Comments

Julie Mc

I've never seen this film, so it'll be a fun ride watching it with you guys!

Mike

This is an incredible movie all on its own. Amazing flick

sarCC

Yay!!! This movie's so great, love the performances and the execution of the story. Thanks for doing this one!

Michael G. Munz

Well chumba my wumba! So glad this dropped tonight!

Joey Cintron

Had to bust out the DVD for this watch along but totally worth it. Watching it with you guys was like seeing it for the first time again. I saw it in the theater and the constant back and forth of wondering what was going on outside kept me in the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn’t figure out if Howard was a psycho or if he was telling the truth. But I failed to realize that both could be true. The entire theater gasped when they showed the ship for the first time. Now imagine you’ve watched both these movies, and are huge Cloverfield fans. There has not even been a whisper of a sequel and, 2 years later when you are watching the Super Bowl, a random 30 second ad comes up that says Cloverfield Paradox on Netflix tonight after the game. No trailer other than that ad. They just dropped it right then. We were all shook. Still one of the best marketing campaigns I’ve ever seen. The way we all 🏃🏻‍♀️ to Netflix.

I LOVE both of your reactions to this movie. It felt like you guys completely forgot that it was a Cloverfield movie. And that’s definitely the best way to experience it. The title can feel like a spoiler, and it can take away from the tension when you go in expecting a monster to show up. (The original title was ‘The Cellar’, it was much later into production that they decided to change the title and connect it to Cloverfield.) But I agree 100% with what you said about how engaging the story was, you end up forgetting about any Clover connections. I was so captivated by the simple story and the mysterious situation. So the sudden sci-fi shift at the end still caught me off guard.

I agree John Goodman’s acting is so phenomenal here. The tension he created left me so uncomfortable at times. Love your point about his character being the true monster of this movie. How GREAT was that scene when they are playing taboo and he’s supposedly describing Santa Clause! “I’m always watching. I know what you’re doing! I see you when you sleep!” By the end of the scene we’re still not sure if it was part of the game or if he was really accusing them. Such brilliant writing and acting.

Jordan Williams

I was just about to say the same thing!!! I'm looking forward to their reaction as well.

Joey Cintron

Ohhhh man, I can't wait to see the look on their faces!!! lol

Winter_Rose

Cloverfield Paradox is a prequel and sequel rolled into one!

Mike

this was a great watch with y'all

James Forrest

Really enjoyed this guys, thanks for watching it. It's been AGES since I saw this. It's not really got much to do with Cloverfield; when I watched it I watched it knowing that it had no real connection except in marketing ... and I really loved it as a standalone piece of paranoia inducing brilliance. Highly original, with Goodman doing an absolute star turn.

These actors carried this film! The tension they were able to build and the sense of claustrophobia was great. It makes every scene have this uneasy undertone.

The Media Knights

Agreed! Super smart script for keeping it lower budget too! John Goodman absolutely killed it. So creepy!

The Media Knights

Paradox is on our list! We'll definitely be finishing off the trilogy 😄

The Media Knights

That is pretty clever marketing! It seems that Cloverfield is pretty much known for how they announce their next film. Can't wait to see what they do next!

The Media Knights

This entire film is basically doing what the party scene in the first film did. We were focused completely on the event unfolding on screen that you definitely forget to question what the connection is. Totally worth it honestly!

The Media Knights

John Goodman is so mercurial in this! It feels like anything you say or do will get you killed 😂 He was fantastic!

The Media Knights

The concept is great! It's actually an exercise we both do. We must've written at least 9 scenarios that take place with minimal cast and one location so this film was so inspiring and such a cool experience.

James Forrest

Guys, I defo want to watch one of your projects :) I've experimented with that kind of fiction as well; the sort of "locked room" story. I wrote a hostage story set in an acupunture clinic, (my girlfriend at the time ran it) a story called Losing It ... (the guy is planning to assasinate a public figure, he goes in there with the gun tucked in his trousers under his shirt cause he's trying to get used to carrying it ... someone spots it at once cause he's a complete amatuer haha) it's in my self-published book of short stories and novellas, but they all need a clean up. I need to send you guys a copy when I get a chance to do the work on it. Just point me in the direction of your own stuff, I'd love to see or read some of it.

Michael Szlezak

sweeet, i hoped you guys will watch it. cant wait to rewatch :D

OudYom

what is the point of the censoring the movie on this website? i have memberships to other creators just like you guys and they show everything. What's the point? I feel like i wasted my money

Loiris

its been 2 years since you guys said youd finish it off lmao, any day now, right? XD
