It's the October '25 edition of our long-running Star Trek re-cap show, The Nexus!

First up on TOS:TAS, we're talking about the dull, lazy, awkwardly-titled episode, "The Slaver Weapon"! Originally airing December 15, 1973, this episode is a rare gem indeed, in the sense that it's an entire episode featuring the TOS crew where Captain Kirk doesn't appear! That's right! He's not even mentioned! Instead, we've got Spock, Uhura and Sulu farting around on this planet filled with violent cat people who are also seeking the same storage unit as our Enterprise heroes. It stinks!

But, across the Neutral Zone on TNG, we've got the most excellent episode, "The Mind's Eye." This episode, one of the best in the entire Star Trek franchise, premiered back on May 25, 1991 and is the one where the Romulans turn Geordi into a Manchurian Candidate-style assassin! We've also got Worf giving zero fucks when dealing with an old Klingon ambassador, Data doing some sly sleuthing to suss out the saboteur, and Picard trying to keep the whole thing together by playing master diplomat like always. PLUS: The hilarious scene where Geordi "assassinates" Chief O'Brien in Ten Forward gets a lotta laughs out of the guys!

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support our family of shows—we couldn't do it without you! We know you have lots of options for pods and we're super-stoked you chose to spend some time with us—thanks again!

Great work guys, you had me in tears!

I love this TNG episode—La Forge fucking with O’Brien. 😆

WarOfTheBees

"Commander, this E-band is showing some highly blue collar readings about drag racing through a New Jersey town before being sent to Vietnam." I apologize...this is actually an E STREET band."

The only funko pops I have are Marvel's magic and scream.

I actually have experience visiting a Risa-like environment. Meaning, yeah it's hedonistic, but you still have to follow basic rules regarding consent and respect. I imagine Risa being the same thing.

Paul

You went to Burning Man?

NFlux Forever

It was actually a commune rooted deeply in queer counterculture. All you the drugs and sex you could ask for. It was truly transformative.

The busted time capsule story that Andrew was talking about happens in The Yogurt Shop Murders doc on HBO. And it is indeed simultaneously tragic and hilarious.

The Sulu impression starting to melt into the Charlton Heston impression... excellent *tents fingers*

Craig

From my cold dead hands … oh myyyyyy.

Yeah Larry Niven is a scifi legend but an absolute neocon prick.
