So glad you guys are doing this immediately! I don’t get the negative reactions to this film, I thought it was amazing. The mirror shot was insane, and this is easily the best direction of the franchise thus far.

if you guys liked this one, you should totally check out the director's previous horror film, Infested. The weapon Alice used at the end is called a jackhammer Each book has different behavior and weaknesses for the Deadites it summons. The original book Ash and his friends found summoned Deadites who could only be dismembered and the book had to be burned. In Evil Dead 2013, the Deadites had a specific goal and there were 3 methods of getting rid of them: live burial, dismemberment, and fire. That book could not be burned or perhaps harmed in any way. The book they found in the bank vault in Rise specified that those Deadites could not be burned, they had to be destroyed completely, hence the woodchipper. There's also precedent for Ellie coming back. Deadites never actually die, they just return to hell until they're summoned again. When the Abomination came in the 2013 movie, it took the appearance of Mia's Deadite that her brother exorcised from her. They did something similar in 2 and I believe it was the movie that showed interacting with a Deadite through a mirror could also pull them into our world. As much as I would love Ellie to be in another film, I do think in order for her to be effective, they have to bring her sister and daughter back as well.

58:12 - The painting of Bruce Campbell is black and white. That means the character, Ash Williams has passed away. Later this was confirmed by Bruce that the character of Ash has been retired, and was written into this story as Ash dying. An "Eccentric Uncle that passed away." I believe that's Ash Williams.

This movie in general is an allegory of a toxic relationship and why "staying together at any cost" is more harmful than separating. The family's ownership of what they believe Alice is owed to them for their "In Law" arrangement. Over and over and over we see scenes of intolerance, flawed parenting, separation anxiety and severe depression, inability to cope with the reality of a family member's death.
