Recorded Live at the Den Theatre in Chicago, IL, 22 March, 2026

“Way too much oral stuff in this movie!” - Eric

On this week’s WHM Live episode, it’s our raucous show from Chicago where we were talking a blue streak about the beloved Tom Hanks comedy, Big!

How eerie is the third act of this movie? Shouldn’t Susan have been a bit more creeped out by Josh’s apartment? Is there a more terrifying sight than Robert Loggia being nice to people? How great would it be to have a 1980’s Jon Lovitz as a coworker? Couldn’t they have thrown more lines to James Eckhouse? What would it be like watching the gut-wrenching, Lars von Trier-esque, family drama that Mercedes Ruehl and the rest of the Baskin family is going through? And did Hollywood decree there could only be one be-mulleted, red-headed, DSB actor at a time? PLUS: Should New Jersey give Jason Voorhees his own highway rest stop?

Big stars Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Perkins, John Heard, Jared Rushton, David Moscow, Jon Lovitz, Mercedes Ruehl, James Eckhouse, Debra Jo Rupp, and Robert Loggia as Mr. MacMillan.

I'm only halfway through and this has got to be one of the funniest episodes you guys have ever done. "CONJURING CHAPTER 5: THE BIGGENING" Crying. 💀😂😂😂😂😂😍😍😍😍😍

Jason

I wonder how times Andrew has said "listen, it's the movie's fault" in his life?

Charles Grodin's Toupee is Scared Stupid

Big is really a Boomer fantasy of how a 30 year old in 1988 with no work experience and a grade school education can land a job in data entry and become an executive in a week.

Les Whinen

Visa Versa was not a previous episode

Dennis Stack

What a great show this was and I look forward to attending another live show! I'm so glad the audience laughter drowned out my Ms. Krabappel-esque cackle at the Jason Voorhees joke 🤣

Rose Esposito

lololol I knew the guys were gonna go in on Josh bursting into tears at the, checks notes, sound of someone speaking Spanish. Truly terrifying for a little white boy!!

Kevin Lynch

Eating a baby corn like a regular corn on the cob is something I definitely did when I was a kid. As joke however; not because I didn’t know what they were

Eren Keskin

Most women already know how scary it is to see the man they slept with transform into a child. HEYY-YO!

Lar

I had a package I was tracking that stopped through a place called Vorhees, NJ, so I guess Jason does got something going on there.

Vice Versa was an unreleased live show we did in Chicago like 10+ years ago that only featured a few members of the cast and some special guests, including friend of the show, Justin J. Case. - Andrew

JK

I had forgotten about Billy as a legendary Disgusting Shit Boy

Sonny Rojas

This was great, One of the best episodes yet!

I.C. Weiner

Idk if it was the recording compared to other live episodes but that crowed seemed *LOCKED IN*. It was a great episode with so many great bits.

Craig

Steve’s bit about the guy who just asked Zoltar “for some time alone”. 😂

We Hate Movies

Kind of a little of both. It often depends on how the show is recorded, sometimes the crowd is recorded more clearly than other times. But also, we don't kid when we say we always do well in Chicago. Those Windy City folks go nuts! - Andrew

Les Whinen

No kidding. And here I was hoping for BodySwap-a-poolza month.

Matzar

Kind of crowd that one dreams of performing in front of!

Laura Coleman

When I tell you I rewound the gasp no fewer than 3 times.

Pleather Face

The sound mixing makes most live show episodes unlistenable, props for being the first pod I've found to have actually enjoyable live episodes!

Anthony

This was hysterical I love hearing the crowd actually having a great time. Hope you all get back to Chicago soon, seemed like you guys had a blast.

We Hate Movies

At some point I'd wager we'll do an in-studio episode on it since that show was easily like 12 years ago or something. - Andrew

We really do try our best to only release stuff that we would also personally listen to. It's why we're so nuts at venues about making sure the recordings come out. But that's also why we refuse to release certain shows if the recordings are too far gone. thanks for the kind words! - Andrew

Gone

I’m bummed to hear about the deleted scenes about the friend’s home life. Not cause his life is sad, but because I had a theory for years that he was an adult that used the Zoltar machine to be a kid again. That’s why he was able to wander around unchecked and go to New York whenever and why he was able to be the advisor to Tom Hanks.

Dave Waters

Surprised this was WHM instead of WLM, since it's so beloved, but regardless this show was hilarious! Loved them sayin he dressed like Bill Belichick and the bit that followed. They had a floor piano set up last time I visited FAO Schwartz. So much indoor smoking in this movie. Elizabeth Perkins was BABE though. Underrated. You guys were on fire all episode.

Chaz Keracher

I hope WHM does a show in Pittsburgh.

Billie Jackson

All the Loggia talk reminded me of the anti abortion horror movie in which he abducts three pregnant women and holds them prisoner until they give birth. 2011's The Life Zone.

Rico Smith

Holy shit this is far and away their funniest episode. So many inappropriate outbursts at the grocery store
