On the final Gleep Glossary entry of 2025, we're chatting about Luke Skywalker's dead townie friend, Biggs Darklighter!

Biggs Darklighter was an ace pilot who flew several missions for the rebellion over the years. He grew up on Tatooine where he befriended a lowly moisture farmer's nephew, Luke Skywalker! Darklighter would leave the planet first, headed to the Imperial Academy before defecting to the rebel alliance right after graduation! Darklighter flew his last mission alongside his hometown bud, Luke Skywalker, but was blown to smithereens by Vader in the final battle.

Dude led a storied life, and we learn all about him this month!

Gleep Glossary: A Star Wars Story is a show where the guys try to honor the history and legacy of Star Wars characters, most of whom we've been told don't matter anymore!

Thank you for being so incredible and continuing to support this weird, wild adventure we're on! You make this all possible! We know you have lots of options when choosing which pods you listen to and we very much appreciate you carving out some time for us!

YES! Can't sleep, have been binging mail bags all night from the one-ticked-off-BVS fan to the Harrison Ford Lego encounter. Time for the final, gleep, of this glop of a year. Love you guys, congrats on the 2026 tour dates; stay safe out there, thanks for making things just a bit better as we spiral down to hell.

Woo, amazing episode--starting off having a go at Home Improvement/Tim Alan, we got an actual "space battles" in text, and personally I always love when you guys are political. For what it's worth, the Star Wars radio dramas are pretty fantastic--grew up on them; this story line is covered in episode 1 of the original program. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TDy7pvEJs0&list=PLKlEuLQNMuOFo7TBqgrCkxXpJ-17QPJNX Also as a guy with a band in NJ, your joke about playing nearby states hit too close to home! Jersey, Philly, NY once or twice, Jersey, ...

Bar trivia was amazing when I was younger. We used to go all the time and one year made it to the city’s championship trivia night where I live. Now I’m old and people annoy me.

Fun fact about those Fireball airplane bottles: not even whisky ("whisky") like in the bigger bottles. It's a malt-baeed beverage. Apparently there was a class action lawsuit filed but I assume it didn't go anywhere because gas stations still sell it. This has been your Annoying Nerd Post, thank you.

"The older boys a felon now" - oh no Brad Taylor what did you do?!

Derek Baxter

“Should I play it?” I love when Eric has control of the show.

Rose Esposito

"I wish I knew who Bob was." "He's a guy on Becker."

RJ Cunningham

George Lucas was both incredible and terrible and coming up with names. Biggs Darklighter….incredible

RJ Cunningham

What was Eric’s term for watching Becker? Like Getting Becked? Or fans were Beckheads? Actually he might not have had an official term for watching Becker because why would he

Eren Keskin

Sickass helmet on this guy. Would love to own it.

I’d watch the hell out of a single camera comedy called “Tatooine Townies”

Rose Esposito

I just remember 💣 BECKER BOMB 💣, but I don't think he came up with a demonym, per se.

also I agree with Andrew about the quizmaster really setting the tone for bar trivia -- I am a regular player, as I force people here to know every week, and last week I got La La Land'ed by a substitute quizmaster. After the SECOND tiebreaker question, she announced me as the winner and then went "...wait, no..." 😔

Busiris

After this episode, I'm going to have to start up my own cannabis dispensary business and I shall call it "Puff Darklighter".

D Arthur

A corroded geriatric predator that exudes evil & his weird sycophantic protege from a broken home…

Jason Reagan

Every time I hear the Cerveza Cristal clip..my day gets better.

Digging for Biggs: The Jason Biggs Story

Craig

I do think Biggs’ scene in the New Hope re-release was the only one that was worthwhile. You have the impression Biggs and Luke know each other during the attack, so it establishes that, and also Biggs vouches for him which helps explain why the rebellion let some random farm boy join the attack in the first place.

JK

"Sweet Sixteen" has been stuck in my head for two days straight, damn you to hell Eric

Kevin Lynch

Speaking of Tatooine’s age of consent; In the deleted scenes from Star Wars Camie was played by Koo Stark who would become the mistress of, now former, Prince Andrew.

as a child one of my first exposures to star wars was some kids book about Luke's early time racing on tattoine hanging out with biggs and Carie or whatever. So by the time I watched star wars I was very confused and thinking "hey! where's Luke's buddies at?" it was the special edition though so it did have biggs in which probably means I was the only child watching Star wars the first time to realize who biggs was
