THANKS FOR THE LIGHT

Dasha

Sanji is him yes

Dasha

payback is a bitch 🚬

kuza

🚬

Kae D. en

I needed a light

Franina

The part with nami and usopp with Enel on the ship was so funny to me my first time watching. That scene made nami and usopp one of my favorite strawhat duos lol.

saDbo

Man, I love Sanji

Marcus D

I’m always here early for PEAKpiea🙏

Marcus D

SANJI MY PRINCE

Qhoa

W

Zipzzty

PEAKPIEA

julia

My glorious king Sanji. I thought we're gonna get the backstory but I guess I have to wait 2 more days.

Marcus D

Just a random translation correction @2:33, Rather than saying “I have no regrets”, Nami actually says “I don’t want to have any regrets”. To which those regrets would come from staying with Enel due to fear and that’s why she wants to get off the ark, even if it’s life risking.

Marcus D

Sanji with the Charlie sheen 2 and a half men drip.

Adeeb Alothman

can't wait for the next arc it's one of my favorite arcs in this show

greyxwaren

the love i hold for usopp is the same for a brother, did i wish for him to be born? no. but we’ve been through a lot together so i appreciate he exists

Marcus D

Japan calls testicles ‘kin tama’ which directly translates to golden ball(s) thats why Aisa got mad at luffy lol.

Frozzen Edge

i'd be great if we get end of skypea on thrusday like a small 4 ep binge

Nick

That would be 6 episodes

Mahti

Peak LRLL

Shaun V

Cannon I genuinely don't know what you expect from Ussop half the time haha, like if he's showing up to enel scared how is that not fair, he knows he could never beat Enel and his fear is a completely normal response to being forced in that situation. Why do we have to expect every character in a show to be fearless and brave in dire situations when even in real life, most people wouldn't react like that. Surely you can look past this one trait, or atleast expect that it is a character trait he has had and will have for the near future

Marcus D

😭 harsh but I can accept that.

Marcus D

LRLL goated for real. Top 32 arc in one piece

Roks

I agree with Cannon's take on Usopp, at this point of the show Usopp is also my least liked straw hat member. (p.s. me saying at this point of the show is not me saying my view of him has changed or hasn't)

Marcus D

Nami dispensed a shield of static electricity , which is one of her clima tact moves, thunder ball. So Enel’s lightning hit that static electricity and was guided to go over and avoid nami I guess.

Nashi

Except 90% of his dialogue is him whining and being scared. The concept works but the execution is annoying. Nami is a normal human and doesn't act like that, not saying he shoukd act exactly like Nami but he's a LOT worse

Dreamknight942

Definitely a Sanji W, and whilst I know the boys are not fans of Usopp. Him appearing before Enel to help Nami and going back for Sanji is pretty cool considering he is scared of everything

Tony

Dont get me wrong but I personally disagree, Ussop is 18 years old, he's considered a human in this world compared to the rest. I do understand that Nami is also human and that is correct, however ro me that is a flawed comparison. Nami since she was 10 years old was already dealing with the harsh reality of this world( OP planet ) whereas Ussop spent his entire life having a normal upbringing. "Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?" "'That is the only time a man can be brave". To be brave is to be afraid. To just run in without feeling fear is just pure recklessness. Ussop by all means necessary is a brave character at heart, something he doesn't even know which makes him even greater than he seems

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

Yeah, it's impossible for me to stack the weekly two episodes to watch at once like I thought I would be doing... Anyway, Jack, stop spreading misinformation, Luffy is no monkey!! lmao, that was a nice reaction guys, thanks!

Enma

Come on, Usopp doing a flying backwards jump while hitting the t pose and slamming into the side of the ship is hilarious. You can hate him but you cant tell me he's doesn't have funny moments.

sesaka

Well, kinda? Oda definetly took inspiration from Goku whos inspired by the Monkey king, Sun Wukong. So he is related to a monkey like behaviour/personality. and tbh, he is kinda a monkey lets be real.

Roks

yea that's a valid opinion ik many people that have the same views as you, also if Usopp wasn't the way he is we wouldn't have these funny moments of him, I don't hate him just at this point of the show he is my least liked straw hat and I find him annoying at some points.

HeavenlyR

Literally the first group I've seen not laugh at that lol, definitely worried about future Usopp moments if they're this far gone on him

Dasha

closing the door and "Nami save me" was hilarious too ;( kinda sad they’re not really vibing with Usopp, but can’t expect everyone to click with him either

Monkey D. Momo

Ussop ist the biggest tank in One Piece. He is scared af all the time but he tanks the same stuff as the monster trio.

Dasha

Regarding Carter and some comments explaining Usopp: I feel like there's no point in trying to explain a character or convince someone to love them. At this point in the show, I didn’t really like or dislike Usopp, but I can feel what Usopp's fans are feeling I became a Sanji fan the moment he showed up in Baratie, and I still can’t fully explain why he’s stayed my number one no matter what he does. Maybe for me personally it’s just more fun to follow characters who are flawed and dynamic instead of OP ones with no downsides. But no matter how many times I’ve tried to “sell” Sanji to my husband or friends, it never really changed how they feel about him. And that’s totally fine. It just doesn’t click for them. Same here, no one should hate Cannon for not liking Usopp, and it's pointless trying to force him to

Dasha

A good moment to list things Sanji does very well: 1. Cooking 2. Kicking 3. Protecting Nami and Robin and looking after their wellbeing 4. Going on spy missions 5. Making epic entrances after his spy missions 6. And my favorite is always having a sassy reply to a bad guy

Maj

Unrelated to the reaction, but oh my days the anime is COOKING right now, you guys got no idea what you're in for

Enma

Yeah they need to keep an open mind because I feel like their hatred for him is overlooking a lot of his redeeming qualities. Like him being a jack of all trades, building creative tools and being like the only one repairing the ship every arc. Hopefully W7 can help them come back around.

Toska Water

@Tony Usopp is 17... Nami is the one that's 18

Mariam.03

THANK U!!! And please watch the next 2 episodes together ( ep 19 & 20)

Mauricio.

Peak piece! Is there a chance that we can have a doble drop on thursday? Would be great to watch 19 and 20 together <3

Maj

I can lowkey get the hate, pretty sure I wasn't a big fan of him either at this point in the show. But I put aside the hate for his whining just coz the geezer is a comedian

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

Their reactions are fun to me because I also couldn't understand the Usopp love or laugh at everything he's doing. Even with people calling him comedic relief or pointing out that he's like a regular person amidst super strong characters, none of that really did anything for me. To this day, he's my second to least favorite Straw Hat.

Marcus D

Nami’s waver has the Jet dial, the same dials as what Enel’s using to keep the Ark up. Yeah, Its a more powerful breath dial that went extinct in skypiea 200 years ago Pagaya said, but I guess Birka still had them.

Ari

You’re right, no one can choose who they like or dislike. The only thing we can do is try to understand a character that we don't like better so we can tolerate them

Ari

The next episodes are my favourite from this arc

Marcus D

Ussop is annoying and a coward but he has a good heart, good intentions and is brave when it matters so it barely bothers me.

Marcus D

Goated scaredy cats for real 😂

Aozora

Ussop is the coward thats slowly learning. He's pinocchio essentially. Much like pinocchio is trying to become a real boy, ussop is a boy learning to be a man. Ussop is the continuation of Pinocchio's story.

Marcus D

One pace hasn’t finished skypiea, there will still be one or two normal one piece episodes to watch after to end the arc.

Michael H

Shandian Village Hidden in the Clouds?! Would be the greatest twist ever if Killer Bee showed up for an assist.

Kayanolive

Yeah that whole Nami/Usopp thing reeeally dragged on. One Pace cant save everything. I dont remember this part maybe i speed read it in the manga cause of how unimportant it was

Mitch

It’s really insane how different the anime is post ep 900. Genuinely goes from mid tier animation to demon slayer/ jjk level every single ep. I guess that’s our reward for sticking with the show for that long lol.

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

I always loved characters that aren't developed at the start of the story because they are realistic and have more potential. Armin was also considered a coward and someone who lacks self-confidence but he developed beautifully. Being annoying is another thing

Fatipapi (Byakuya’s Girl)

Oh my days i cannot wait til i finish my school shit so i can just binge the LIVING FUCK outta these drops 😭😭😭😭 Im restricting myself to just the breaking bad/aouad drops as they’re less frequent but ughhh One Piece my goat, i miss you 🥺😭 and i miss interacting w the commenters here :(

YoItsNiko

chat can someone tell me why they think sanji isnt fully human. havent watched every reaction and i cant think of why they would say that.

Gon Freaky

Yeah can't wait for Long Ring.....

Luffers

You got this. All A's this semester

Zipzzty

He’s goated

Zipzzty

😭😭

Zipzzty

😭😭

Dasha

I guess Nami and others sometimes say about monster trio "these three are monsters" , "are they even humans", "we are just humans unlike you" etc. Carter probably meant that Sanji is far stronger than an average human so he can survive El Thor

Ella

at this point in the story, I feel like it's so easy to view usopp as nothing more than a gag character sometimes. I get what oda wanted to do with him but I feel like it could have been executed better; the voice acting makes it even worse.

Dasha

fr I rewatched some fights today and can confirm that's the best animation I ever seen

Mauricio.

Hindsight merchants started to explain "things" when they were on arlong park, specifically when Sanji was fighting under water, and the Geks started to belive things about Sanji, but that's all.

cozo

climax of the arc is coming

Murasaki

@Mitch DS and JJK came out in 2019 and 2020, more or less the same time OP animation peaked. I think it’s like the industrial improvement. I can’t think of an anime got high level animation before 2019.

ahmad

W

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! Enel is so freaking awesome, too bad he's a bad guy, for story purposes. I'm very happy he's a bad guy. :flirt:

Hector

Ussop does half the comedy for me, I just accept who he is

Niko

The bowser jr. pull is immaculate carter, went back and checked a video of the Mario Galaxy boss fight and the propellers actually sound VERY similar!!!

Keiji

They’re almost done with skypiea. I can’t wait for Long ring long island arc.

Touchmi

Lets be real here. Ussop is better than all of us.

Sandi uchiha

frick mantra. haku is where its at. Also, thats my goat sanji. (^__^) <3 USSOP IS HIM. stop sleeping on GODUSSOP

greyxwaren

funny enough even the people who dont vibe with usopp or dont like him as much enjoyed him early on when the stakes weren't so high. they switched on him post ts because of obvious reasons but early on? the majority enjoyed his character

Cannon Andrus

I don’t expect him to beat super powerful people, and he’s a very courageous character. Almost all of his dialogue is whiny/scared and hiding and crying and it’s just annoying hearing it 24/7.

Nami Swannn

🙄 Honestly Cannon just doesn’t understan-

TT1000

I’m cool with the Geks disliking characters and moments. I would hate it if they liked everything. Would seem disingenuous.

Rhettoric

I'm excited for the resolution of this arc. Nami and Usopp are such a chaotic duo, I love it. Zenitsu > Usopp is CRAZY to me, but I respect Cannon's authenticity. Let Oda cook...speaking of which, SANJI MY GOAT GOT HIS LIGHT

Dounia

Honestly Usopp is who he is and we love him for it. Eiichirō Oda didn’t create the character for nothing so I hope you’ll learn to appreciate him as well as everyone in the crew, they’re all important and they all bring something to the story. Whether people like it or not if there is no Usopp there is no One Piece.. each member is a step forward in the story and disregarding any of them is not in your interest as you’re following it.

desolate leng

Usopp took quite a long time to grow on me, to be honest. Longer than through this arc, and I think it's the same for a lot of people. One thing I will say is that the anime makes him yell a lot more than the manga, but yeah, he's not an easy character to like in the beginning. I'm not saying that I hated him, but I definitely didn't like him as much as the others. Yeah, I think that this arc has a few flaws that aren't ALL becasue of the anime adaptation, which had a noticeable drop in animation in this arc (this will go up and down going forward). There are some parts, like here, where there isn't much progress though a lot happens, and while it's not a horrible time or anything, Oda did get better at balancing this.

corLeonis

Watching them watch the early arcs of OP makes me reminisce. Dangggg im so proud of where they (SH) are right now 🥹

Wyvern

Keep in mind most people don't like Usopp at first. I used to hate him all the way until Water 7, but I can only appreciate him now because I know his character better. At this point in the story, compared to everyone else he is just this annoying complainer.

Wyvern

So excited for that one... said nobody ever.

Wyvern

Loving this arc, but I'm so ready for Water 7 and Enies Lobby

Dounia

I completely get that he is not the kind of character you like immediately it takes time for some people more than others… that’s why I just hope they keep an open mind about him and learn to like him for who he is as a character. Someone said in the comments that he’s the kind of character that really slowly develops and I completely agree. It makes sense because of the way he was introduced in the first place. As you know the anime is very long so he’s not going to change in only a couple of episodes… and I think they were expecting that that’s why there always coming at him 😅.

Jasmin☆

yes i love ussop thank u for getting it carter 🙂‍↕️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Mahti

yeah never really had a problem with Ussop reading the manga, but in the anime his constant screaming makes him pretty unbearable whenever he's screaming

Marcus D

🚬😮‍💨

Marcus D

I do like how candid they are with their opinions even when they know they’ll likely get heat for some of them.

Marcus D

Ron you don’t even watch one piece, what are you doing buddy😂

kuza

gonna be peak

Lina

u look kinda cute can i get to know ya?

Janina

Episode 1015, when? HAHAHA

Mr. John Kagurabachi

They are almost done with Skypiea. Can’t wait for the G8 arc!

desolate leng

And I still think that Yamaguchi is a great voice actor! He has a lot of range, and can put so much emotion in his voice. I guess I blame the direction here.

desolate leng

Oh yeah, I was wondering: do you read the cover stories? I didn't see anything, but I'm new here, lol. If you're interested, the cover stories that are finished by this point (aside from Koby-Meppo which were adapted into the anime) are these three (all the images don't load right away, just click at the expand button when you reach the bottom): Django’s Dance Paradise (Happens during Little Garden to early Alabasta) https://imgur.com/a/fCK4AW1 Hatchan’s seafloor stroll (From Alabasta to Jaya) https://imgur.com/a/LQtxiQX Wapol’s omnivorous Hurrah (From Jaya to middle of Skypiea) https://imgur.com/a/xhOm7V1 I made a note of where they take place. I bet you were REALLY wondering about Wapol, right, lol. But really, they are fun. And we do check in with other characters along the way! These are the coloured versions, which I don't think look as good as the black and white, but I couldn't find a black and white compilation with good quality.

Marcus D

There’s a video format for them. I think that would be better for a reaction rather than scrolling through imgur

desolate leng

Oh, I didn't mean as a reaction, just for them to read if they liked. It's not really a format that suits reactions, I agree.

Saint

this might just be but i feel like the one pace version cuts out a lot of dialogue so you go "huh?" bc they cut it out so the context is missing :( but i cant believe were almost done with skypeia!!

JayCnY

it really is impressive how much this show straddles the line of cool anime and clown show

Wyvern

Yeah I think they're still not use to the sheer length it takes for plot points and characters to develop in One Piece. I'm sure they will love him in time, I'm thinking it will be after Water 7 or post timeskip that the Usopp love kicks in.

Ari

The best is coming

EmlovesOP

after long ring long land I hope peop;e stop recccomending it...

DietCocaine

no thriller bark needs to be one pace.

ahmad

What context? It literally follows the manga dude. 4 of them praised One Pace in the outro. If they have a problem with it, then they'll mention it..

Saint

Sure but I hate the way they made the cuts so much 😭

Natacha

The scene with Nami and Usopp on the ship is way too funny, and you guys did not laugh...

EmlovesOP

We are getting the same amount of eps now it's just poorly cut... I rather the original where it flows nicely than this..

Saint

Thank you EmlovesOP You understand where I’m coming from on this 😭

ahmad

The original where it's dragged out and makes it less enjoyable? Yeah no thanks

E L

@emlovesOP punk hazard - dressrosa should be in one pace

Mahti

They should do a poll for every arc on whether to use One Pace

Dani G

Sanji is my number one too and always has been!

Dani G

“I like Sanji, what the eff?” 😂 The defensiveness.

xSaorix

Yes. That’s his story. To become a brave warrior of the sea. He has a long way to go, but I also think that being a little panicky will always be a part of his personality, and I like that about him. It’s a part of him

Marcus D

Like Mauricio said, During Arlong park Geks we’re criticising Sanji getting his innards crushed by water pressure and holding his breath for such a long time; and hindsight merchants decided to give them a reason for it based on future events. But I honestly think that reasoning is BS anyway, so many other regular humans showed durability feats similar to sanji during that time, it’s just the standard of the OP world that some people are or naturally become physically phenoms. So yeah hindsight merchants fumbled.

Marcus D

Understood, although I personally and I think many others would prefer them to react to them on camera since they answer and resolve a lot of questions and criticisms they’ve had with the story.

Marcus D

After LRLL I think they should stick to original one piece until the FMI saga. That period of time is the most well regarded section of the anime, so it would be good if they got to experience it like how most us and the world has.

Marcus D

@mitch, well not every single ep, there’s still pretty lack lustre looking episodes/ portions from time to time, let’s not set false expectations lol. But we do frequently get very good animation sequence on a weekly anime, so we’re definitely being spoiled(treated well).

John D. Acebes

I think first time viewers and the Geks still need to give Usopp some more respect for his character, no matter how much he whines and/or seems useless because of his inherit flaws being a member of the crew. Luffy - super strong and instinctive battle wit. Powered by a devil fruit that makes him practically invincible to blunt force attacks and electricity. Zoro - inhumanely strong and seasoned pirate hunter with the dream of being #1 swordsman in the world. Willpower and ambition that enables him to surpass typical human feats. Sanji - lived with pirates his whole life with unexplained inhuman capabilities Nami - learned to live among ruthless pirates and made a living stealing from them for years Chopper - Capable of enhancing himself with speed, strength, and intellect Robin - Lived a life being hunted by the government since being a child. Powered by a devil fruit that makes her super versatile in most situations. Then we have Usopp. Lived a life without a father, lead a band of kids playing pirates, and lying to himself and others to keep himself going. Not powered by any other means other than his inventiveness and willpower to be a better warrior. I am glad Carter acknowledged his role as the realistic representation of what a normal person would feel. I know I would shit myself if I had to try fighting a man who shoots electricity out of the damn sky, and I respect Usopp for always trying to overcome his ceilings. I will admit though, I am unaware if there is or will be an explanation for how he is able to tank the things he does. I've always put it in my head canon that he also possess a more discreet amount of willpower that lets him push through adversity, like being electrocuted twice. It is just not explicitly shown and is outweighed by his more outward cowardly nature.

desolate leng

Yeah, it would be fun to watch, it's just that they seem to have a lot to do already! Didn't mean to add to the workload, lol. And they might still talk about it even if they read it off camera, if we're lucky?

desolate leng

I think that you can understand these things and still find a character annoying and unappealing, though. And you do get a different perspective when you have loved a series for a long time and become, well, "used to" the parts of it that are even MEANT to be annoying. And I think the series will speak for itself eventually, no need to hurry opinions along! It's always better to let people get there on their own terms. And hey, being less into a character isn't that big of a deal at the end of the day, even if they never really come around to him. (Do I despise an extremely popular character? Why, yes, lol.) Anyway, I think that aside from the fact that EVERY character is a lot more resilient than in reality, Usopp actually IS stronger than the average citizen. He's been through a lot at this point, but also, he's been training with that slingshot a lot and you can seen that it's made him stronger. I mean, even if it's played for laughs, he does hold himself up horizontally by just his armstrength that time in Arlong Park, for example.

desolate leng

Nami and Usopp the chaotic duo is one of my favourite things, they crack me up so much. The gossip lady stance here! And even on a more serious note I think that they have a closeness that comes from being the two on the ship who are more like regular people, without monstrous strength or abilities. I think that's shown by how Usopp asks Nami if he's a pitiful coward back in Jaya, where he accuses Norland of being a liar. Nami doesn't just understand, she has the same impulse, even if she doesn't express it. She doesn't just accept his fear (like the others), she viscerally understands where it comes from. They understand each other on a level that the rest of the crew can't. And I really love how friendships are portrayed within the Strawhats with these differences, without devaluating any. I'm not saying they care MORE about each other than anyone else in the crew, it's more that they have this unique understanding. Or at least that's my take.

desolate leng

I know he's meant to be the Monkey King archetype, but he also has such an orange cat energy. Always perching on the high spots, negotiable number of braincells, gets stuck in that hard to reach corner where the bookshelves meet while protesting he has no idea how it happened...

Tom

Em 95% of the 'weird' cuts are in the original and are not One Pace.

John D. Acebes

You right. I'm not saying they should definitely stop with all the hate or start fake glazing to appease people like me. I just wished that as a group they gave more props to the good Usopp does at times. Sanji couldn't get on that ship without Usopp's silly rope device and Sanji wasn't getting off after being electrocuted without Usopp's help. I'm also aware they will have their time in the spotlight further along the story, so I understand my crash out is not timely and maybe I will get the reactions I hope for in regard to Usopp.

EmlovesOP

Im gonna trust yall then

shlumlord

Different humor for different ppl, I laughed tho 😂

Keiji

You say that but what about the ending?

Wyvern

Your right, afro Luffy is quite possibly the best part of the entire series, but getting to it is so painfully long.

zak

very debatable alot of ppl still dont mess with him that hard currently
