At the time this came out, my friends and I felt the "tumors" that was killing him was really an allusion to AIDS, about how it would not only kill him but take his youth and beauty. The rough stuff on a teenage mind in that era! And I had heard his name pronounced as David Bore-ee-ANN-azz (4 syllables), and just accepted it as such

Juliet Landau is American but spent time in England as a child so it's understandable why she has a better accent. Loved this Episode. I like villains that aren't just evil by default but have understandable motivation for what they are doing.

It's possible that Ford's brain tumour changed his personality, brain damage can do that. It does not excuse his behaviour but it explains it.
