My ABSOLUTE favorite part if this movie is the soundtrack. Its so different. I love it.

to the timing/pacing. I likened it to a reversed fibonacci sequence. things started slow and spiraled faster and faster. which is why it almost feels like 2 or 3 movies in 1.

"Multipass" YAAS!! I guessed right🎆 This movie is "Super Green" Let's go!!!

Another 90's movie that looks at the future is Demolition Man. Sylvester Stallone, Wesly Snipes. It's really fun satire on society and a lot of action.

Luc Besson movies are generally wacky. He made a movie maybe 10 years ago set in the same universe as Fifth Element called Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets or something - never finished it myself. I believe the concern with the Mondoschewans being German is that the initial scene was set after WW1 started, which is also why they came to Earth to recover the stones and the Fifth Element because they were concerned war would destroy them, which would then lead to it being impossible to kill "Evil" and dooming the entire universe. I never thought that people didn't like this movie, just that they didn't see it or know about it. It has everything a space fantasy movie needs - dystopian setting, dire stakes, cool special effects and/or CG, cool spaceships, cars, creative costumes and cool props, memorable and funny dialogue, fun editing and a fire soundtrack. "Multipass!" and James Hong going "You are fired!" are things I quote all the time.

I love this movie! I love even more that people are starting to appreciate it for what it is.

I highly recommend reacting to 12 Monkeys if you seen it haven’t yet. It’s one of my favorite Terry Gilliam films and it also stars Bruce Willis

What I like about you is that you are honest in your opinions about the films you watch. I enjoy the talks after where you discuss what worked for you and what didn't. Keep it going. This is one of my favorite films for some reason. I don't regard it as sci-fi. It's fantasy in a space setting, like Star Wars. The tone might be more European and that's why feel weird for Americans. It's kinda silly, kinda lame and very cheesy at parts, but it's also very creative, very well made and has great performances. It's funny and it has heart. It's one of those comfort movies for me, and it's a film I enjoy every time I watch it. Sometimes things just click for us, and sometimes they don't. Both are ok. There's something for everyone.

This movie always struck me as strange and I think that's what they were going for. One interesting thing about this movie is that they wanted to make the song the blue singer sings sound alien so they literally wrote it as impossible for a human to sing. I've seen people bring up 12 Monkeys. It is a good one. I'm sure y'all have a long list of movies... Lol...

I just love this movie. The aesthetic is just fantastic, combining Luc Besson and Jean-Paul Gaultier is an insane idea but it works. Yes, it is not a perfect movie, but no Luc Besson films rarely are (some come close though). The tempo is insane but most Besson movies have that (Taxi is an excellent example). It is very french in it's way. I agree with you completely about Jovovich and Willis, their chemistry is great. Jovovich especially is really good in this. Of all I've seen of her this is my favorite performance from her. Oldman and Holm delivers as expected. If you want to experience more Besson (which you should) both "Leon, the professional" (1994) and "La Femme Nikita" (1990) are fantastic!

This is one of my dad's favorite movies, along with "Big Trouble" and "Big Trouble in Little China," so I've seen it quite a few times over the years. Every time we watch it, I get to see my dad jump out of his seat to do the entire sales pitch for the ZF-1, right down to the movements and accent. So, there's that. I liked the goofiness of this movie. But I can definitely see how it might not be for everyone. It's not perfect, but it can be a whole lot of fun if you don't mind the campy tone. And while I'm not an opera fan at all, I did like the Diva's song in this movie very much. I have two thoughts every single time I watch this movie: First, Milla Jovovich has the most gorgeous eyes. This isn't the only movie she's in where they include a close up shot of her eye, and I can see why. (Side Note: I am still waiting for someone to react to the movie "Kuffs" with Christian Slater and Mila Jovovich in what I think was her first big role. It's a fun movie that you may want to add to your list). Second, in the hotel/cruise ship in this movie, when the bomb is detected and the alarms go off, it shows little red siren lights popping out of the floor while the voice announces that the ship has to be evacuated. Wouldn't lights ON THE FLOOR be incredibly dangerous if people are running for the exits? I like a lot of the details they came up with for their vision of the future, but that may very well be the dumbest idea I have ever seen. Why not just have tripwires pop out in all the doors if you're trying to get people killed if they panic? ✌️🤓

I saw this in the theaters a long time ago, have watched it many times since, and I am convinced that it is a commentary on the Military-Industrial Complex that President Dwight Eisenhower warned about. Zorg represents this. And Leeloo, who is Love, is the only thing that can save humanity from our innate nature to destroy ourselves. Besides that, amazing soundtrack, costumes, and Chris Tucker was absolutely hilarious!

I also noticed that 1914 was the year the M- whatevers (sorry) took the stones from earth, as if they knew the destruction WWI would have.

If you don't already watch it - Adam Savage's Youtube channel is fascinating, and he was able to see and inspect one of the costumes of the Mandochewan - the big metal guys from the very beginning - in all it's practical costume glory.
