Oh boy. The video that started it all

Kons Weber

U rambling is all we want and need

Alex

This was my first vid of you that I saw, and I actually learned a lot from the first watch through so I subbed, crazy to think that was almost 4 years ago

Zasterly

I'd love to see Jaiden or Alpharad on for a future reaction, that would be very cool.

Jaykobell

This video was incredible, absolutely loved seeing you rip your old self a new one LMAO To answer your questions in order: getting a reaction with Jaiden and/or Alpharad would be amazing! Maybe even Kidd to honor the incredible Onix clip? I would also love one on Garbage Green! Especially since that video was, in my opinion, extremely well done, and it would be great to hear your thoughts on how far you've come between Jaiden's Ruby nuzlocke and Garbage Green 🙂 For the second question: if memory serves, yes! I found your channel via this video. In hindsight, I do recall thinking you were somewhat robotic/did not emote much during the jokes, but I figured they maybe weren't your style. Humor is subjective, so I figured they just didn't tickle you the way they did me. I was familiar with Nuzlockes at the time, but I hadn't heard about the hardcore nuzlocke scene. So while you think today that your insights then weren't all that good, at least for me, they were good enough to pique my interest! It made me check your channel, and I remember watching some of your other reactions; and then, the video that really sold me was the Emerald Kaizo video! I don't play Pokémon with those rules, and honestly, I don't do nuzlockes either...but it's really cool and impressive to me that you and others do! It's not my playstyle (I'm too impatient/I like winning easy LMAO) but I adore watching you guys pull those crazy cool strategies and working around the AI! Absolutely loving these director's cut videos! I enjoy how introspective and direct you are! Keep it up! 🫡

Kons Weber

I would rlly like the alpharad coop fire red reaction, that sabrina fight still makes me crack up. I think I found u through the first Jaiden Reaction, but something tells me it was earlier but I honestly do not remember. Love these videos, pls dont disappear again lol.

Owen Kennedy

I think it'd be gas to have co-commentators on when you react to their respective nuzlockes!

Phillip

would love to see you react to the full video of Alpharad reacting to all of your reactions, or all three of you reacting to your reaction of their soul link

Wil Briggs

I think a collab with either Jaiden or Alpha on one of these would be a really neat idea. Im not positive but i believe it was this video that I found you through, and back then I didn’t care much for most of the Poketubers that were uploading, so the almost cynical attitude you kinda gave off back then was an attractive quality. But looking back, this video is such a good example of rose tinted lens

N D

The pure relief on your face when something useful was said in the video is comedy gold to me.

Nick

I think this video was the first one of yours I saw. I actually really enjoyed your reaction at the time. I realize why it's extremely cringe nowadays. I would like to see a reaction to the EK wipe compilation video, Garbage Green, (if you can get Jacob or Jaiden on a call) a reaction to another one of Jaiden or Alpha's nuzlocke videos, or if you can get both of them on a call, a reaction to the soul link video would be great too.

Justin Scott

I found you by your radical red run. And I think going back to a storm silver could be cool. Anything is cool tho.

5StarJellyFish

Very great analysis of your past self. It was very wholesome to see you reflecting on how much you've grown in your reaction videos. We always need more positivity in the world. Spread the good feelings!

5StarJellyFish

Also, a reaction with Alpharad at his first Nuzlocke video would be sick.

Andrés BG

I actually started watching your channel after the third jaiden nuzlocke because i didn't watch the other ones, and when you appeared in the video i went to your channel out of curiosity (i was like 'wtf is a pro nuzlocker'). In the end i stayed because of the content was really funny and honest, like this vid with you cringing your eyes out. I would love to watch some of your old stuff, the 1000 iq one or comments on your sentret only run would be great

Jamie Toyoda

Thanks for boosting the video audio on this one! 1. I would love to see a slightly more in depth reaction to your own runs where you go through some of the nuances of the lines that you didn't think your more general audience would be interested in/understand. These directors commentaries are interesting but focus more on you as a content creator rather than you as a pokemon player and I would like to see a bit more focus on the latter. Another idea around this is how you would do the lines differently now that you know more. 2. I did find you through this video and the follow ups after stumbling on you on twitch streaming EK which I followed religiously on my second monitor. My impression of you was that you made analytical pokemon content for adults, you weren't like other yelling, clickbaiting, pokestreamers who rage over the first crit they see or hunt shinies. These reasons are why I continue to watch your content (watching your pChal daily videos daily) and why I am happy to see you running run & bun again. I hope it is successful for you.

Freya

I think some of this to a much smaller degree about how much you used to just gloss over stuff is actually well described by RT when he watched your reaction to his HG run if you saw that video, obviously you're way more critical of yourself and go into way more here but that's the impression I got Also, you were right, my initial thought was "how the fuck can someone be a 'pro nuzlocker'?" and now ur one of my favourite creators (found u from the jaiden plat video)

Schmobots

Why do I think that Jan had to text Jaiden after this to profusely apologize about the initial reaction lmao

Jacob Greenwald

I think it was your blaze black video that I first saw, I wouldn’t mind a reaction to that or the original emerald trashlocke video because I think it might be the most edgy video of yours that I actually think would be very funny to see a reaction to.

Bardguy

If I remember correctly, I think I discovered your channel with the Jaiden Platinum reaction, then went back to this one and saw “oh hey, he did another one too!” Garbage Green was a great video (LOVED the intro, could really feel the inspiration from Jacob’s stuff), and back when I first watched your stuff, it was the two Jaiden reactions, and your two radical red videos (which I also greatly enjoy), that got me hooked. All those would make great Patreon content imo, though I’ll probably enjoy hearing your takes on any of your past works

SuperMemeBroz

I found your channel through the MandJTV reaction of the platinum nuzlocke, that reaction stands out cause you were more harsh back then and the fact that you despise YouTube comments

Marina Hayes

WONDERFUL cringing, I adored watching that I'd really love a director's commentary on the EK wipe compilation. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority in that I actually like that video more than the proper EK one.

Nick

I started watching your content because someone told me to check out your streams because I was watching Wolfey's EK streams, around a few weeks before the first E4 attempt

Fafchi

I think it was either this one or the reaction to jaidens platinum Nuzlocke which got me hooked. Since then I´m watching basicly everything you are throwing out. But because I´m rarely on twitch, most of Stuff I consume comes from youtube. Now and then I joined your streams, but for me Videos are mostly stuff that runs on my 2nd Screen while I´m playing something. Even back then I was just fascinated by the fact how complex a nuzlock can be, for me this war new content, I´ve never heard of nuzlocks before that video. But I loved the thought behind it. Most of the stuff I knew like the physical and special-split, but I never understood EVs back then. As for new content: I really would love to see more of you rewatching your old reactions, especially with jaiden and alpharad. I´ve watched your reaction to these two tons of times, whenever I´m in a mood for some quality and fun pokemon-nuzlock-content, I pick one of the old classics.

Banj

I'd definitely like to see more reactions for the Alpha/Jaiden content, especially if they're on as guests. This video actually was how I found your channel and tbh I didn't really feel like you were that much of an asshole. I think at the time I was so interested in the concept of a nuzlocke that anything said seemed like a good reaction even though in hindsight there were like 4 real things said. As for a first impression though, I kind of just liked how you came across and since it got better each video I stuck around.

Wyatt Johnston

Watch the blue kazio vid cause it’s awful

Max

Old you sounds like a fortnite v bucks scammer

Jack

Watching some of the really old videos I think would be super interesting, either something like early kaizo games or dark rising to see how that's aged. I think I actually found you via this video and bounced off the reaction because I hadn't actually seen the jaiden video before and just went to watch it myself. What eventually got me to stay was finding the rad red videos not long after that and then watching the original Pro Nuzlocker tries EK videos since my algorithm was recommending you by that point.

Bswest5

A great reminder that 99% of us would cringe at work we did at the beginning of our journeys. Of course most of our work doesn’t have 5.8M views, but. This was one of my intros to your stuff and clearly kept me around. Kaizo Blue or Garbage Green gets my vote for next vid

Gigos

Would love to see Jaiden come on to rewatch the Platinum video

Nukesifyy

I think that while you admit you know a lot more now than you did back then about Pokemon and YouTube videos, that’s the case for all of us as well. It’s easy to look back on this video and see all of this as elementary. I’m pretty sure I found your channel from this video *without seeing Jaiden’s video prior*. She explains a couple strategies really well and while you did only contribute 4 points yourself, there’s helpful insight throughout the entire video from both you & Jaiden.

TheMyr Man

New Patron here - here to answer the 2 questions you asked us at the end of that (if I'm not too late :P ) #1, On what I'd like to see next, I love the idea of getting Jaiden and/or Alpharad on a call for a directors commentary on another directors commentary video! The other thing I'd personally be really interested in hearing your directors commentary on would be one of your more informative-style videos, such as your "The Best Pokemon Game For Your First Nuzlocke" or one of your other tier list/ranking videos. Or the 150 EK attempts video (I love EK ok!?) #2, this video was not how I discovered your content, I actually found you through WolfeyVGC's Emerald Kaizo videos. Once I did subscribe to your channel however, one of the first things I did was go through the archive and watch the reaction videos you'd done up till that point, and at the time I liked those videos. I completely understand (and generally agree with) your criticisms in this video, but I enjoyed that format of video, with the familiar Jaiden videos and additional technical commentary as an interesting way to rewatch those videos, videos that I know I enjoy, but in a new enough way to have some more interest and novelty to keep my attention. (My ADHD brain likes the comfortable familiarity of videos I already enjoy, but the sprinkling of novelty through the additional commentary helps keep me engaged with it for rewatching).

Woopy Boi

Following your arc as a creator is part of the reason I enjoy your content so much. Back when I first watched this video I really liked it because I had never done a nuzlocke before & this helped me dive into my first run. Now that I've nuzlocked most of the games I enjoy your more mature content & Twitch streams because I've grown as you've grown. Watching you lose your mind during this commentary cut is hilarious btw | as far as next vids go, would love a garbage green commentary, would love a co jaiden/alpharad commentary, would also love a video where you talk about your team (editors, ROMhack creators, etc...) and how you think about the games you want to run for content/what you're looking forward to as far as new ROMhacks & why

Charlie Connor

I did find you through this video, and I honestly didn't remember how little your commentary added to it, as a viewer who had never heard of nuzlockes before. Calling yourself a pro nuzlocker was enough to believe you were right about saying nuzleaf is bad, for example, without any extra reasoning. You're right that the HP EV catch was what hooked people though, it's the only part I remembered as well. You've come a long way. I'd be interested more perspective on more recent videos you're proud of!

Mike

Getting Jaden or Jacob on a call for would be amazing! I got recommended your stream by a friend of mine who was super into challenge running older games like pikmin 1, Fire emblem, and Pokémon in college then a couple months later the Jaden video came out. I actually found Jaden thru this video.

Scott Pierce

These reaction videos would've been some of the earliest Pchal content I watched, and it's funny because I cringe with you now knowing a good chunk of the nuance (learnt through your channel), but at the time when new to nuzlocking, this legit seemed insightful and not that cringe. What brought me to your channel I think would've been the tier lists of each generation, when I started nuzlocking and was trying to figure out which encounters were good or shit. I loved those videos, and maybe it's lame low-hanging fruit content, but I'd be super into more stuff like that (i.e., if you had like a 'Nuzlocke Hall of Fame' for your favourite Pokemon across generations, your opinion for top 3 of each type, shit like that)

cameron malone

I love how 2024 Jan is talking to 2019 Jan like a strict Olympian sports coach. This video was hilarious.

The_Badger1230

I had found your channel before this video, around the time of the Dark Rising Streams. I was in and out but Emerald Kaizo and the reaction content are what got me into watching you more regularly Love the commentary and it can be nice to see how far you've come in only a few years!

Julia Ziebart

I'm pretty sure I found your channel when Jaiden namedropped you in the soullink video. So it wasn't this. But I did watch this video and IMO it's definitely not as bad as you make it out to be, though your criticisms of yourself are really funny.

HeckMayster

I feel so vindicated after hearing you get so mad at yourself for the keyboard tapping because goddamn was it infuriating

synthiandrakon

Its interesting to see how much your perspective has changed, because like how i view the content has changed. There was definitley an element of "this is pokemon content for smart people who know abour pokemon as opposed to "those other youtubers" and i'll admit i sometimes even thought i was different for watching you, and there was a level of you being smaller and therefore the underground pokemon youtube. But like in hindsight you kind of realise, the "casual youtubers" i'd almost look down on, also had like dozens of hours in nuzlocke content, you'll see the most "cringe nintendo soy" youtubers show up to like a showdown tournament and they're using a cool interesting strategy and you slowly realise, damn we're all the same. What i probably considered the uncritical reactions in hindsight was them just actually engaging in the content of jaidens video rather than digging for the mechanics in what was primarily a story. I do think you can be harsh on yourself with these old videos they were fun, but like i do also look back and realise that maybe i took these videos a little too seriously

MASTERCHEIF1229 .

While this was one of your first videos that I watched, I'm pretty sure that I found your channel to either your reaction to Smallant's Platinum No Damage video, or your reaction to Wolfey's nuzlocke.

Quinten

This is probably not a unique experience but I scrolled through the comments and didn't see anyone else saying it so might as well. I grew up playing pokemon and watching let's plays on youtube, these let's play channels often did nuzlockes and I got really into watching them like 11 to 9 years ago. I then lost interest in those videos, because i feel like I aged out of the way too upbeat tone in them and was still too much of an impatient kid to finish them myself. The concept of the nuzlocke was still something I really enjoyed. Jaidens video popped up in recommended and it turned out to be one of the best youtube videos of all time, while also being about a topic I enjoyed. Then your reaction popped up and I watched it mostly because the original video was fun enough to watch again. The tone of the video showed there was a side of nuzlocking content which was not as over the top as what I used to watch and got me to click on the channel and watch a couple of the videos. I guess the main takeaway is that for me and I assume for others as well that this video works as an introduction to an aged up way to engage with pokemon/nuzlocke content.

Holloway Raulie

This was the first video I saw of yours and no joke I totally remember being impressed by the Magnezone HP EV thing, probably because I’m an extremely casual Pokemon player but it was still genuinely impressive! And you’re right the “pro nuzlocker reacts” concept was a huge draw.
