New uncut Buffy episodes dropping Tuesdays and Thursdays! I wanted to get a little ahead with filming before I started posting, so that I could do two episodes per week, but also just to give myself some buffer and avoid posting gaps in the future. The Expanse will be posting on Fridays for the last six episodes.

*Please note, this is the uncut reaction, and due to copyright restrictions, requires you to sync your own copy of the episode.

you looking good Jac, great to see you back with Buffy :)

Garrick Smalley

Glad you're back. Did you recognize Ken, I didn't but then I saw this episode before I saw Firefly. The opening with the long continuous shot felt odd but the fight scene with buffy was awesome even if seeing her stunt double knocked me out of the show a few times.

Winston

Yay, so glad we are back on the Buffy train.

The notes I gotta bring up from being a long time fan: 1) That is a new recording of the theme song. The original one goes off time a little bit halfway through so they got a new version that doesn't do that, unfortunately this one does lose the witchy scream 2) The choreography definitely improves this season and honestly just keeps improving (not a spoiler since it's not related to story stuff) 3) I just love this season's opening titles. There's a very fun Lego version someone made of it

Lots of details I didn't remember from this episode, but I think it still might be my favorite episode of the whole show. I really love how this experience crystallized for Buffy not just what she was meant do to or what her power is for. She realized what being a guardian means to her on a personal level and affirmatively embraces the role by her own choice. The episode also really emphasizes the idea of a child growing old too soon. We get the explicit examples of how living with no support system ages a person all by itself. Next, we see a person who loses everything he is through extened time and pain that he did not choose. What did we learn? A hundred years passes in Ken's Hell while one day passes on Earth? We then quickly procede to Buffy arriving in Sunnydale. She has one year left to finish high school. That will make her an adult... legally. Her subjective personal experience, however... Buffy is not a child in any sense now. That's foreshadowed heavily when Rupert calls her a child when he speaks to Joyce. Everyone who considers themselves an adult with authority is about to find out that Buffy is at the very least, their equal. There's slight chance that might go badly. I honestly don't remember exactly how it goes. I'm glad to see you continuing with Buffy! If you appreciated this specific episode and its themes, I think that should encourage you to take on Angel Season 1 alongside Buffy Season 4. They never did say which city Buffy was in, but that city had a noticeable lack of Angels despite what it's name implies....

yes its buffy time :)

Movie Night

Thank you! it's good to be back with it!

Movie Night

It's been a few years since I watched Firefly, so I have a feeling there may be one or two references that go over my head 😅 And there are definitely so many things about the action sequences that give me a comedically raised brow, but I think I've just turned on a bit of a "90s filter." My version of suspension of disbelief, I suppose 🤣

Movie Night

I love when Legos randomly pop up 🤣 Whether they're fan edits of opening sequences, animations of the Death Star Canteen a la Eddie Izzard, or the Lego F1 races 😂 What's life without a little whimsy?

Ben

I got to see Izzard last year and she did an updated version of that bit as the closer!

I so love the Buffy Defeats the Capitalism Demons Using a Hammer and Sickle episode.

Tristin4857

You look very healthy here, I am glad.

I got it wrong before, I thought it was after season 1, but it after season 2 she filmed I Know What You Did Last Summer. During filming, she was sick, had food allergies and a heat wave was going on, so you can see here and for a lot of this season, her physique is much smaller than it was last season. Also, this is where the Bronze music really picks up.
