READY PLAYER ONE (2018) FULL LENGTH MOVIE REACTION - WATCH ALONG

Comments

Melissa Creel

Great way to start off Monday. One of y'all's reactions. ♥️

Lawrence Cromwell

Since I joined, I went through a portion of my movie collection and put aside some movies that you might pick to watch. Guess what, "Ready Player One" was one of them!

Joey Cintron

This movie is my whole childhood of pop references! Es ist wunderbar!

Joey Cintron

Hey I'm in Columbus , OH! lol This soundtrack is a vibe!

Dioskur

Ok, I have watched your videos for months now and I finaly have to ask, it can't wait, my confusion has reached a critical mass: Whats with that strange gesture at the start of every video? :D Whats the story behind that? As a long-time resident of the filthy abyss of the internet (and a mentaly unstable individual) I see something you most likely dont want to suggest....

Haywuud

I just joined. I got this movie to watch with y’all for the first time as well. Hope y’all have a great day. Much love and respect

If you wish to continue in the VR vein of this and Free Guy, I'd recommend Gamer (2009) and Surrogates (2009). Gamer has Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall. Premise is similar to people playing a game, but darker. Surrogates is Bruce Willis, and while not gaming related, is in the vein of VR and people controlling a surrogate body to go outside for them.

"Ready Player One" uses motion capture for a more realistic experience onscreen. The facial expressions are the actors' own. Olivia recently appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and spoke of being starstruck upon meeting Tom Cruise when he came to visit the set of "RPO". Olivia Cooke is from Oldham, UK, so hearing her speak with a flawless American accent in the film is quite a departure. She does not use her native Oldham accent in HBO's "House of the Dragon", either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUmMkHYMXGU The film has taken some liberties with the book although the screenplay was co-written by the book's author, Ernest Cline, so we can assume that he approves. This movie is always a fun watch and the visuals and attention to detail are incredible. Thanks for the reaction watchalong!

Kev

Thank you for this reaction. This is such a gem of a movie! Keeping with the Sci-Fi theme, I'm curious if Arrival is on your list? Don't need a date or anything, just curious if it's on the watchlist for whenever you all decide to get to it. It's a must see for sure! It's another Denis Villeneuve masterpiece.

Mister Lou

I remember first seeing this trailer and I had to rewatch it a couple times, as soon as I seen it's based on a book. I rushed to my bookstore and got it. read it twice before it came out in theatres. another great reaction guys! eagle eyes! you always catch subtle details, I was gonna say "go back and check out the grill on the DeLorean" but you already copped the Knight Rider lights.. not everybody sees that, their first watch. kudos

JF Ranger

That was a lot of fun. Thank you both. This movie is amazing.

Earl Grey

Great you enjoyed it. I did too. I hope you get a chance to listen to the audiobook of the original novel read by Wil Wheaton one day! There are SO MANY MORE references and advanced story lines they would never had the time (and copyrights!) for in a movie. It's well worth the time. There is also a second novel that is also fun.

Gursewak Singh

this was a great reaction! If you guys can please check out The Northman (2022) since you guys have a great appreciation of storytelling and visuals, you will enjoy it!

This Justin

I love your reactions. Watching you guys freak out over The Shinning and Meca Godzilla was one of the best single moments for your channel. I was you guys 20 years ago. You have to watch Toy Soldiers. I promise you will love it, and it will earn me your ear for more recommendations that the average Joe has forgotten about.

BlueJean452

Love your reactions. I see that you guys seem to be big fans of The Shining. If you haven’t seen it you should react to Doctor Sleep (2019). It is a sequel to The Shining. Such an amazing underrated film.

T Holly

I have tried a few different movie reactions/YouTube channels. You guys a by far the most entertaining! I love how intelligent, insightful, and entertaining you are. Thank you for keeping me company. (This was my first Patreon reaction) Enjoyed every minute 😁😁😁😁

The Media Knights

This made me laugh so hard 😂 It's just me saying hi! Super quick hi that can sometimes get blurry because of the movements and whatnot.

The Media Knights

Hope you enjoyed watching this! Thank you so much for joining us ❤️ Have a fantastic day!

The Media Knights

No wonder their faces looked great and expressive! Motion Capture is such a powerful tool. Can't wait to see Olivia again in "House of the Dragon" in a couple of days 😄

The Media Knights

Well I'm happy to announce that we do in fact have quite a few Denis Villeneuve films lined up to come out fairly soon. And "Arrival" will be one of them😄

The Media Knights

Wow! Thank you so much for the compliment. It warms our hearts to see you having a great time with these. Thank you for making our day ❤️

The Media Knights

Adding it to our list! Kinda scary going into "The Shining" sequel...don't really know what to expect. But we trust you guys.

The Media Knights

Oh man! We lost it! Super fun surprises. "The Shining" sequence caught us completely off guard. Adding "Toy Soldiers" to the list. Thank you for the suggestion 😄

The Media Knights

Adding it to our list! Thank you for taking the time and recommending a film ❤️

The Media Knights

Been hearing some amazing stuff about the book! Definitely gonna check it out when we have a chance ❤️

The Media Knights

Those Knight Rider lights looked sick on the DeLorean! Thank you for checking this out, we're so glad you had a fun time.

BlueJean452

Aww thank you. I absolutely love it. IDK if you have watched any Mike Flanagan shows (Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Fall of the House of Usher) but he is the one who directed and wrote the screen play for Doctor Sleep. Definitely underrated in my opinion.

The Media Knights

Nice call! Definitely know our taste. Hope you enjoyed this as much as we did.

The Media Knights

So many references! It was such a fun ride filled with surprises 😄

The Media Knights

All the 70s and 80s bangers in this were really a vibe. Perfect way to set the mood.

Donna Castellano

The reason the score reminds you of Back to the Future is because Alan Silvestri scored those films and Ready Player One. He was putting his own motifs into the RP1 score.

I loved your awe and wonder about the whole film, not just the pop culture references. It was a great romp through my childhood and early adulthood; pure magic for me. I do suggest you look at the movie Excalibur. At least one familiar face and I suggest you listen closely to any spells uttered by Merlin, and think of this movie.

Gabriel KD

I've been gaming all my life, this movie was a treat when I first saw it, and it is a treat now.

David Lonewolf Wright

I think Halliday is an engram, like Johnny Silverhand in the Cyberpunk 2077 game. For a fun surprise, you should check out Quigley Down Under (1990) that has a very young Ben Mendelsohn in it. It is kind of like a young Kevin Costner in Silverado.

psylenced

This movie makes me think of all my favorite gaming memories. Getting my original xbox on Christmas morning, attending my first ever midnight release, the launch of the Xbox 360 and getting the call my 360 reservation was ready for pickup, playing rainbow six vegas 1&2 with 2 of my best friends for years. All these memories literally brings tear to my eye. This movie is a true gamer movie.

Nowhere Man

I previously watched your edited YouTube reaction, but I love this movie and wanted to watch it again, with you. In fact, I often watch this one and Free Guy as a pair, because of the similarities. It's seems obvious that the virtual (older) Halliday character is a true AI that is perhaps even fully sentient. However, the more-important question is: WHY did Halliday recreate himself? While there would be an obvious appeal to creating a virtual version of himself that could live INSIDE a virtual world (instead of merely interfacing with it), Halliday seems like the kind of person who would've undertaken such a massively-complex endeavor only if there was a compelling reason OTHER THAN ego gratification. The simple answer is that virtual Halliday was made to supervise his 3-key Easter egg challenge, but that seems like too much effort for relatively little benefit. But if virtual Halliday wasn't made simply for the challenge, then Halliday must've had some other, more long-term, plan in place. In other words, there was some other project or creation that Halliday wanted to complete, long after his death, and his virtual self was the only entity he trusted to complete it.

Michael Quinn

I think haliday somehow uploaded his conscience into the game so he will live on in the game

I know I'm going to go down a rabbit hole of my favorite reactions 🥰😍🥰 My 2nd full length reaction
