To me, I feel like it was between applejack rarity and Fluttershy. And I feel like the reason why it’s twilight didn’t ask that is because she probably didn’t want to use their friendship in that way…. and also, I never quite saw a rarity as a good reason because at first, I thought it’s only because to see the nephew, but it never occurred to me that she made the outfit outfits for the gala so yeah, she should’ve gone for that. No.

Sounds similar but not the same. 31:50 Well one doesn't just ask a royal Highness for Tickets to a highly exclusive event... Also she was hungry and not at full cognitive function 😅 - And if we are real here for a moment, Celestia could have easily send her enough tickets from the start... but my guess is, that this was intentional by Celestia... - As to why? It's never said and there might be even a hint with the way Spike got his Ticket, but I got my own assumption that might spoil too much, so I can't tell you yet. 😅

Bit of clarification - Rarity doesn't work directly for the Gala. She would be taking commissions from ponies who are attending, making their outfits.

youa re not wrong: is a gala, is a fancy high class snoob slow party, when Rainbow says that the wonderbolts show up at the party each year, she thinks they perform, is probably more likely that they "show up" at the gala each year jsut like celebrities do, like, in the Oscars or some stuff like that, same for the apple stand, is nonsense if you think about it, those ponies are high class, they dont buy stuff directly, heck, they probably dont carry money since they use big sums and let the accountant and staff manage the money, same for pinkie pie, she likes happy chaotic parties, this one is a gala, a slow party, a high class party, So at least for those 3, all reasons are basically invalidated automaticaly Rarity... disney pricness vibes, yeah, she is just delussional, but working for the gala doesnt mean she gets invited, she made their dresses, doesnt mean the seamstres get invited, just look at events like the oscars or the like... That let us with fluttershy... the only one who actually asked nicely and was honest in twilight's library when asked if she was doing the favor for the ticket but she also wasnt going to be at the gala, she wanted to visit the garden, so as a +1 is a bad option since she would leave twilight alone to go to the garden so viewing the episdoe in a "logical" way, none of them have an actual "good reason" to go to the gala, and twilight neither since she just wanted to enjoy the gala with their friends

I really really hope this doesn't count as spoilers, but yeah, Celestia juuust sometimes does stuff that makes no sense for us the viewers, like giving only two tickets when she clearly knows twilight has five friends (+spike), but we can say they're on purpose ;), she's Twilight's teacher, she needs to see how her student is doing with some tests here and there

I've often seen (and subscribe myself) to the explanation that, based on the formal wording of the letter, Celestia didn't send it herself, but rather it was mass-send to a list of friends of the princess, and so the pony in charge of that just simply did the usual +1 thing

exactly that, they don't know better, as they never attended such high class Gala and do have wrong expectations of it, at least Rarity should have known as she seemed to be somewhat knowledgable about high-class society despite never attending herself, but was in her own delusional expectation... point is, they all got swept away by this opportunity, making it miserable for Twilight. - But the real culprit in my opinion is someone else 👀

Welp... against that stands the fact that Celestia sends these letters though Spike with her own magic directly... now you could argue that she didn't look into whats written in there, but i highly doubt it...
