“This is what guys would do before internet pornography” - Eric on Richard Brake’s character

On the maiden voyage of our new horror movie show, Scaredy Cats, we’re chatting about the total ass-kicker of a horror good time, Barbarian! How quickly would any one of us drive across town lines to find the next available Hampton Inn instead of staying in this AirBnb? How genius is the casting of creepy, old Bill Skarsgård in this role? Is there anyone out there who can do dangerously eerie better than Richard Brake? And how rad is this twist, folks? PLUS: Frank Underwood teams up with The Mother to tape a holiday video greeting!

Barbarian stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long, Richard Brake, Jaymes Butler, Kurt Braunohler, and Matthew Patrick Davis as The Mother; directed by Zach Cregger.

Scaredy Cats is a quarterly (four times per year) video show where we break down a horror flick from the modern age (only films 10 years old or newer) that YOU the Patreon supporter helps curate! Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the poll on Patreon where you can vote to help pick the next film we cover on the show!

We know you have a lot of options for stuff to watch and listen to and we’re so stoked you took some time to work us into the rotation. As always, thanks so much for being the kick-ass, TOP TIER supporter that you are!

So excited for this!! My mom loved Weapons, I need to get her to see Barbarian now, it really is so good.

RichieEsquire

You guys don’t sleep in 4 bunk beds together? I always thought it was more like the grandparents in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in one bed

Dan Craftwerk

Your mom sounds like a cool mom. Mine would always buy us the R rated tickets and leave.

Busiris

Doing some coast to coast travel and I'm excited to give this a watch once I'm settled in for some time away from home, which feels appropriate given the movie (thankfully I'm not staying at any deceptively dangerous Airbnb).

Jessica M

Great episode - the only movie that I've ever turned off (I finished the next day) because I was so rattled.

Solomon3418

This was an incredibly cathartic episode to listen to. I love the movie, but it was also the last movie I watched before my mom passed. After enjoying this, I feel I may be able to watch this movie again. Thank you.

MarkNM

You know if someone gave The Mother the It's Alive baby, I think we could have had a really sweet and touching finale.

Scaredy Cats was a huge success WHM, congrats on the new branch of an already stellar lineup of quality entertainment! Loved hearing your terror AirBnB stories and all the discussion on the film. Barbarian was a blast in theaters and so much great tension and hilarious Justin Long, what a great presence 🤣 Weapons talk got me ready to watch again for the 3rd time, such a creepy, well built story and what an ending. Come back to Detroit for sure, excellent EP boys!

Eren Keskin

They really put Justin Long through the ringer in horror movies. He can't catch a break

Hard To Gwil

This was great and the polling idea is super fun, heck yes!

Gryphon

Why are there no hands on the clock, because they are not needed

Gregory Baffuto

My wife is too big of a scaredy cat for me to show her Barbarian. She agreed to watching the original Halloween with me on Halloween so I'm taking that victory right now

KRA

This was great!! I loved the discussion and really enjoyed the screengrabs shared in the video format. Excited for January!

Barista Bran

Last I heard there was some movement on a possible physical 4K release of Barbarian due to the success of Weapons. Fingers crossed that comes to fruition

More like ScareB&B

Rod

My wife is SUCH a scaredy cat. She only puts up with horror movies from September through October. I thought she was going to hate this. She thought it was silly.

Unicorn Trista

Just upgraded my membership, so far it's worth it! ❤️

Zac

So happy you guys mentioned all the secret doors. Door city in that airbnb!

I've been in metro Detroit for most of my life and you guys are precisely right about Brightmoor. Quintessential "bad neighborhood." Finding yourself there alone at night could be a horror movie unto itself for suburbanites like me.

Ryan Brenn

I have a bladder the size of a thimble, so I can relate to the uncertainty of how the hell many previews are going to play before my movie starts. I'd personally LOVE to see the actual start of the movie on the showtime so I can plan accordingly.

Meggy

Yay so happy you guys liked Detroit! Had a blast at your live show and can’t wait to meet yall again!

Sophie Brown

I think it's so funny that you guys call out the duvet thing as cute because I was terrified! I was kike OH GOD HE'S GOING TO WRAP YOU UP IN THERE

Billie Jackson

Generally underground rooms can't be listed as part of the square footage unless they are finished basement type finished iirc, and in some cases things like bedrooms need windows capable of allowing egress in situations like fires. But it's been awhile since I last checked and may vary state to state.

Derrick Affolder

I stayed in an AirBnB in Denver that turned out to be a basement suite, which was weird with low ceilings and whatnot, but fine. The problem was there was a door that was a little larger than the other doors and it had multiple locks on it. We were 100% convinced that it was a Barbarian door, so we just avoided it and didn't talk too loud about it 😬

Jessica

This was so good! Made me watch the rewatch it immediately 👏

hexum311add

Yo I love the new tier, I hope you guys don’t get burned out bc I really need this show to continue for just like the next 30 or so years. K thx

Sehnsucht666

I'm an idiot, so I apologize, but where's the audio only track? I thought that was an option 👀 I'm driving around all day for work so the audio is the best option for me
