Also I’m pretty sure I read that the part where they’re video taping themselves is a mirror of an actual ferry incident that happened in South Korea in 2014. Ferry capsized and the captain and crew were charged for fleeing and abandoning ship. A lot of the deaths were high school students. There were clips found that the high schoolers took on the ferry before it capsized. Just like this story where the young ones are in danger and the adults are failing to help them.

That scene of the army/special forces trying to shoot the dad and missing badly was the worst scene in the series, it wasn't even needed. Maybe it was homage to The Walking Dead. It's even more ridiculous when you consider military service is compulsory for young men in South Korea.

Yeah it was tragic and so messed up. It was the Sewol Ferry tragedy. I watched a documentary on it on Youtube and cried my eyes out... :-(

Yes, Stephanie Soo (Rotten Mango) also covered this case. It’s so heartbreaking that the captain and the majority of the crew fled the sinking boat. The scene where Nam-ra and Su-hyeok tie their hands together with a red ribbon is also a parallel to the tragedy, as many civilian divers reported finding students who had been tied together with red ribbons.

Guys the show won't confirm it in show, they onli do one the cast videos. The Prez Nam-Ra and Gwi Nam etc are immune and not undead they still alive but do get zombie seizures as we see with Namra this episode. On Jo pretty much says its this episode how some people will be immune. The virus enhances them, Nam-ra is basically what the scientist dad wanted for his son.

i feel like i'm always in these comments sections with my korea lore so why not keep going? this episode always makes me emotional for one reason and one reason alone: the real life parallels. i don't know how familiar everyone is with the Sewol Ferry Tragedy that took place in Korea in 2014. it was a massively broadcasted tragedy and for good reason–every adult involved failed the victims and the survivors as well as all their families: it resulted in the impeachment of the president at the time. i won't go too much into the details, there are loads of free documentaries out there that i'd highly recommend you all to watch; but basically, a ferry carrying hundreds of predominantly high school students capsized and sank on its way to Jeju Island from Incheon. there are heartbreaking videos you can find online of the students on the ferry, sending 'i love you' messages to their parents, making jokes about how they'll be fine and see each other soon; playing games etc. the kids on board got told to stay put whilst the captain and some of his crew escaped; the kids put all their trust in the adults and they more than failed them. they left them for dead. out of 476 passengers, 304 died (mainly high school students). knowing this context, the scene of the surviving students in aouad filming messages for their families and vowing to take revenge on the adults who failed them and their school...it hits HARD.

Yes I was wondering if anyone else noticed it as well! I would say this whole show is mirroring that accident, considering that has been the main theme throughout out this show. The whole «who does our country value more» thing, the quarantine place showing they haven’t rescued any schools or kindergartens. The detective asking "what is wrong with this world", letting kids fend for themselves.

They likely didn't actually want to kill him, but were under orders to. Maybe they missed on purpose, making it seem like they're not defying orders while still not having to kill someone. You might want to consider stuff like that. Especially seeing a similar thing literally happened in real life SK just 6 months ago during a certain martial law fiasco, so it's not unrealistic. Even in the show you had the guys in the helicopter that also didn't kill someone they were ordered to kill.

The main point of shooting someone fleeing a Zombie Quarantine is that even a single infected person leaving is a potential risk to the safety of everyone in the world. Sure there a shitloads outside already, but they have to start somewhere and contain as much as they can. In a quarantine the containment is kind of the whole purpose. They can't tell that he's not actually infected mid-chase.
