I totally forgot about this part of the series re woman with strength and speed. She is important later.

Again, very much late, but to answer your question: Yes and no. It is Miller, and it isn't. The protomolecule ate everyone on Eros, including Julie and Miller. Including everything that made their minds their own. Miller was an investigator and a burn out. He was a broken man who clung doggedly to a young girl after his life fell apart, and he refused to stop pulling the thread of investigation into her disappearance, even after he found her body. Him falling in love aside, he was with Julie, the main driving consciousness aboard Eros station. He convinced that intelligence, that scared, dead young woman to change course. Phoebe, where the protomolecule was found was shot at earth millions of years ago to do what it did to Eros station, but rather to our home, long before anyone ever had a chance to evolve, but Jupiter caught it and stopped the conversion process. Miller, again stopped the protomolecule from hitting earth, but he didn't stop the final product; the ring. The problem is, the lights are on, but no one seems to be home, and so the machine is trying to call the boss, but the boss isn't picking up. It needs to investigate. Miller was who it chose to do that, but each time he pushed past whatever boundaries the intelligence set, it took his consciousness and tore it apart, killed him effectively, and then reassembled him to do the job again. In the books, it did this hundreds of times until he managed to reach out to Holden. Even then, it killed Josephus Miller again, and again, which is why he makes no sense at the beginning. Each time in this episode you saw Miller, it was a new iteration trying to perform what the intelligence was demanding of it; Investigate the ring, and found out why the builders aren't answering its calls.
