When it comes to Yangs abandonment its not just Raven. First Raven ditches her as a baby , then Summer died then her father became distant, then she finally airs her feelings about it out to her partner who then proceeds to abandon her after loosing her arm. Then to top it off Ruby leaves her then Raven abandons her a second time in the vault. But what helps is for the first time someone came back, she had to go find Ruby and spent years looking for Raven yet Blake is the first to make her way back without Yang looking which is really sweat.

Raven and Cinder’s fight shows just how much experience makes a difference. Cinder struggles with everything regarding the powers while Raven has no trouble at all

The reception towards V4 and V5 have always been mixed, with some preferring one over the other. With V4, people complained that there wasn't enough action and that the plot was dragging, while others appreciated the lore building opportunities they had. Some people complain that V5 is visually lacking (due to siphoned funds) and that the pacing was off, but others appreciate the action scenes and different character designs/weapons we get introduced to. Personally, i enjoyed V5 more than V4, but im super excited for you to see V6, its one of my favorite volumes.

Raven had to go to Tai. She could only open portals to Qrow, Yang, Vernal, and Tai. Vernal’s dead and Yang and Qrow were right there. Tai was her only option to escape.

My personal opinion is they shkuld be 1 volume. Uts hard for me to evaluate one without the other and they perfectly lead into each other

It is his semblance. It's just not limited to healing. He can amplify people's aura. So he's part healer, part buffer as well. It's why Weiss was able to summon that giant thing as easily as she did. He can boost other people's semblances too

Ep 13: I love that you can tell the difference in experience (with fighting and the Maiden powers) between Raven and Cinder. Cinder uses her powers a lot, frequently creating new weapons (instead of using her actual weapons that she discarded) and even summoning that huge fire sword seems to require a lot of energy and big gestures. Raven, on the other hand, uses her actual sword. And while her Dust-sheathes do keep breaking, she still has the base and doesn’t have to waste energy. Then when she creates her ice sword it’s a smooth, graceful movement. Honestly for a lot of the fight, Raven seems to have the advantage. And oh my god Team RWBY all in the same space! My babies! Ep 14: I mean, Mosco wasn't wrong. Like they said back in V3, it's not uncommon for the last thoughts of the fallen to be of their attacker. And it is the final thoughts that determine who gets the power. Unless it's a dude or some "old hag" as Qrow put it, and then the power finds a random young girl (cutoff being around 30 years of age according to the writers). I will never be over the scene between Raven and Yang. The voice acting from Anna (Raven) and Barb (Yang) was so good. It’s still one of my favorite scenes in this whole show and a contender for my favorite scene of the volume. “Did you kill her too?” In reference to Raven killing the version of herself that would have fought for her family and tribe. Like whoa. Called out. And Raven is still one of my favorite characters. Her hypocrisy is what really sold me honestly, and hearing Yang getting to call her out is so cathartic. And the best part is, Raven knows! She knows she’s a frickin hypocrite! She knows she’s a frickin coward. And that's why Yang breaks down at the end of it, because Raven left again, picked running and hiding over protecting her child again. Yang was abandoned once again. While Yang doesn't hold Raven's opinion of things in high regard, it still doesn't feel especially great. The fact that the only portal option Raven had that wasn’t at Haven was Tai cracks me up. I just imagine her being like ‘don’t mind me just thoroughly lectured by our daughter, bye’. Volume 5 gets a lot of crap and, yeah, it’s not perfect. There’s a lot of standing around and talking (especially in that one dang house), repeated exposition, and the fight scenes in the main lobby of Haven Academy are a bit of a mess (again, lots of talking, disappearing fights in the background and teleporting), a couple episodes literally leave us exactly where we started with some plot lines. Even so, I remember Volume 5 was my favorite volume when it aired, and that was mainly due to all the little character moments we got along the way. The RWBY reunions, every scene Yang had with Raven (including of course the final confrontation), Ilia’s Arc and the entirety of Blake’s side of Episode 10, Weiss and Yang’s talk in episode 8, and the Maiden Fight. So, yeah, V5 is a bit of a mess at times but I still have a soft spot for it. But now, we’re on to V6, and it’s only up from here.

I don't think Yang really feels abandonment around Ruby's leaving. She doesn't seem nearly as upset compared to Raven, Blake, or Summer (though the situation there is different). And that's probably because the others she has nothing to go on for the why or where. Raven left her as a baby and has been completely absent until she saves her from Neo, Summer disappeared without a trace, Blake left without telling anybody anything. All of these leave no explanation about why the left (or what happened in Summers specific case) and no way she could ever expect to realistically reunite. Finding Raven is only feasible because info from Qrow as well as probably a bit of chance, not something that Raven did. Reuniting with Blake is possible because it turns out the villains inadvertently lead her to the same place that that Yang was at. And Yang had only gone there because that was where Ruby was. Summer remains a mystery for her that may never be solved. Ruby on the other hand gave Yang something she could realistically act on to reunite again. It's even a possibility that Yang was aware of the plan by Ruby to go to Mistral even before she left given that Qrow had promised to keep an eye on her. But even if she didn't have prior knowledge she at least knew from the note that Ruby was heading for Haven academy and why she was leaving.

Just some clarification: it's not that Juane didn't unlock his semblance, it's that he isn't a healer specifically. His semblance is using his aura to amplify others. He's an "aura amp".

VOLUME SIX HERE WE COME LET'S FUCKING GO \o/ Also, about Jaune's semblance : this is in fact his semblance we are witnessing, not healing, but Aura Amp, he uses his own aura to boost other's, so because their aura allows them self-healing, Jaune boost the aura, and so boost the self-healing, and also, because Semblances are tied to aura, he can use his Aura Amp to boost other's semblances, that's why Weiss, a few minutes after been pierced by Cinbitch's spear, had completely healed, and could perform a huge sumonning of the Lancer Queen Grimm ^^

Raven is really complicated and at the same time very much not. At her core she is afraid, of Salem of getting close to those she cares about. And around this she built layers of masks and lies. If you go back to all her previous scenes you can see with the foreknowledge all the lies and half truths she tells, all the masks she puts on, literal and metaphorical. All to save herself and those she cares about from pain and harm, only to have laid bare at the end of the volume and she now knows that all this led to herself and Yang getting hurt.

Morgan should hold judgement before she gets to the V9 Epilogue. Because if there's one thing about RWBY is that it constantly pushes the messages that all people make bad choices but it's the choice you make afterwards that matters. Because your attitude towards Raven could very well be applied to Ilia but she eventually turned from her ways AND Blake forgave her uncondionally. The show isn't even over yet but I KNOW you've everything and even the Epilogue and Beyond Episodes. Because another message about RWBY is that there is STRENGTH IN FORGIVENESS. So it's a bit hypocritical of you to say what you said when you most likely have seen up until a "particular volume." Monty's main message is about MOVING FORWARD. And every character in this show has their own journey and personal mental and physical demons that they are battling.

It's exactly what I have been analyzing as well as come from the point of view that everything that we've seen so far about Raven are only bread crumbs and should be taken as a grain of salt UNTIL we've been given ALL of Team STRQ's secrets. Hearsvoices, Yang wasn't the type to allow herself to be vulnerable to Ruby or anyone else for that matter, so she definitely wouldn't show that she's upset that Ruby left. Ruby didn't intentional abandon Yang. She made it a point to go on her mission but Ruby did see Yang in a very broken and vulnerable state and she didn't know what to do about it. She ended up unintentionally "abandoning" her. Ruby carefully withdrew from Yang thinking that Yang didn't want her around and when they reunited in Mistral that's why Ruby dropped the tray of tea and started to ramble. In fact her rambling consisted of an apology in Volume 5 of the episode, "Known by its Song" : Ruby: (voice cracking) Yang, I... I'm so sorry! I- I should've stayed, and I should've talked to you more! I'd-- I just... (tears start pouring from her eyes) I wasn't sure if you wanted me around and--

An entire Faunus militia just walked into Haven without him noticing. It raises some interesting questions about Cinder's backstory that she can go toe to toe with Raven Branwen, who is probably one of the most powerful people on Remnant at this moment. Too bad she's dead and we'll never get the answers to that... Chapter 14 "Even if you tell me something that's not true, I'm not going to believe you!" Crickey! I see Mosco is paying it forward for all the fake spoilers we've given her... "Oh, shut up!" Yang has huge brass balls. Facing down Raven when she is literally unarmed? I bet a small part of Raven is proud of her, even if she won't admit it. I ... was expecting more of a reaction from the reunion and the song. Or any reaction.

32:31 I can't BELIEVE I just NOW realized the "her" in "Did you kill her, too?" was referring to the Raven Yang was told about. I somehow thought Yang was referring to Vernal. I've rewatched this show through reactions like genuinely around 10 times by now, if not more. I can be a dummy sometimes lmao.

So the reason this volume is maligned is because some Rooster Teeth exec took a bunch of its funding to divert it to some personal project, and the volume was scaled way back in several ways. We didnt get to see much of Mistral outside of the academy, and apart from the maiden fight the fights of the volume were a lot worse than the series is known for. Like the big group fight at Haven academy gets broken down to a bunch of snippets of 1v1s that we keep cutting away from. It was a huge letdown for a show famous for urs fight sequences. People also criticize the slow pacing of the volume but thats a personal preference thing. Still related to the budgeting issues but still, not everyone is bothered by that part.

I’ve always read a little too hard into the Cinder vs Raven fight, probably because I am (unfortunately) a huge Cinder fan. I actually really enjoy the Big Sword Flex scene beyond the rule of cool. Cinder is overconfident as a maiden, but still, she was trying to use cheap tricks and manipulation to get the upper hand on Vernal and kill her while her back was turned. Consistently throughout the series, Cinder relies really heavily on setting the scene for her own victory using manipulation and planning out every minute detail. She doesn’t really know how to improvise when things don’t go according to her plan. She’s this power hungry villain trying to collect as much raw power as possible, but when faced with an opponent of equal power, she loses when it comes to creativity and resourcefulness in a fight. Anything she can do as the fall maiden, Raven can throw right back at her as the spring maiden. The power she worked so hard to get, that she literally lost an arm and an eye and briefly her voice for… disabled herself for… became part grim to maintain… it doesn’t do her any good in this fight. She conjures the biggest weapon she can possibly think of in a moment of desperation and Raven effortlessly conjures one to counter it, rendering it useless. And then Raven proceeds to absolutely aura farm on her the rest of the fight, using the battlefield, falling debris, her own weapon, and even her own fallen teammate to her advantage. Raven is so fucking cool and resourceful, and Cinder gets so absolutely humbled by her in this fight. I eat it up every time. Cinder really needs to learn from this experience going forward. Stay tuned to see if that happens, lolz! Also, I am obligated to point out that Taiyang mentioned in vol 4 when training Yang that “Raven often thought the best way to approach an obstacle was through it” or something like that. In this fight, we literally see Raven slice through a huge boulder to get to Cinder faster when it falls between them, which gives Cinder less time to plan her next move. I just love how their personalities show in their fighting style and clash during combat with each other. This fight is so hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby idk

Honestly, the fact that Raven doesn't really deny killing the Spring Maiden - and that the way we're led to believe it happened fits so well with the way Raven *wants* to be seen - just makes me suspect that there's more to what happened. What that would be I'm not sure, but my guesses range from "Raven 'killed' Spring the way Ozpin 'killed' Gretchen" to "Spring was already lethally wounded, and Raven couldn't save her but she could make it quick"
