Glad this is the right episode. Its mislabeled on your trello

32:00 to add onto that point—when Blake accidentally outed herself as a Faunus and former member of the White Fang, Yang and Weiss were together looking for her, and Yang was the one pushing to reunite with her and trying to get them to see it from her perspective (“Weiss, I think we should hear her side of the story before jumping to any conclusions.”) Now it’s the other way around, with Yang jumping to conclusions and being upset, whereas Weiss is much calmer and more open minded about it. I LOVE THIS SHOW

Chris Spigelmyer

The episode Elijah likes to call "Gay shit" 🏳️‍🌈

Chloe

Not Yang stroking the Blake part of the Rwby picture, blake really put her in gay jail by leaving

Xýliandra

Hehe at last. This episode xD

I swear I get so welled up when I hear Yang say “What if I need her here for me?” 😭🖤💛

Jittercritter

This is more of a headcanon than an actual theory or anything but I don’t think Ilia knows Adam and Blake were a thing. She said Blake was ‘falling for Adam,’ which could easily be read as Ilia assuming Blake had like a schoolgirl teacher crush rather than actually knowing Blake’s mentor was WITH her. It might just be me seeing what I want to see but I don’t think Ilia would knowingly send her back to her domestic abuser.

Suplee215

For raven I think she used to be a good soldier and believer in ospin but became jaded. It doesnt take much bias to look at Ospin as the leader of a shadow govermemt inside the kingdoms fighting a secret war ad using yount impressionable people to do so

Jyoster

It was nice to see the gang spend time together like that, much appreciated given what came before between everyone. And yeah, the whole situation regarding Oz is pretty muddy, no one seems to be completely in the right, each having their own reason for their actions. Heh, first time since Volume 3 Mercury speaks, and his first line is "Hey ugly!". Perfectly captures his energy. And yeah, Raven's tribe is one of a few neutral parties within the overall Oz and Salem inner war. But given her history, it wasn't meant to stay neutral for long it seems. That talk with Weiss and Yang was much appreciated. And once more, Weiss showing why she's best girl. And yeah, Illia is showing to be like a reflection of Blake's former self, though as we know, she didn't have anything to go back to. What with being an orphan, all she had left was with the White Fang, unlike Blake who always had the option to go back to her family. And yeah, first confirmed Saphic in the form of Illia. We all collectively lost our mind at that reveal. Elijah's reaction to it is priceless, she was mislead into think Illia had a crush on Adam, only to get the double-take at that reveal. "This episode should be called 'Gay sh*t'", her words. Also, this makes so many people falling for Blake. Adam wants her, Illia has a crush on her, Sun did too early on, so much. Heh, we all hate cliffhangers.

21:12 White Rose my beloved ❤️🤍

These are two of my favorite episodes this volume. I just love that we could have a minute for the characters to sit and just talk with one another. Like the action is great and all. But I will always love a good conversation or world building in a story. And the shots of the food always make me want Ramen I swear 😩❤ Oh! And fun fact! Ilia's name means rainbow 🌈.

BrightHeart

Honestly when it comes to believing Qrow and Ozpin or Raven on the whole Bird gift situation. I'm more inclined to believing Qrow and Oz. Raven's very much feels Jaded and disillusioned with the whole Ozpin situation. So is very much more likely to twist and omit the truth of how she felt at the time in place of what she feels about it now

cipher

In today's episode we learn that Blake's gay energy is so strong it has made two girls go actually crazy.

Rachel Mae

For me the Qrow and Raven thing is like yea Oz gave them a choice in the same way he gave Pyrrha a choice in v3. Raven now sees it as she and her teammates were singled out and given special treatment by Oz, a trusted adult and she's not wrong. That's like Oz's whole thing he built the schools around the relics so he'd always have trained soldiers to protect them from Salem. And look how that plan turned out for Beacon and now Haven is threatened as well. STRQ, RWBY, and JNPR just have the benefit of knowing the real threat they're up against. So Raven in her time spying for Oz saw things that made her nope out of there and feels like Oz signed them up for a hopeless cause. Qrow meanwhile is still loyal to Oz and still believes they can beat Salem. I don't necessarily think one is more wrong or right than the other it's just a matter of perspective

BGTitan

Ep 7: So the whole conversation with Oz about Raven is what leads me to believe that Raven and Qrow's allusions are Hugnin and Munin, the two black birds known as the Eyes of Odin. First of all, both Raven and Qrow's symbols look like eyes. So that's a good start. Then there's also the obvious of them turning into birds and working for our Odin stand in here (Oz). But the story of the Eyes of Odin, if I'm remembering correctly, also had one of the birds betraying and abandoning Odin, which Raven did. And of course there's Salem's comment after Tyrian poisons Qrow about "the last eye is blinded." So. Yeah. Fun facts. Anywaaaaaay.... Ep 8: This episode. Honestly I think this is easily in my top three of the season. Could possibly be my favorite. I love the whole interaction between Weiss and Yang. Both voice actresses killed it and the instrumental of Path to Isolation in the background. Ugh! So good. “How can I be there for her if she doesn’t let me? What if I needed her here for me?” Owwwwww… Baby girl…. Blake’s show of growth was so good. I’m so proud. Could have easily went to that meeting with Ilia by herself but no, she asked Sun to have her back. So good. Finally, I want to give it up to Cherami Leigh as the voice of Ilia. She does righteous anger so well and nailed her big scene here. Oh, Ilia. You poor, misguided girl. Also, I love that the reveal with her isn't used as a "this is why she's doing this" but that Ilia reveals the fact that she had a crush on Blake to show Blake that she didn't know Ilia as well as she thought she did.

Rod

Take Ozpin’s tale about the maidens, then let time create the legend

Rod

When Ruby left home with JNR, she had talked to Yang about her plans (at least I gathered that from Ruby’s lettter the end of volume 4)

Nik(goggledogs)

First of all, we get another instance of the love of my life, Weiss, getting a chance at a family meal ❤️ Second of all, Ilia was giving gay energy the second I saw her. I didn’t really have hope the show would address her behavior toward Blake in the way that I saw, so my jaw dropped to the floor when this aired. It instantly gave me hope for any and all queer women ships from that point onward. So so happy to be able to watch your reactions as they come out now 🫶

The Blake harem continues to grow. Sun, Yang, Adam and Ilya are all in the ring, but who will ultimately win our cat girl's heart?

Zirkumflex

Weiss has come so far since the start of the show. Blake is a harem protagonist with Sun, Yang, Ilia and Adam all wanting her. Thank you for noticing what the problem was that Yang had with Oz giving Qrow and Raven their bird forms, so many people just are confused since it only has upsides. But Raven did phrase it so to imply, but not outright say, that Ozpin forced it onto them. P.S. One of the features of Yang's new arm is a vibration function /jk

Faroth

Oz made the maidens alright... did you saw that one 'coming'? Beacuse he did... 🤔😂🤣☝️🤔😅

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

It's funny to me now seeing so many of the current reactors get to Ilia confessing she had feelings for Blake and being like "OMG I totally called it!!", given that when the episode premiered in 2017/18, most reactors, even the ones who had suspected Ilia might be sapphic, were taken completely by surprise.

Eric Smith

Actually I think the wrist spins. For... devastating attacks! ...devastating attacks.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

Raven is a lying manipulative murderer, so I am going to believe Qrow when he says that they were gifted the ability to turn into birds. With that said, who the fuck cares if they asked for it or not. They don't have to turn into birds if they choose not to.

SQX Barto

I'm not sure you know, but Ren is voiced by Monty's brother after volume 3.

Vex Valor

I love that you called Ilia right before she said it. Elijah's react is still the funniest turnaround in this scene. She went from absolutely despising Ilia to loving her the moment she was revealed to be in love with Blake. Elijah thought she liked Adam lmao I have been excited to see your react to it and you clearly picked up on the subtle hints. This is the first time we got a confirmed gay character with a speaking role in RWBY and it came out in 2017 when it was still very rare for there to be a canon LGBT character in an animated show. I love that you are now a Weiss fan. Cue volume 1 you being confused why Weiss is a fan favorite and constantly saying her name wrong and thinking they are two different characters.

Elias Cristerna

6:00 I am absolutely like Yang in that if I ever found myself with a detachable arm prosthetic, I would take every opportunity I could to make a version of the "Buzz would you get up here and give me a hand?" Joke

Ryan

Obviously, Weiss, with a lifetime supply of tuna.

Ryan

Yang is going to make real good use of some of the features of the arm ... IYKYK We will never get tired of seeing Morgan get waterboarded by world shattering lore being casually revealed. Ah yes, chapter 8 - "Gay Shit!"

CrowOfAFeather

Yep, Ilia is confirmed lesbian, and I love that scene so much! Great job with the voiceating for that moment! What's funny is that when Elijah watched this scene she immediately thought Ilia wanted Adam until she unpaused and heard the rest of "I wanted you to look at me that way." lmao

Symbolic Remnant

Her last name specifically is the Cherokee word for Rainbow

Faroth

25:30 thing is, Ruby told yang WHY she was leaving, so in the end, yang supported that idea and went after her. But blake didnt say anything, and for yang, thats also.a reminder of their mom that left (ruby's mom) withput saying anything and in the end, also a reminder of her own mom that also left her behind... also gay stuff... 29:20 remember also that Weiss was the Fight from the 4 F's of a abusive relationship responses, winter bwing Flee, thw mom being Froze and Whitley being Fawn. Thats why Weiss was so "bossy" when arrived in v1, but Ruby dumbiness and recklessness let that wall down and she become herself and become more chill 41:59 remember that Blake is belle&beast at the smae time... so his father is even more "Beast"

Mare

lol I remember that. It seems to be a trend with reactors to pause right at the most pivotal moments 😅😂. Some don’t even rewind so they miss those moments

Mare

To be fair, even when Beacon was destroyed, Salem and her goons still didn’t manage to get the Beacon Relic. According to Oz, it’s still in a place where Salem would never find it.

Lavender Onyxheart

Still love how Ghira just one arm grabs a guy going in for a flying kick by the foot, midair even!, and flings him into the wall x3

DKscribe88

Need to watch this. RWBY is a comfort show for me, despite it's tear-jerking abilities. Life is kinda falling apart for me at present, so this will help. Might also rewatch all MLP since it's so upbeat. I'm glad the others got you into this series.

Tgriff02

I feel like Ozpin gave Qrow and Raven a "choice" the same way he gave Pyrrha a "choice." Technically, they could have said no, but he was an adult with authority over them, who had been showing them favoritism, and whom trusted him (at the time), after putting them in a situation where there was at least some degree of moral pressure on them to agree. Was it really a choice?
