“He is such a dirty slut in this movie!” - Eric on Dave Franco’s character

On this week’s episode, our month of episodes featuring convos about movies we watched in 2025 concludes with a total banger chat about the romantic drama, Regretting You!

Are these the horniest bereaved characters in a major studio production? If your hometown has a local rodeo, does the town charter stipulate you have to get married immediately out of high school? Does Dave Franco really look “mysterious” wearing glasses or is this character just a serial killer? Does Scott Eastwood play a believable party animal? How much money did AMC Theatres have invested in this thing? And we all need to do better by Clancy Brown! PLUS: The Great Pop-Tart Rant of 2026!

Regretting You stars Allison Williams, Mckenna Grace, Dave Franco, Mason Thames, Willa Fitzgerald, Scott Eastwood, Sam Morelos, Ethan Costanilla, and Clancy Brown as Gramps; directed by Josh Boone.

The Scott Eastwood as a car joke originated on the episode for Suicide Squad

Tim O'

I'm devastated when Cabbie's taxi gets blown up in Escape from New York, but I feel nothing when I imagine Scott Eastwood exploding.

Adam

Totally bought a whole box of blue jolly ranchers. Ate them during the great freeze and power grid failure of Texas.

Dan sulin

Have you guys never been to a candy store? They literally give you a clear bag and let you fill up your own candy and charge you by the pound. And they always have the jolly rangers separated by flavor

MarkNM

"I feel like a podcaster in a candy store."

Josh

So excited for White Guy Karate month. One of my favorite sub genres of film and its rad to see the show revisit its early origins. Only the Strong, American Shaolin, and Best of the Best 2 are some of my favorite eps.

MarkNM

Scott Eastwood was considered for a remake of The Love Bug, but he couldn't nail the accent.

JK

"I SCISSOR YOUR GIRLFRIEND" I scream laughed

Daug

No joke- in the book version of Tell Me Lies (now a terrible Hulu tv show), a female character is killed in a car accident while giving road head.

I.C. Weiner

Freshman year of college the girl who I had a crush on but who obviously just wanted to be friends with me liked green, and only green Jolly Ranchers. So, I decided that as a big romantic gesture that I would go to the store and buy 5 bags of Jolly Ranchers and pick out all the green ones and give her that. All my friends told me not to. When I gave it to her, her reaction was essentially, "What the fuck?" It is probably the most pathetic I have ever been, so thanks for bringing back those painful memories. This happened around 2006, so I think Ms. Hoover may owe me some money (to pay for my future psychologist bills)

MarkNM

I felt this one in the back of my neck

DMAC

Jupin name dropping House 2 The Second Story... NICE!

Tala Hobballah

Honestly, would love to hear a month dedicated to this genre from the boys. Now...to name it.

RonnieSoak

Let's not forget the possible origin of the road-head-dead in American Gods. (That was in the show as well, right?) We also got the scorned widow spitting on the corpse of the deceased wife of our protagonist who later returns as a zombie. Riveting stuff.

Paul

Next week: the return of “Ehh, he, he, he, he.”

James Marron

Did AMC theatres produce this movie? I was half expecting Nicole Kidman to walk in and talk about the magic of movies

RJ Cunningham

I remember Fincher using the bubble texts in the first episode of Mind Hunter and do think it was the first I’d seen of it since I remember thinking “oh ya, Fincher figured out a pretty easy way to do texts on film.” Had to look up but holy fuck that was back in 2017

RJ Cunningham

The “creak” of the door that they want to create as the ultimate noise of despair, is the weakest little squeak, it’s like how they would try to frame it in a parody movie. Right at 6:35 in my pirated version. Quite funny

James Marron

FYI guys, the episode you talked about Scott Eastwood being a car was Suicide Squad

Dennis Stack

Love your work, Andrew, but hard disagree on unfrosted pop tarts. That frosting has that "cake decoration they claim is edible" texture to it and I just can't when a blue moon rises and I find myself eating a pop tart

RYAN RUBIN

How has Andrew only seen Starship Troopers once and it was back in the VHS days??

johnny stocker

Funny enough, the cafeteria where I work has a little grab and go place where you can self scan snacks and whatnot and I noticed they had some pop-tarts for sale, single packs and two packs both available. So the lone pop tart is indeed somthing that can be bought...

Rashida Douglas

Single Pop Tart person here. I just eat the other one when I’m ready for another one. It’ll be there. But it has to be toasted. A raw pop tart is a travesty.

Matzar

It’s ok to like a Pop Tart. 😀

Rose Esposito

Excellent "So what, no fuckin' ziti now?" reference lol

Rose Esposito

That was a bite-off situation too, as I recall.

Matthew Lloyd

Awesome to hear Andrew mention the Stereophonics.

Phillip

Didn’t get around to watching the movie until yesterday morning. No joke, as I’m watching the scene where Allison Williams is being informed of the car accident I get a text from my wife who’s on her way to work that there was an accident right in front her and she had to brake to avoid it. It was crazy timing.

TJ Guiney

is she, y’know… a Friend of Car?

Rod

I only raw dog pop tarts

Matthew Taylor

:: steps to mic, clears throat :: “Put your noodle in my doodle”

duck of death

I immediately bought a blu ray of The Hunted in preparation for next week. Eh heh heh.

Gavin Byrne

There’s a bit in this movie where Dave Franco approaches the two teenagers in the school corridor and it had the exact energy of the TC Tuggers sketch from I Think You Should Leave.

Craig

Yes! It was the first movie I ever went to see twice in theatres. Now I’m wishing I put it in the hat as the WLM for Listener Request Month.

Craig

This should have been a mailbag!

I.C. Weiner

If they do one to promote their tour I'll write it in

profondo robbo

Funnily enough, I recently watched Russell Madness in order to revisit the episode and recognised McKenna Grace as the daughter in that movie. It's especially funny when the gang say she's terrible in it and will never make it in Hollywood.

Matthew Lloyd

Reminds me of the Pulp song 'Babies'.

Jamie

Open on a funeral. Pan past the weeping mourners. Camera stops at Eric, who pulls a sleeve of pop tarts out of his suit jacket. He opens it, takes out one, solemnly eats it, and then puts the sleeve holding the second pop tart back in his jacket.
