“Wolverine’s the best Canadian fictional character of all time, probably?” - Eric

On this preview episode of our new show, Too Old for This Shit, we’re chatting about the two-part pilot of X-Men ’92, “Night of the Sentinels.” Originally airing on October 31 and November 7, 1992, this episode sees Jubilee move in with the X-Men after her narc foster father calls the feds on her, Wolverine dressing like Al Borland from Home Improvement in his down time, Gambit aggressively hitting on a girl at the mall, Cyclops and Wolverine visiting a bar filled exclusively with Jack Nicholson impersonators, Beast being sent to a black site prison, and Morph getting hilariously murdered!

The rest of this first series of Too Old for This Shit is going to cover the first season of the all-new Disney+ show, X-Men ’97. The full release schedule is available on our website.

Thanks so much for being the kick-ass, top-tier subscribers that you all are! We’re so thrilled to be doing this new show and we could not be here doing it without your support! We know you have a lot of options when it comes to podcast entertainment and we’re stoked you chose to spend some time with us!

*professor x screams* in joy

John Locke

Wasn't planning on watching it but I guess I will now. Even though I was too old for the original cartoon. Still watched it though as a guilty pleasure in High School.

Kevin Lynch

Wolverine can never be the best Canadian fictional character in a world in which Zap Rowsdower exists

RJ Cunningham

As a kid (and adult) I had deep respect for Morph because he was the only one Wolverine liked. I find that pretty badass

Milan Davidek

This was fantastic! So looking forward to the rest of these

Milan Davidek

By default it makes sense. Gambit stole his personality archetype, Beast his haircut, and Cyclops is a Boy Scout (turd)

Kardoor8

Congratulations! Now I have to look up mantis

Felipe Sobreiro

Luke Perry as Gambit could have shown up in that David Hasselhoff Nick Fury TV movie

Matt

Wolverine isn't even a mutant, that's just how some Canadians are

We Hate Movies

"We Hate Movies" is really just a shell corporation for M.A.N.T.I.S. Enterprises. We've done our job this week.

MarkNM

"Charlie's gonna dig you."

We Hate Movies

Thanks, Milan! We're stoked to continue it! - Andrew

Paul

“Release the Jupin cut!”

We Hate Movies

Oh, believe me, this edit is indeed the Jupin Cut! - Andrew

Christine J

I choose to believe that the missing episode minutes includes a long discussion on how kick ass the theme song is. How could you hear that song and not get pumped up?

Trev Herron

I have nothing funny to say, I'm just excited for a new WHM series

RJ Cunningham

My first thought was “Holy shit that show was real?!” I’ve started to convince myself I purely imagined that show existing

Tim O'

Accidentally lost the first part of the episode, huh? Need help programming the VCR, Mr. Too Old for This Shit? ;-)

DMAC

The lost 25 minutes was just Eric with his thesis on why The Zapruder Film is the funniest movie since The Day the Clown Cried.

DMAC

It's all in slow motion and for some reason Gal Gadot just keeps saying "Kal-El" and "The Stone"

Jason

This was like Andrew in the Morning, and Steve after Dark

Holy hell you guys; a Prime episode, a commentary, a Melr0210, and a launch of a new show all in 1 week, plus a guest spot by Andrew on Talking Simpsons and a guest spot by the whole crew on High & Mighty. I'm going to need to call the paramedics because I'm ODing on WHM.

Rob Brown

Funny that you guys should talk about Maggot, because when X-Men ‘97 was announced, I was really hoping that it would be a continuation of the show, but featuring all the shitty comic X-Men from 1997 that never really caught on or were never featured too prominently afterwards. You had Maggot, Marrow (a Morlock who could pull out her bones and use them as weapons), Dr. Cecilia Reyes (who WOULD go on to be the villain in the New Mutants movie), and Joseph, who was believed to be a de-aged Magneto, who really turned out to be a clone or something. I think they also spent the entire year fighting Sentinels.

Eren Keskin

Even as a kid, I always wanted to be part of Magneto's crew. We would get free food from vending machines and make fun of Rogue's hair all day.

Steven – “This is what the show did well, the Melodrama in the performances, everyone is at 11 and think it’s Shakespeare.” Totally agree, excellent melodrama writing. I wish they had a couple Bruce Timm Batman TAS episodes where they were at 11. They reigned in Batman TAS voice actors in more…WHM can’t hate on Morph too much he is basically an improve comedy person.
