Answering Your Questions!

Watching this from you convinced me that you would appreciate doing reaction videos to a couple of films and TV shows that I consider to be absolute masterpieces! Have you already seen the film "Return To Me"? Also, Spielberg's "Lincoln". As far as TV goes, the first four seasons of "The West Wing" are breathtaking, as is the entire M*A*S*H series with Alan Alda and company! I know you have to be conscious of the dreaded YouTube algorithm and these generally get ignored by most reactors because of it, but I feel certain that you would love them!

Your expertise in the language of film is precisely why I watch your reactions. I enjoy watching people talk passionately about things that they are knowledgeable about. It pushes me to learn more about the subject. I pride myself in being a jack-of-all-trades, and it has served me well in my life. It's a good trait to have when you are intermediating between experts of different fields. When I was a consultant of a specific field for a film it certainly helped me that I had a basic understanding of production, cinematography, props, wardrobe, set design, and other departments. It made communication with the crew so much easier. Also, thank you for answering my question about pet peeves. As a kid I used to watch a lot of Italian movies with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer (1970s & '80s comedy duo). I have no idea why they were shown in Finnish TV in the 90s, but whatever. I noticed how the sound and image sync was always somewhat weird. It was some years later when I learned that Italian films of that time were all filmed without sound, and they added all sounds in post production. All dialogue was ADR. That blew my mind. I recommend checking out the 1970 spaghetti western They Call Me Trinity. One of my favorites. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for this Q&A! I greatly appreciate your approach to the reactions and see how it adds to our viewing of the movie/show. Especially how you comment on these as a fan, highlighting the aspects that help us all to enjoy the content more (and not info for info's sake) while cheering, laughing, crying along with us. I feel this particularly strikes with BoB/TP/MotA because we all don't just see these as just entertainment, but how we honor the heroes. The insight you provide us about the production here shows us how hard the filmmakers worked in their ways to honor them. We appreciate you and the work you're doing!

Jacqui, glad I am not the only one who is turned off by ADR, especially when it’s done poorly. The first time I ever noticed it (and I didn’t even know what ADR was at the time, I just knew it sounded strange) was in “The Godfather”. There is a scene where Moe Greene is talking to Michael Corleone, and I will never forget the line. It was “I talked to Barzini”. After I watched the movie, I went and googled what happened with that take and that’s when I learned about ADR. Since you said it’s one of your biggest pet peeves, I wonder what your opinion is on “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” A bit of film trivia for you, that movie was the first movie ever shot entirely using digital cameras. Unfortunately, it was a learning experience for the whole production and as a result, there were severe issues with the audio quality. Basically, the cameras created a humming sound that was the same frequency as the actors’ voices. Ewan McGregor recently revealed that because of this, all the actors had to come back and do the ENTIRE MOVIE with ADR!

"Rain is depressing......." Gene Kelly would like a word when you've got a minute 🤨😂 Great Q&A Jacqui. I like the semi-sequential path you took, and how you related things to each other in your journey to this point.

Thanks for the backstory. I really enjoy your editing choices on the YouTube videos. Your BoB reaction is completely different from everyone else.
