Content

We noticed there was a lot of discussion regarding the S3 Part 2 Opening, and whether we should watch it given the content. While we are still discussing as a team, we would love to hear your thoughts. If we decide to not show the opening, when would be the right episode/moment to show it?

Your feedback is much appreciated! Cheers

don’t watch opening, it shows the whole plot of the arc and spoils too many interesting moments. Especially since these guys look into the openings i think it would ruin some things

Devin reid

Do not watch the remaining openings at all until someone says the episode you can watch because they all have big spoilers

iTake_Shots

I’d say they can watch it after episode 19.

Jørg1

We all watched the intro our first times watching season 3 part 2. So in my opinion, withholding the intro only takes away from the experience of watching this show. Great music, great visuals and idk if there even is that much more information in this intro compared to the previous ones.

sorb

Yeah, personally I'm team watch it. It is cool as fuck and even if it shows some fight scenes whatever, it only serves to hype the lads

Sofomo

I think folks look at the opening and see spoilers because hindsight lets you see all the implications. Going in blind you don't necessarily know what you're looking at, because there's no context yet. As long as you don't dissect it scene by scene, or watch it on repeat to memorize it, you can watch the OP as a hype video and it's not going to ruin things.

OVADIO

I would say to wait till episode 3 if you're going to wait most of what shows up in the opening happens in the first 2 episodes and the moments after that Im 99% sure they won't get

Nick K

This is one of the openings that I wish I hadn't seen myself until farther into the season because it does spoil a lot of things, more blatantly than other openings. Usually openings will do thematic scenes that reference things to come without explicitly showing them, or just showing made up scenarios that aren't actually how the events will play out, but this opening just lays out events of several episodes. I'd recommend asking the guys to make the final decision, would they rather things potentially get spoiled or hold off a few episodes for more surprising reveals within the show? Episode to hold off until would be 17/54, or the 5th episode of part2 so just don't watch it for the first 4 of part 2. I even just cross referenced the episode contents with the opening and that's where they'd be able to watch the opening comfortably without feeling like major scenes are already spoiled for them.

kiiturii

so far they've read into the openings too much, since s3part2 is basically just clips of the entire arc I'd recommend to only watch it afterwards same goes for s4part2 opening

kiiturii

yeah I watched it when I was watching the show, but.. I wish I hadn't lmao..

Jack Evans

All of you guys are saying this after watching the show. The amount of things they have 'read into and been wrong about is a lot compared to what they have been right about. Don't take away something that is part of the viewing experience. In reality all it does is show some fight sequences and maybe one specific thing about a character (armin) that they won't guess anyway.

Jack Evans

Also how are there more comments than votes????

ErendGoat

Lol stop listening to these niggas plz watch the openings. Everything is completely out of context and you won't even get it until you actually watch the episodes

ErendGoat

Not to mention a lot of the visuals are very quick flashes. You literally won't get anything unless you pause and try to break down everything in the opening.

Jørg1

exactly! with this logic then they shouldnt have seen the third opening- because you see Eren fighting the armored and colossal titan.

Bibi

I would have said watch the opening if you guys don't analyze openings/endings....but you guys do and it could be a massive spoiler in my opinion so I would recommend NOT watching the opening. 😊 I say see the opening after episode 19 but do what you guys are comfortable with at the end of the day because I wouldn't be mad at you guys for watching the opening

Kaze

Analysing or not I think seeing openings are parts of the experience about AoT. Getting pumped-up. The vast majority of watcher of AoT watched the openings and it not resulted on decreasing there experiences so I don't know why this is a thing when we watch other people react to it

Mizzy

Watch it once and then skip it for episodes after (til the events of the op have passed). They won't remember enough to be truly spoilered.

iTake_Shots

I would be on team watch it IF they didn’t analyze the openings so well. Episodes 16,17, and 18 are literally some of the best TV episodes to ever exist and the OP spoils it. *SPOILERS* It quite literally shows the beast titan throwing the rocks at the charging scouts, it shows Bertolt’s Nuclear transformation, Reiner with thunder spears in his back, Erwin in a standing in the crowd of all his past dead comrades, also it shows a skeletal face of the Colossal which then flashes to Armins face, and then of course it shows the basement doors. And if someone like me could pick up on those things the first time I watched then they definitely can. I just wish I never watched it after I did.

makotheQ60

Everybody saying they should watch it if the don't analyze it do you not remember Nile was figuring out late game stuff from season 2 ed?! He's extremely perceptive and he will figure things out before they play out

makotheQ60

But they do Nile was figuring out season 4 pt 2 stuff from the season 2 ed

Nick K

I'm noticing a lot of comments saying it won't spoil as long as they don't "try to figure it out" The reason people are saying something about this opening and haven't for the previous ones is because there's nothing to figure out, it just shows reanimated shots of what actually happens and in some cases literally just uses the exact same shot that's in the actual episode. I 100% believe it should be their choice if they want it or not but there's merit to the caution some of us suggest.

Nick K

The opening scene you're referring to never actually happens in the show though. It's not a spoiler even in hindsight because that literally doesn't happen. We do get a fight between them but it happens in a different location with completely different events. This next opening spoiled things so specifically for me that going forward with the show I would always wait a few episodes before looking at the opening just for fear of spoiling early season surprises.

Sarcaamstic

I see so many people stressed about the fact that Nile caught onto some things watching season 2 ed but I don't get it. People always comment that they love the theorizing when it comes to AOT but whenever the theorizing hits the nail on the head they lose their shit. Even if the guys guess some plot points here and there, AOT is so packed with crazy moments that they will get their mind blown no matter what. It's actually crazy cool to see that some reactors are sometimes on the same wavelength as Isayama. I'm always on team "watch the OPs" because it's intended as part of the experience. If we want 0 hint as to what the story is about, we can always read the manga first.

Pikushi (ピクシー)

Definitely not. S3 P2 is a literal spoiler. They don't know what's coming and letting them see the events of basically the first 3 eps is crazy talk. Just... turn in your seat and listen or something, just don't watch it yet.

Pikushi (ピクシー)

Exactly. It's all well and good to listen to it, but I don't think watching it is wise. Just have them turn in their seats or something. You should be fine to watch it after like ep 19

Ender

definitely dont watch it cause the group is too good at analyzing it since you watch it over 10 times and itll ruin the impact of the end of the season on them. this opening is nothing but spoilers.

Tyler Lee

I just rewatched the op and i think you guys should definitely wait to watch it. I think the group should listen to it so we can get a reaction to the song but don't watch the visuals until the last ep so you avoid spoilers.

Frida BØ

Maybe watch the op on the last or last two episodes

Euan

I think definitely skip them and do a reaction after the season, it straight up spoils the surprise of some plot points.

Jamie See

The op is out of context so you guys won't know what's happening until the actually episodes. So I think you can watch the op.

Vortex

Def skip the opening it just spoils and could possibly take away from the surprises. you only get one first time experience :)
