Holy moly, it's the next episode of our TV recap show where we talk about two sexy, sunny, Los Angeles-set primetime soap operas from the 1990s, it's MELR0210!

First up on Beverly Hills, 90210, it's the wild-ass episode, "Rebel with a Cause." Originally airing back on November 11, 1992, this episode features Brenda trying to go out with Rick while Rick is more obsessed with Jim Walsh, Andrea digging further into the righteous West Beverly High computer hack perpetrated by Steve Sanders, David Silver piping up for two seconds about some battle of the bands he wants to play, and, of course, Kelly and Dylan getting together and making out at the Griffith Observatory!

Then, across town on Melrose Place, it's the infamous episode, "The Bitch is Back"! The world's mind was first blown by this episode back on April 27, 1994, and it's the one where Billy and Alison boringly fire a wedding planner, Amanda battles with her mother who works at the Models Inc. modeling agency (backdoor pilot alert!), and of course, the once-deceased Dr. Kimberly Shaw eerily returns to turn Michael and Sydney's life upside down because, indeed, the bitch is back!

MELR0210 is a WHM podcast where the guys blissfully stroll through the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place timelines. The TV episodes covered will run in broadcast order.

Thanks so much for continuing to support the WHM Patreon! We know you have a lot of options when it comes to podcast entertainment and we're grateful you chose to spend some time with us. You're way cooler than Dylan McKay!Cover art by Felipe Sobreiro.

At first, I thought "The Bitch is Back" referred to Andrea returning from the dead after being hit by that Mad Max car.

Kimberly episode LETS GOOOOO

Kyle Godown

I'm never going to be able to meet anyone named Rick without saying 'Reek!' in my head and that's on you guys.

Dan Craftwerk

Hell yeah! I remember this commercial for Melrose, it was on my simpson episode VHS

Milan Davidek

I don’t mind saying this has become my most looked forward to WHM content. I’m only sad that at this rate it’s almost impossible we’ll make it to the end (math was never my strong suit)

Troy Thompson

Ok Brendafest Destiny made me fuggen snort

MarkNM

I was actually so impressed by that one that I *legitimately* forgot to laugh.

MarkNM

When you were positing the Andrea Crippleburger montage, my head needledrop was "Everybody's Talkin'".

Eren Keskin

Brenda "He's free to go out with whoever he wants... As long as it's not one of my best friends" Walsh

Aidan

Please please PLEASE do an episode on Wizards of the Lost Kingdom!! I had it on VHS when I was a kid and watched it many times, I spent years trying to remember what it was called when I recalled it in adulthood. It's an insane fantasy movie which is a total ripoff of Star Wars, down to the light sabers, floppy-haired savior, and a handsome rogue with a big fantasy Chewbacca-typa-guy

Mike Kling

Is Dr Loomis pursuing Kimberly after she escaped from Smiths Grove.

Sarah Wolf

I hear “Reek”, and immediately think of Theon Greyjoy from Game Of Thrones.

Sarah Wolf

Models Inc.- first sight of Carrie Ann Moss!

Christine J

As one of the five people who watched Models Inc (on Fox at 8), I loved all of the guys’ references to the show. That series finale lives rent free in my head.

Tim O'

Loose Loomis joining this gang of violent sex pests? Yes PLEASE

NFlux Forever

It's interesting listening to the guys discover in (almost) real time that Dylan kind of sucks.

#ThickDickRick! Let's make it a thing (j/k we really shouldn't).

The crossover we deserve: Hellroser Place

MarkNM

Pour one out for Brenda Walsh. Damn shame. RIP Shannen.

Paul Heidtman

Just read that Shannon Doherty passed away. 53 years old. Very sad.

Chris Vincenti

Ms. Doherty had been fighting cancer for many years. She revealed that her diagnosis was terminal in 2020. Rest in peace.

Paul

RIP Shannon Doherty.

Katie Hopkins

Please amp this up to twice a month. I just recently started listening to you guys because I was disappointed with my usual Melrose Place recap, cuz I'm normal. I envoke the spirit of Malachi Throne. Mingo, please.

That 90210 virtually no additional takes reminds me of Dark Shadows, which would only ever do a second take if an actor began swearing. So that became the workaround for one or two cast members, but even then could only be used sparingly. So you'd get badly blown lines, crew members feeding actors lines from just off camera, pulling an entire display off the wall while trying to pull out a sword, lots of flies landing on faces, etc. No reshoots shows are always fun.

Chas (Jeff Kaake) was the strapping white co-lead in Space Rangers, a 1993, six-episodes-before-cancellation sci-fi series. I have no idea how it ended up on Swedish TV since it wasn't exactly popular even in the US, and I don't know why it's one of my stronger memories from childhood. Also starring Linda Hunt, Cary-Hiroyuka Tagawa, and Clint Howard.
