CLOVERFIELD (2008) FULL LENGTH MOVIE REACTION - WATCH ALONG

Comments

Gisele Luz

Hey, I love this movie! Great to see you react to this one guys!! 😄😄

Seshen

Ah yeah. Just got off work and seen this pop up! We doin this one TONIGHT!! I’m sure you guys liked this!

James Forrest

Ohhhh wow :) Friday night treat :) Excellent work guys! I'm gonna watch this right now.

The Media Knights

Oh you know us well. What an absolute treat! We hope you enjoy your night off!

Casimir

Ooer Cloverfield! I know what I'm doing tonight.

James Forrest

Lol guys I absolutely loved watching that with you two :) There are a few weird "facts", at least according to JJ Abrams ... He says that Clovie (the monster) is probably a baby. And it's not acting violently, but just panicking because it doesn't know where it is or what is happening to it. Which adds a really strange vibe to a second viewing, and actually you can see where that's a convincing theory. What seems like violence to us is simply the result of a creature rampaging because it is actually scared. He said that the creatures which drop off it are like extraterrestrial parasites which live on it. Presumably the activity around it, the violence being launched on it, is why they are dropping off it. They are definitely hyperaggressive. At the end of the movie, in the clip of them at Coney Island, there is supposed to be a moment where you see something fall from the sky and hit the ocean; that's definitely there, although it's hard to see. That's whatever Clovie is "arriving" on Earth and dropping into the sea. It was great watching you guys react to the movie. As big monster movie fans I knew from the moment I watched your intro that you'd love this. It was one of the earliest big-budget versions of the Found Footage film and in fact it is still the best one I've ever seen. Incredibly effective. Chilling. The monster is off-screen for the vast, vast majority of the film but the tension never lets up. Great world-building. Great storytelling. Brilliant and realistic characters. A great script. As you guys said, sound is hugely effective in this movie ... and the scene with the Statue Of Liberty head lying in the middle of the street is, of course, iconic :) So pleased to have watched that tonight! Great way to relax after a long week!

My favorite first person filmed/found footage movie! Loved y'all reaction (as always to be honest!) Pleeeeaaaaaaaasssee waaaaaatttttcccchhhh the other Cloverfield movies. I personally loved them all, esp the 3rd one, The Cloverfield Paradox.

Mister Lou

are you going to watch 10 Cloverfield Lane? Super 8 is anther really good movie, if you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend it.

Mike

This will be interesting. I'd like to see y'all watch the whole series and see how you feel about it. Originally Abrams had a whole thing planned out, but then decided to buy out other movies and merge them into the clover-verse via reshoots. I tried watching this with another reaction channel while drunk... That was a mistake

JRCortez

At the end, with them in the carnival ride, you see the creature, top right, fall into the water.....

Dee

Not usually a fan of found footage films, but this one isn't bad plus I love an unhappy ending.

Melissa Creel

Kind of off topic but with the release of the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer have you guys seen the original 1988 Beetlejuice? It being 80's all effects are practical and Tim Burton also used stop motion. If you havent I think you guys would enjoy. Fun fact. Beetlejuice is the movie my husband and I went to see on our first date. Then went back the next week on our second date to see it again. So I'm partial to it.

I really love some of these surprise curveball picks that you guys throw our way. I was very excited at the notification! I saw this in theaters and it was a cinematic experience I will never forget. I loved the shaky cam but it was not pleasant for everyone. One of the biggest stories opening weekend was the amount of people getting so sick and nauseous in the theater. Lots of people vomiting or getting migraines and having to leave early. All theaters were then required to post caution signs warning viewers about the shaky cam. Pretty wild, I think the shaky cam is fantastic!

This movie was shrouded in SO much mystery at the time. The first teaser didn’t even give us a title. It was so chilling and haunting. Nobody knew what the movie was about. The teaser ends with the words “Produced by JJ Abrams” and that’s all it took for the entire internet to go WILD with theories. One of the craziest and most popular theories was that it was a live action VOLTRON movie! To this day I am dying to see a Matt Reeves Voltron movie with a realistic/thriller vibe set in NYC! 😅

Joey Cintron

LOL Ari with the, "I almost forgot this was a kaiju movie." That changed mad quick didn't it? LOL

imperial

Lol I loved that! They were soooo invested in the juicy gossip going on in the house party and the whole breakup situation 😅

imperial

This movie also had one of the most viral internet marketing campaigns EVER created. Secret websites that would give clues, puzzles that had to be solved, mysterious photos that had to be deciphered, secret phone numbers that you could text or call. It led to internet sleuths throwing out all kinds of crazy theories. Even when it was finally confirmed that it was a monster movie, the theories still continued. With LOST being the #1 show at the time and JJ Abrams being known as the king of the “mystery box”, everyone was convinced that the movie would have some larger twist involving aliens or alternate dimensions or time travel or some government conspiracy. Who knows, maybe the sequels will cover some of that stuff 😉 But at the end of the day, it ended up just being a really enjoyable monster movie with a very unique pov.

imperial

I’m sorry for all of the long winded comments. This movie just has SO much interesting history to it that I don’t think many people remember, and I grew up with ALL of it as a kid lol. I was obsessed with JJ Abrams and LOST and the viral marketing just had me hooked from Day 1 lol.

Michael G. Munz

What's *really* fun is to MAKE reaction videos while drunk! :D

Mike

Well guys, get on it. We need a media knights drunk off their ass reaction lol

Mike

LOST will always be the single greatest show ever. Even more so when one looks into all the behind the scenes info. I really got into the lore around this movie when it came out, the soft drink, the connection to off shore drilling, etc. I honestly felt let down by what the ended up doing with this.

Michael G. Munz

Truly fantastic re-experience this movie with you guys! I caught it in the theater with my friend, who got a little motion sick and complained you couldn't see enough of the monster. I thought it was great because it's not a movie about a kaiju attack, it's a movie about being IN a kaiju attack. Now you have to watch 10 Cloverfield Lane, which is...also a monster movie, but with a different kind of monster.

Blaze118

I loved the reaction. Its nice to see this movie get some love. I knew a lot of people who didn't like it when it first came out, but it's nice to see your opinion and your perspective. One of the fun facts about this film. All the soldiers (minus Sergeant Pryce. The one who told them where they needed to go for evac) were all members of the New York National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division. A buddy of mine who served in the New York Guard at the time was in the film during the initial combat scene where the soldiers are charging down the street shooting. When I asked him about it, he said "Bro it was fun, but the only thing we questioned was why the hell would you want soldiers running towards a giant ass monster with guns that won't do damage. Especially when it's dropping little spider creatures" I agree on that one. My biggest complaint was when they were in the helicopter. I've been part of MEDEVAC and helicopter extractions, the one thing you want to do is get out of the A.O (Area of Operations) ASAP once you've got your wounded/HVI/Refugees etc. WHY in the hell were they flying in the same direction that the monster was walking? If I'm the evac pilot, I don't care how high in the air I am. If I see the monster going this way》》》 I'm flying this helicopter that Way 《《《. That's honestly my only big gripe about the film. Other than that, glad to see your reaction to this and I look forward to your next ones

Konnor

if they ever make godzilla vs destroyah that would be an amazing way to incorporate found footage since destroyah has his lesser forms that are on a human level like those little bug things in this movie

BlueJean452

I love this movie. Joined just so I wouldn't have to wait for your reaction to hit youtube. So glad you guys enjoyed it too. Please react to 10 Cloverfield Lane. It is completely different to this, at points you are unsure how it is even a sequel, but the movie is amazing. Would love to watch your reaction.

Tatiana Ferreira

I love that you're reacting to this movie! 😊 Are you guys thinking of reacting to Dune? I think it might be interesting for you 🤔

The Media Knights

The ending for this was brutal! We expected at least some of them to get out safely 😖

The Media Knights

We looked into the production after watching this and we were extremely surprised to find loads and loads of lore that was included in the marketing material. It's genius! We really would love to see another film in this niche. I'm currently working on my own kaiju/monster script and watching these have been inspiring but also so helpful from a production point of view.

The Media Knights

Thank you! You guys are the best. We'll delve into 2 and 3 pretty soon!

The Media Knights

Yup! 10 Cloverfield Lane is on our list and we just added Super 8 since neither of us have watched that one 😄

The Media Knights

I cannot fathom how much larger in comparison an adult would be. It could probably cross NYC in just a few steps

The Media Knights

We'll definitely be watching the other 2 so you'll get our in-depth thoughts when it comes to the sequels 😄

The Media Knights

We have yet to watch the original Beetlejuice! We almost watched it during Halloween season. We'll definitely catch up before the new one comes out 😄

Mike

I'm not a huge drinker, but I'd be down to go drink for drink with y'all on a reaction. That would be fun. You guys have quickly become my favorite channel

The Media Knights

We researched the production and marketing leading up to its release and found a plethora of lore and an insane marketing strategy. These guys are genius! They captivated audiences curiosities in such an effective way and gave a huge payoff to those who went to see it. Also I'd love a live action Voltron flick! Please Mr Reeves!

Mike

2 is legit an INCREDIBLE movie. Watching it you'll have no idea it's in any way related to the first one. It originally wasn't, but it's a GREAT movie.

The Media Knights

Thank you for rewatching this with us! What a rollercoaster this was! Cannot wait to see what 10 Cloverfield Lane has in store for us

The Media Knights

Thank you for watching this with us! That is my biggest pet peeve when seeing copters in these films. It's like...my guy! Use the fact that you can gain height and distance from what you are trying to elude! 😂

The Media Knights

Ahhh a hybrid Godzilla flick that incorporates the found footage POV perspective would be sick!

The Media Knights

Hey! Thank you for joining us. Hope you enjoyed! 10 Cloverfield Lane is on our list. Can't wait to check that one out 😄

Kelby Farley

The only one, who I think makes it, is the black chick who left in the first helicopter. They never say if she survives or not. She was the one dating the brother leaving for Japan and the one who planned the party.

James Forrest

Wow fella :) I have to read that when you're done! I've almost finished my second novel! :) Need to find an agent pronto haha.

Ebony

my hands sweated too watching this movie ! like REALLY bad, it's really so real how it's filmed and acted out !

Michael Szlezak

watch the hole trilogy before the lore videos :D
