For a second, I thought they were going to go there with the scene on the porch. But they are cookin. What a great first episode!

I need you guys to help me out here. I've played the game 3 times. 2 times on the PS5, and one time on the PC (finished yesterday). Where was it alluded in the game that Joel killed Eugene? What the hell am I missing here???

I am one of the (I think) few people that actually like the 2nd game more than the 1st (LOVE both so much tho), and I reacted EXACTLY like you guys did at that last scene when Ellie comes back after the party, I literally had the same face and everything haha, if you know you know is absolutely correct. I really can't wait to see what they're gonna do with this season, I read somewhere that Neil Druckman is not only expanding the story, they are putting in pieces of the story that they couldn't fit in the game in the first place! So exciting!! So cool also to see a hidden level from the game - the area outside the barn at the party where the kids run around playing zombies and stuff :D Awesome reaction as always<3

From what I've seen, the fan base seems to be equally divided. And I'm also on your side. This is the only game that managed to made me cry (right at the end).

I just finished playing the game (TLOU2) through for only the second time and started a new grounded+ playthrough like 3 hours ago so I'm ready to be disappointed in how this season goes with the story fresh in my mind.

That's nonsensical. The first game had DLC. If there was more to add to the story, all they had to do was release DLC instead of re-releasing TLOU2 now a third time with no story changes (Complete Edition coming out.)

No where but to be fair I just finished a 2.5th playthrough (I paused my Grounded+ playthrough on PS5 at chapter 6 because I couldn't beat it) a few hours ago and started a new Grounded+ and played through most of the prologue so far. But the game explicitly says Eugene died of a stroke, in the prologue when Ellie and Dina are in the first outpost at the radio tower.

I hope this show doesn't do any stupid retcon that even further confuses people. "Fans" already have a hard enough time getting the facts of the story straight i.e that there was literally no reason whatsoever to think that killing Ellie to get her brainstem was going to lead to a cure. All of this is canon from the first game by the way so it's not spoilers. If you simply listen to the recordings and read the documents it says they have no idea if it will work or not, and then maybe some spoilers for season 2, Marlene has a whole conversation about it. This has nothing to do with The Media Knights but I'm saying people in general have confused the story and tried to replace it with their own head canon.

Not only is it better than part 1 by a landslide, it may be the greatest storytelling I’ve ever seen in a game to this day. It’s in my top 5 for sure.

That's also what I remember. Ellie said something like "we should all die like Eugene". As in from natural causes.
