of Elijah. I knew they were simular, but I didn’t make that connection until now. I don’t know whether she’ll be honoured or insulted. Better than being compared to Torchwick is suppose. 🤣❤️🤍🖤💛

Lonely Pancake

If no one has told you yet almost if not all the characters are based on historical figures or fairytale characters like you were right about jaune being Joan of arc and ozpin and Glynda good witch are from wizard of oz

CheetsAC7

Volume 1 is always such an interesting rewatch. It's fun picking up so many subtle details about what the creators were planning from the very beginning. I'm enjoying your reactions so far, and I'm glad you are liking it as well.

David Johnson

That character list is going to get a *lot* longer... And to quote George Carlin as Rufus, "They do get better..."

Jules Moum

I really enjoyed your reaction to these episodes. I know, I'm not commentating as much as I usually do, but there's just so much going on, and I want to see it😆!! The "Nailed it!" and "Some girl's in trouble!" Lines of Yang are so darn funny to me🤣🤣 41:57, "Am I forgetting something?" Oh no. No you're not. It'll be explained why Ruby got flunked into the air in the next episode, if I'm not mistaken🤔

David Johnson

Amazon actually had Pumpkin Pete's cereal (currently out of stock) with Pyrrha's picture on the box.

Hollyhock

Your laughing is so contageous XD can’t wait for more

LikeCat

Its either laugher (mostly at our "pun queen" Barbaras' jokes.... Ad lib or in the script) or crying RIVERS over scenes. There are very few in between scenes (emotional "whiplash" vise)

Evil Queen

Finding it funny seeing your reaction to the animation style, hold out it does improve over time lol but you’re getting the hint at things quickly this show has a lot of lore to understand and keep up on, great reaction!

Vex Valor

Glad you are enjoying the comedy and characters so far and having fun theorizing.

Phoenix_mercury

Yeah Grimm are more like negative energy given form that only exist to destroy indiscriminately

Ryan

Yes, the volume one animation is endearingly bad. Nora is what would happen if Mosco and Elijah swapped bodies, and couldn't swap back, so she started to grow her hair out.

Saph

Yeah early RWBY has some of the best random bits of humor. I love it

Verdigree

Oh yeah, Jeaune is French for yellow, and he said in the last episodes and these episodes that his name is Jaune Arc, perhaps you might wish to check out a little what her deal was on Wikipedia

Verdigree

The red-headed girl is named Pyrrha, which is spelled that way because of the Greek derived saying "a pyrrhic victory", it's also kinda like "pyre". If you asked me about that scene, I would have said Weiss has a HUGE crush on Pyrrha but doesn't understand it and is doing the classic rich/mean girl thing of sublimating her feelings, perhaps not unlike Sasha in Amphibia

Verdigree

So the thing about Molly and blood was that the class he was was a homebrewed one called "Blood Hunter" that was about like blood magic, trading health for power

Verdigree

You did clock Glynda's name, and thereby wonder if that man is the Wizard of Oz for that reason, I would just say that is name does happen to be Ozpin and he does happen to be wearing green, and these episodes do take place in the Emerald Forest, but I would also say Wicked the musical/movie/book is like a very big departure from the source material of the Oz books and movies

Jasmine

Can you react to the soundtrack for each volume after each volume

Phoenix_mercury

Yeah characters are based on originals rather than adaptations(one of the reasons Ren's is almost guaranteed to not be guessed for example)

Phoenix_mercury

Pyrrha also from it's firey meaning(I can't remember the exact wording but its something like flame like)

Tigerhawk

Is it a lot to ask if you could do 2 RWBY reactions a week? It'd be amazing if you caught up to Mosco and Elijah

Konrad Dunbar

only just realized that a phrase I've highly associated with Weiss all these years actually came from Ruby XD! Fun fact RWBY has/had an official japanese dub because Japan ADORES rwby to the point where the first two episodes of certain seasons aired in theaters iirc! When Yang fights the Bears (a hint to who she's based on btw) she goes ORA ORA ORA ORA!!!!! :D

DragonBlaze

Morgan. First off, welcome to the Fandom. Second, when you finish Volume 3, please please please🙏 do the World of Reminant afterwards. Elijah did it late, Mosco kinda listen. But if you do it see it before Volume 4 it will make some sense.

Gihellcy

For all the characters references, spoiler free ^^ - Ruby Rose is based of Little Red Riding Hood (I mean, she's the most obvious of the bunch, designwise) - Weiss Schnee is based of Snow White (in german, Weiss means White, and Schnee means Snow) - Blake Belladona is based of Belle, from Beauty & the Beast (bookworm queen + "Belle", "Belladona", ykwim) - Yang Xiao Long is based of Goldilocks (the first Grimms she fought in these episodes were bear-like, and if you touch to her hair, brace yourself 8'DD) - Jaune Arc is based of Joan Of Arc (sword & shield combo for medieval aesthetic, and yea, Jaune is litteraly Yellow in french) - Pyrrha Nikos is based of Achilles (legendary greek hero of Troy's War, Nikos is I think reffered to the greek goddess of victory, Nikke, and her whole aesthetic is ancient greek flavored ~)

Arashi

Slightly more specifically, Jaune is based of Joan of Arc because she disguised herself as a man to 'join' the French army to lead them in pushing the British out. Pyrrha is based off an adventure of Achilles' where he was dressed up as a woman (named Pyrrha) in order to hide.

Keira Johnson

Going ahead and putting this here since you would have already seen the team name by the time I have posted this. --- In fact all characters of team JNPR are based off of someone who cross dressed at some point. Joan of Arc of course disguised as a man to join the military, same as Mulan (Li Ren). Thor (Nora) dressed as a woman in the poem The Lay of Thrym. While Achilles (Pyrrha) was hidden on an island to avoid the Trojan War by his mother. Hence the reason they are all gender bent versions of the people they are based on.

Faroth

Monty make the characters thinking in videogames and rpgs, so official D&D classes were assigned: Ruby: warlock pact of theblade or fighter/ranger Weiss: wizard bladesinger Yang: barbarian berserker Blake: rogue assasin

SaviorOfNirn

I subbed just for RWBY. I just can't help support new reactors to one of my favorite shows ever made

NeurovascularEntrapta

Joan of Arc was indeed a military figure, however she was not a combatant herself! Her main role was advising and inspiring the troops she led into battle.

Todd Lucas

Locker 636.....a nod to one of the animators favorite films....that had Experiment 626.... Lilo & Stitch

Alexis Cardillo

You definitely want to have a whole notebook set aside for RWBY you will need it
