Symbolic Remnant

This is the biggest animation improvement in the show because it’s the engine jump from Poser to Maya. The description you give of Tyrian’s mind as a Demon Party is hilarious. In this house, we love Volume 4’s Farm Boi! Pumpkin Pete’s is the cereal Pyrrha advertised for before coming to Beacon, and the only one of her accolades Jaune recognized her from when Weiss was introducing her to him.

I mentioned it in Elijah's and Mosco's patreons, but if you check out all of JNR's deigns, they all have a touch of red with Juane wearing Phyrra's sash around his waist, and specifically in Nora's design, the heart keyhole on her shirt now has points on either side which I interpret as a broken heart.

Yea. Other elements I am not mentioning due to spoilers but Morgan does seem focus enough on the spider that it seems fair to point that out. Althouhh it might be just outside of canon confirmed. Either way, the implication is Ruby's eye blast only hurt grim and Cinder is weak to them for some (just to clarify for them and others that is what was meant with cinder's strength also coming with weaknesses)

The two new Grimm introduced here are the Beringel (the gorilla Grimm) and the Geist (the rock monster). Fun fact, the giant knight that Weiss fought in her trailer, that gave her the scar on her face, was a Geist possessing a suit of armour. It's never really explained in the show itself, but basically, her father had her fight it as a test, and only if she defeated it would he allow her to enlist into Beacon. Also, here's some other fun facts: the voice actor for Hazel is the same guy who does the monster noises for the Grimm, while Tyrian's VA is trans and uses 'they/she' pronouns.

6:12 they switched from the Poser engine to Maya, that's what happened :) Older Grimm are smarter and has learned/adapted. + it's a Gorilla lol Yeah, no, Silver Eyes does not affect Maidens. It only affects Grimm. I am a bit confused as to why you couldn't just watch the credits for character names lol. Instead of risking spoilers. The credits are there for a reason. Come to think of it, Mosco and Elijah are rather eager to look up stuff like that too instead of watching the cast list at the end. Fun fact about the Geist grimm we saw; it's what Weiss fought in her trailer; a geist grimm posessing a suit of armour. 38:12 Huntsman* not Hunters, lol. Hunters are just that: hunting for food. Tyrian* :) (edit: got the spelling wrong lmao) Now we're heading off into V4! Hyped!

Grimm lady's name was in the full volume credits at the end of volume 3 (played by Jen Taylor), if you're curious. It'll come up on its own eventually, but I think the show kinda assumes the audience picked it up during the v3-4 hiatus

A fun fact, the fan name for the team that works for "Grimm Lady" is team WTCH (Watts, Tyrion, Cinder, Hazel) which is team Witch, which also serves as a massive hint for the Grimm Lady's fairytale inspiration.

I’d say that the official subtitles would solve any spelling issues, but when it stopped being on YouTube and was put on CrunchyRoll, the original subtitles didn’t make it, I think they used speech-to-text to re-do them. I have a screenshot of this scene where he’s called “What’s” instead of “Watts”, and the word “posse” was changed to a word you can definitely guess

There are for sure upsides to the changes in animation, but I mourn the downsides of this more expensive method, for starters, people are basically stuck in one outfit because that’s an entire model, it takes so much effort and money to make one, and I love the boldness of solid blocks of colour, then again, perhaps it actually reflects the story that tones of grey stain the once pristine colours, grime and textures and damage to Ruby’s cloak are now visible

Spoilerfree, remember Cinder had used the beetle grimm to steal the maiden powers, the beetle is withing her now, and Qrow mentioned the silver eyes affecting grimm, being paralizing them or destrying them, so Cinder to be a maiden was halfgrimm, which means by pokemon rules, ruby silver eyes are supper-effective against her grimm part

Ok so: Jaune have red fabric around his hips just like Pyrrha did, Ren have red rope and Nora in v1-3 had a heart on chest but after Pyrrha's death this heart is broken. Everyone of them have something that honor Pyrrha. Also Ruby have similar cut to Penny's clothes.

Jaune in dnd terms is a Paladin, so heavy armor fits him perfectly, he can tank a lot of damage since he has a lot of aura, not very good at fighting yet but he has a lot of stats to cover Also, he break the rule of 'is also a gun' with his Sword

Character Short: For the short, our first look at the switch from them animating in Poser to Maya. Got to hand it to the crew, they had to build all the models from scratch, and I can’t imagine how much work went into that. But in the long run the switch was severely needed. Couldn’t imagine half the stuff they do now ever working out while using Poser. So, I will preface this with the fact that V4 is my least favorite volume of RWBY. There’s just a lot of specific things that don’t particularly work for me. However, there are a lot of good things which I’ll talk about as we go, I’m sure. For now, Episode 1: We’ve got a whole new group of characters, which for brevity I’ll call Team WTCH (Witch). Watts, Tyrian, Cinder, and Hazel under one big bad (I'm just gonna call her The Queen until you hear her name in show). They’re fun. Particularly love the detail that Watts doesn’t sit until The Queen does. Speaking of our big bad, I love that there’s an instrumental of Divide as she makes her entrance. Best song from V3. Loving the new designs for RNJR (Ranger). Particularly Ren’s. But I also think Nora’s is really cute. Love a good bomber jacket. The Gheist Grimm is something we have seen before. It was possessing a suit of armor in Weiss's trailer (the White Trailer) which was called an Armor Gigas. And another musical cue from V3 with Mirror Mirror part 2 playing when we see Weiss. As I mentioned, they switched from Poser to Maya between volumes and while that was indeed the right call, it does mean that they had to build everything from scratch, and thus there are some growing pains. Nothing big but just stuff I notice when I watch. But, even that improves with time so... eh. Like I said, growing pains.

I sympathize and enjoy your reactions more because of it, Morgan :) I have something I want to send you, Morgan, that you can't open until the END of Volume 4. Please let me know how I might do that. It's a well known picture from the RWBY fandom that you simply must have (but is very hard to find on the internet now). As others have mentioned, they stopped using Poser and started using Maya Opendesk. I love Maya and use it myself for my own evil purposes. As you have guessed or have been told, there are leaps and bounds made through the series and while the loss of Monty was devastating to CRWBY and the fandom, this short illustrated they picked up where he left off and made something for us all to treasure. Personally, this is my favorite volume and I will argue from my own hill to my death that it stands alone. That is highly subjective, but I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I do with every rewatch. From the shadow people in the pet project of Monty in Volume 1 to this to what RWBY becomes.....the music gets better, the fight scenes even get better in some cases, the character depth, the lore, the sheer excitement I had post Volume 3......RWBY just gets better. With the loss of a creator, you might suspect a series would just end. So many people were emotionally destroyed by Monty's death and remain so today. Casey Lee Williams, the 'voice' of Neo and one of the main singers took it worse than most and in the lyrics of "Let's Just Live" she included the lyric of "Move Onward, Not There Yet". Yep....Monty. Professsor Oobleck told Ruby Rose that older Grimm learn from their age. Perhaps the Gorilla Grimm is old and has learned they can use other Grimm as shotputs hehe :) Nora's weapon, Magnhild, is arguably the best weapon in RWBY. She can use it to propel herself with the momentum of a shot. She can use it like a mount and ride it like her namesake in her last name of Valkyrie. It's a grenade launcher. A fricken hammer. And now she has a new upgrade in her taser. Her weapon now discharges electricity which fuels her electrical absorbing semblance! Jaune, however, is one of the few characters in RWBY that doesn't have a ranged weapon. Its NOT also a gun. I can only think of one other character without a gun and that was Arslan Altan from team BRNZ in Volume 3. She just had brute strength and martial arts on her side. Tyrian is two sandwiches, a picnic basket, and a blanket short of a picnic. Very astute of you :) While I will neither confirm nor deny, you have some brainy thoughts on the bug Grimm of Cinder. Maybe you're onto something, maybe not :) Freckled farm boy is sooooo cute, innit he? You're going to adore him even more. Yeah how did a young farm boy end up on a farm seemingly all on his own. Given the nature of the world of Remnant, it likely isn't a particularly happy tale. Let's hope CRWBY explain it. These four kids are walking across a large continent called Anima. Nora, Ren, and Jaune were 17 when this started. Ruby was 15. They didn't graduate with the fall of Beacon yet they are acting like the heroes of Remnant in Huntresses and Huntsman. When I was their age, I sure as heck wasn't a champion or a hero. Remnant is such a strange place. Pyrhha's symbol and Jaune's are both on that shield. As others have mentioned, he also wears her sash likely from her belongings as the original burnt to cinders. He found out too late just how much she loved him. In Volume 1, we found out Pyrhha was on the box of Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes due to her successes in her tournaments as the Invincible Girl. Elijah actually has a box of that cereal that Rooster Teeth sold many moons ago. I have one too. I treasure it almost as much as the vial of golden glitter a friend put on a necklace I have worn pretty much non-stop since Pyrhha died. She called it.....Pyrhha dust.

I love the song for the opening credits this volume so much. The whole thing is about picking yourself up after a terrible tragedy and continuing to move forward ("keep moving forward" was one of Monty's best-known quotes). You know how a couple episodes ago you were all "I can't live, laugh, love in these conditions!!!"? The very last line of the full song is "Let's laugh and dance and love and let's just live". Totally not kidding.

Choreo dips mostly in volume 5 but holds up well after Monty's death. Nothing can replace his talent and dedication, but I hate when people discredit how much work CRWBY put into keeping his dream alive. He would be proud of what they've done, and how much they improved over the course of just a few years.

The Sad part about Jaune’s Hoodie is that the bunny Pumpkin Pete is the Mascot of the Cereal that Pyrrha was on the box of and that’s how he initial knew who she was because he was a fan of the Cereal. Also another tiny detail of his new outfit, The Red Sash that he is wearing as a belt was part of Pyrrha’s outfit so he could hold a part of her with him.
