On our hot, sweaty, August edition of our SoCal TV recap show, we're talking about two fairly solid episodes of our youth-led, primetime soap operas!

First up, on Beverly Hills, 90210, we're chatting about the landmark episode, "Strangers in the Night"! Originally premiering on October 13, 1993, this episode features Dylan whining about needing a new car, Jim Walsh hooking Brenda up with his client's too-cool-for-the-room son, John Sears making further moves trying to win over Kelly, David's graveyard shift at the radio station starting to ruin his home life, and, yes, Andrea losing her virginity to Dan Rubin!

Then, cross-town on Melrose Place, it's the super-uncomfortable episode, "And the Winner Is..." First airing back on February 27, 1995, this episode has Kimberly getting wise to Michael's intentions with Amanda, Sidney purposely getting into hot soup at some road house so Jake will come save her and piss off Jane, Alison super-awkwardly winning an award over Amanda in public, and the debut of Kristin Davis as Brooke Armstrong, the eager advertising clerk that's about to be chewed up and spit out by this cursed apartment complex!

MELR0210 is a WHM podcast where the guys blissfully stroll through the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place timelines. The episodes covered will run in broadcast order unless otherwise specified.

Thanks so much for continuing to support the WHM Patreon! We know you have a lot of options when it comes to podcast entertainment and we're grateful you chose to spend some time with us. You're way cooler than Dylan McKay!

I am very excited that we are in the Brooke era of Melrose Place.

Fascinated about this Port Charles show they mentioned in here. Not sure I ever heard of it before and I doubt I'll try to climb into a 1500+ episode series. All I know from looking it up is that it incorporated stuff like vampires and time travel... and then the series ends on a cliffhanger where someone is revealed to have been a werewolf, lmao. Oh this show's tempting me...

"General Tso's fuckin'" is simply incredible work by Andrew

It's more episodes than Dark Shadows, which was 1227? I'd never known PC ran that long. Any supernatural soaps tend to veer into some level of wtf, so are at least somewhat entertaining. Will need to check it out.

There definitely needs to be more supernatural soaps, that's for sure.

Yeah, I feel like the next logical step in this John Sears storyline is the revelation that a female student named 'Kelly' has disappeared from campus for each of the last 3 school years. Also I gotta tell ya, listened to the Melrose section Monday morning at work, made me pretty hungry for Chinese food, so that's gonna be lunch.
