Recorded Live at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, MN, 20 March, 2026

“This show is rated PG-45…” - Steve on our live show content

On this Summer Live episode, it’s our rowdy show from the great city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, where we were touring in March of this year, chatting about the beefy, early-Arnold epic, Conan the Barbarian!

How incredible is James Earl Jones’ wig in this movie? What’s with this feral dog man in the scouting party at the beginning? Did Arnold really punch that camel in the face? Should Sven-Ole Thorsen ever be this clean-shaven in a movie? And who among us wouldn’t join James Earl Jones’ snake cult? PLUS: Burgess Meredith as Conan’s father? It could’ve happened!

Conan the Barbarian stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Earl Jones, Max von Sydow, Sandahl Bergman, Ben Davidson, Cassandra Gava, Gerry Lopez, Valérie Quennessen, and Mako as The Wizard; directed by John Milius.

My first and only live show! Loved it!

Erica Taylor

I had a great time seeing you guys there - but the PackFlix event before it was super cool, too!

Jacob Ferguson

So glad we made it into town for that lil shindig

Craig

I don’t know why but Eric’s old timey “they put the funnies on the front page” newspaper line really tickled me.

Adam Lewis

Crom laughs at your podcast! Laughs from his mountain!

MarkNM

Got ya Four Winds right heah...

MarkNM

You know Pete Hesgeth is just itching to put the "crush your enemies" quote into a future speech; he's just trying to decide whether to attribute it to Jesus or Ronald Reagan.

Eren Keskin

The lore kinda gets confusing because Thulsa Doom was a character in Robert E. Howard's Kull the Conqueror books rather than Conan, and he was a skull-faced sorcerer who was a direct inspiration for Skeletor. Jones's version seems to be based on pharaoh sorcerer Hoth-Amon. They're both involved with snakes, however, since Robert E. Howard was afraid of them. The Skeleton League was robbed of a worthy member.

Jason

Y'know Bri, hon, I'm a bit worried about my Thulsa. First it was Fortnite and Roblox, now he's all about the Riddle of Steel. Maybe we should monitor his internet use, babe.

Chris

Guys, it should be "Hissmas"

Chris

Really love that the last IMDB review caused the show to end in lusty boos

WarOfTheBees

You ever hit the King Conan stance on the shitter? Power move, especially if you leave the stall door open.

Busiris

*With a blank dead stare* Come join me, I'm listening to this episode of WHM in a warm wood-paneled home, playing Super Mario and listening to vaporwave music, and my mom is bringing Pizza Hut. 🍕🕹️

MarkNM

(Arnold voice) "WHO WROTE THIS, LOU FERRIGNO?"

Tru$tn01

Great to finally see you guus live in MN! When we returned home to relieve my parents from watching the kids, what did they leave playing on the tv? Becker. Got fucking Becker bombed. What a way to cap off the evening!

Elmer

I was the drunk idiot shouting "Put that Nookie Down!" to Andrew's sheggrin, at the end. ('Have been waiting 3 months to remember what the hell it was I said 🥴)

Todd B

It never occurred to me before, but when Andrew mentioned the Star Wars funeral thing, I found myself wondering - was the start of the second Ewoks movie cribbing notes from this?

Ed Harris

The audio commentary for this one is priceless. John Milius is taking the whole thing more seriously than any sane person should and Arnie is just describing what's happening onscreen and throwing out jokes. Its pretty great.
