Definitely the best episode of the season. There were so many highlights to this supersized episode, especially for Rebecca and Jamie & Roy. Ted’s story I felt was only okay, but I like his epiphany.

Will someone just give Phil Dunster an Emmy already?

Katy McDermott

Also, I was stunned by how Dunster was able to echo some of the physical tics and gestures of his father (watch the delivery of “As seen in a major motion picture….” - the fake-out punch - just brilliant!)

Terry Yelmene

a successful turn was made... and everything is gonna be alright! (Jacqui, I agree, this was as good as it gets - No Wed-Funeral has been met, and possibly even exceeded!).

Collin's talk about wanting his two lives to be one made me tear up.

Fun things: In the credits, “God” is listed as “Herself”. God shows up at 50:10, when the True Spirit of Adventure asks Ted where triangles come from, and Ted says he thought it’s when God dropped a square and it broke in half longways, with accompanying graphics of a hand…God says “Oopsie!” I’m 98% sure that was Hannah doing it. This episode was written by Brendan Hunt, who tweeted that Amsterdam is “the city without which this show would not exist.” (He clarified it’s because it’s where “we all got into soccer (among other things)”). https://twitter.com/brendanhunting/status/1648492287234805762?s=20 I love that Jamie doesn’t remember his first time having the s-word…but he does says you always remember the first time you have stroopwafel. I have nothing to add on Colin and Trent. Just…perfection. And as far as the S-word with Rebecca and big, strapping, foot massaging Dutch man…I think his “Did we…?” at the end was more where he was taking the ambiguity of what she was asking about. They didn’t have sex, which Rebecca meant, but they did…fall in love? Lust? Have a Before Sunrise night? But I don’t think he is implying they had sex. Just my interpretation though. And Will…Will…my boy. We all have had those moments in nights in other cities in Europe (mine was in Paris). But bless him that he can tell his mom that. (Side-side note…there’s a subtext of men having great relationships with their mother here, particularly when Dad is…not. Nate practicing the date question with his. Jamie remembering his mom a couple of times. And Will’s open-discussion with his. But then…Beard’s is full-blown Q-Anon, and Ted has only mentioned his to talk about a bottle of red wine and “yell” at her(!!!). Very interesting.)

Possibly my favourite Ted Lasso episode ever. Definitely one of them. I hope Phil Dunster gets his Emmy nomination after this season. The subtle echoing of Jamie’s father’s mannerisms in this episode and the way Dunster holds himself in some scenes this season (arms in front of himself, hands bundled under his shirt). It’s so subtle but well done. That scene with Roy where Jamie talks about his experience as a 14 year old and he can’t remember the actual event as though he’s repressed the memory. There have been hints to Jamie’s traumatic upbringing since season 1, and I think it’s something the writers will further explore this season. In the trailer there was a shot of Keeley and Roy in what could be Jamie’s childhood bedroom- maybe that’ll be a callback to Jamie’s season one comment about having a poster of Roy on his wall as a kid. The Colin and Trent scene at the Homomonument was so well done. The pink triangle was worn on the Nazi concentration camp uniform of those jailed for homosexuality. Also I loved Dani’s request to see a single tulip when there were vases of them right behind him. Gotta love these himbos.

Couple of fun thoughts: 1) The bicycle scene with "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" was a great homage to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Loved it! 2) The Arthur Bryant's BBQ sauce was an outstanding touch - Ted has Arthur Bryant's as his background image on his laptop. If you ever find yourself in Kansas City (and are of the carnivorous persuasion), I can't recommend Arthur Bryant's enough!

Movie Night

Absolutely agreed! Ted Lasso at its best, and just a pure joy to behold.

Movie Night

RIGHT?!!?!? He's so good, and deserves SO MUCH MORE recognition for his work. I will lead the Emmy campaign

Movie Night

I hadn't noticed that! I'll have to look for it 😊

Movie Night

They really have cemented themselves as one of the greatest shows in history. I can't wait to see if they stick the landing, but either way, TL is about as close to flawless as a show can get 😄

Movie Night

Yes! Such a beautiful moment, and I can't thank this show enough for giving it to us ❤️

Movie Night

I follow Brendan Hunt on twitter, and I saw that 😄 It's so clear just how much he, and everyone who works on this show, absolutely loves it, and cherishes it. And I love reading through your thoughts, and great note about relationships with mothers! I hadn't picked up on that as a recurring thread, so thank you for pointing it out!

Movie Night

Couldn't agree more! Dunster deserves so much more recognition for Jamie, and I will lead the charge for the Emmy campaign! I think you definitely have a point about Jamie's upbringing, and it's really nice to see them address it, and get to see a character grow, and heal, and have an actor pull it off flawlessly. I knew about the pink triangles in concentration camps, but I hadn't made the connection to the memorial, so thank you so much for pointing it out! Dani is the sweetest little himbo, and I will love him to the end of time ❤️

Movie Night

1) I've never actually seen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It's one of those that's been mentioned so many times, but for some reason, I never watched it. It's on my list for the channel! 2) Yes! Checkhov's BBQ 😄 The attention to detail, and the callbacks in TL are just unparalleled, and show just how much they care. Everybody's love for this show shines through in every single moment, and it's just beautiful to watch. I may have to sojourn to Kansas City to try Arthur Bryant's! I bet they're getting a surge in business right now!

Remember, though - Will's mother is very young. Last season, Will asked to leave early one day because they were celebrating his "mum's 50th birthday." I'M older than that, and I can tell you that 50-year-olds are not in any way "old" and I'm sure his mum wasn't shocked at all.

It’s weird. I’m watching another reactor start from S1E1 and I’m finding the evolution from where all the relationship started—Ted/Rebecca, Nate/Everyone, Ted/Roy, Ted/Jamie—kind of startling. I’d forgotten how far the show has come with just how everyone treats each other.

Hard to say about the surge at Arthur Bryant's - when I was last there in 2016, there was already a 2 block line to get in!

I've just watched this episode for the very first time - I was skeptical due to the runtime but in the end it was an absolute masterpiece. And like you, i now need to find somewhere to go for a while and frolic.
