“Oh, they’re not doing re-shoots here…” - Andrew

On this week’s episode, the 2026 Halloween Spooktacular is just getting warmed up as we break down one of our all-time slasher faves, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives!

How hilarious is this cold open with Tommy Jarvis and Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter? Is there another stunt in this franchise that comes close to the awesome RV flip in this movie? Is this the funniest Friday the 13th script? Has there been a better pop song used in these movies than Alice Cooper’s “He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask)” that we get at the end credits here? Is that cemetery groundskeeper a fart head? And how about that sheriff’s murder, huh? PLUS: Apparently Thom Mathews and James Karen corresponded with one another long after The Return of the Living Dead kick-started their friendship!

Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives stars Thom Mathews, Jennifer Cooke, David Karen, C.J. Graham, Kerry Noonan, Renée Jones, Tom Fridley, Darcy DeMoss, Vincent Guastaferro, Tony Goldwyn, Nancy McLoughlin, Alan Blumenfeld, Matthew Faison, Ann Ryerson, Whitney Rydbeck, and the late Ron Palillo as Allen Hawes; directed by Tom McLoughlin.

Always love the boys talking about Jason, but I especially can’t wait to listen to this one. What a Spooktacular this has been already!

2026-10-13 18:00 I intended to just watch this one at the weekend, but ended up doing a 1-6 rewatch 🙂 will have to do the rest this week. They're all fun, but I think this is one of the better ones.

Charles Grodin's Toupee

Mike Johnson is just Sweetchuck from Police Academy if he rose to the rank of Speaker of the House. Everytime he speaks, I just imagine him being hit in the nuts with a nine iron.

Eren Keskin

Along with his other crimes, Tommy is responsible for all the deaths going forward. He should be the one chained under a lake.

2026-10-14 11:00 Hilarious timing for this episode as not even 2 weeks ago I met Thom Matthews at a horror convention ("now signing on the Biehn deck"). Happy to report that he is an EXTREMELY nice fellow, and very happy to chat with fans. Told me that when he was doing the voice acting for the F13 video game he tried to negotiate 10 cents everytime someone picked the Tommy Jarvis character. They said no. Nice guy!

Edit - I forgot to mention he asked me if I saw the two fan films he made and I lied to this man's face.

I agree with Eric, Death Ring is solid! Great low tier white guy karate actors. I actually think I watched it awhile back as it was one of his recommends on "What we are watching".

Speaking of Friday the 13th fan films, I was tricked into watching one that I thought was a real movie, because it was on the Showtime app. They wouldn’t put any old bullshit up there, would they? It’s called “13 Fanboy”, it’s made by the woman that toplessly got garden shears through the eyes in part 5, and it’s about a masked killer that that starts killing the real life actors from the F13 films. Unfortunately, it’s terrible, they aren’t allowed to use any of the iconography from the series, and the movie doesn’t feel like it’s ever even SEEN a Friday the 13th, because it’s trying to be more Scream or Saw and just fails at absolutely everything. It’s a real piece of shit, stars Dee Wallace for some reason, and not only features Corey Feldman, but also has songs of his in the film. Viewer beware! It’s on Prime now, which is still better than it deserves.

I've always loved the voice that Andrew does for indignant/self-righteous Brandon Walsh, and his Tommy here is close enough that I was enjoying myself royally.

Winson Paine

Eric know this - while your alleged friends talked over you and no sold you, WHAT ARE YOU A GARDEN HOE was incredibly fuckin funny and did not go unheard. Bravo

johnny stocker

Very much enjoyed Eric's 'Drain the lizard' aside. He truly is one of the internet's leading authorities on turns of phrase related to male genitalia.

RJ Cunningham

In the Spooktacular Intro, it sounds like Billy from Scream is Scottish at the start of his quote. I think he says something followed by Sid! That first word sounds especially Scottish

Bill Anderson

If you guys are interested in a single player slasher game, may I suggest Halloween. It is an online game but you can play against bots in a private match. If you all get it then you could hunt each other in the private match also.

Craig

Despite being Australian, I think the first time I ever heard the phrase “Drain the lizard” was in the Anthrax song “I’m the man”, which came out in the 80s.

Emil Svensson

Being an adult is realising that the truth isn't always the best option!

Sonya Ballantyne

‘She’s probably going to make the bears come because she’s bleeding!’ Made me laugh so hard

Busiris

An iconic episode because it introduced not one but TWO new phrases about bodily excretions - "Dump the pouch" and "Business bust". I promise you that I will find a way to get these into the English lexicon.

Darryl Bowen

Digging grave is tiring. My Girlfriends dog died and she wanted to bury him in the backyard. Just burying a dog is exhausting, can't imagine doing that with a person

Darryl Bowen

A friend of a friend from High school did a fan film called Vorhees Night of the Beast where Mark from this one is older and his friends trick him into coming back to confront his trauma, but run into both Jason and a big foot. It's short enough and has a great BJ decapitation that took me by surprise. Wasn't expecting to see that on YouTube I think someone is also playing Duke, the bounty hunter guy from Jason Goes to Hell.

DMAC

To chime in on the fellas Aussie bit, there is apparently a phrase in Australia: We're not here to fuck spiders. Which apparently means we aren't here to fuck around. So apparently fucking spiders is a serious business in Australia.

John Locke

I watched the first episode of Crystal Lake this morning. Not at all what I was expecting and I'm really curious how much of this is canon. Really well made episode.

John Locke

I'm still dumbfounded by Business Bust. I have never heard that one before.

Shanda P.

I WISH this was a commentary! To make it a complete set like Twilight.

Chaz Keracher

Eric I highly recommend seeing Alice Cooper. His show is like the first Scream movie; twisted and violent but so much fun!

We Hate Movies

Oh nice! The prop she's got in the movie makes it look like a bad mock-up, but maybe it was just a well-loved edition! Thanks for the info! - Andrew

We Hate Movies

I've been having fun with it! I played through the story and it was funny seeing all the additional murder points they wrote into the tale. I've been enjoying the multiplayer stuff, but I may be putting in the new Hellraiser game soon. - Andrew
