It's the hot, sweaty, August edition of our Star Trek chat show, The Nexus, and this month, we're tackling a super-historic TNG two-parter, "Unification"!

Originally airing November 2 and 9, 1991, this blockbuster two-parter is the one where our intrepid Enterprise crew sets out on a dangerous covert mission into Romulan space where they must assess whether or not Ambassador Spock, yes, that Spock, has defected to the Romulans. These two episodes are remembered as being the best of three times major TOS characters crossed over onto TNG due to the fact we had both Leonard Nimoy reprising his role as Spock for the first time on the series, as well as Mark Lenard returning (for the final time) as Spock's father, Sarek. And yes, every time we go to write that man's name, the computer tries to auto-correct to Shrek!

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support our family of shows—we couldn't do it without you! We know you have lots of options for pods and we're super-stoked you chose to spend some time with us—thanks again!

Sarek in TOS and TNG was played by Mark Lenard and James FRAIN played him in Discovery

A gang starr reference. You've made my day.

2 in 1 day for me after I heard a Guru track on the radio this afternoon.

I always think of him as the main villain from the failed NBC superhero show The Cape. In which the mc's power was that he had a cape. There's a moment towards the end of its only season when it looks like recurring antihero Keith David is going to get the titular cape, and then it would have been an okay show. But he didn't become the new lead, so cancelation was well deserved.

"of course, you know, like when you run out of ideas and your Star Trek show just starts doing the same Star Trek episodes again" swipe at The Greatest Generation?

Craig

I think it was Feel The Music, solo track

A gentle ribbing. When I saw we were both going to ST:LV, I tried to get us all to collaborate on something. Long story short, they're gate keep-y and discouraged people at ST:LV from attending our shows. So I made a playful swipe. - Eric

Andrew's Picard voice pronunciation of "meewwvees" is gonna stick in my head.
