Kpop is a huge industry in South Korea. There are hundred of Kpop groups, boys and girls. BTS is the biggest because they blew up worldwide opening a lot of doors in the west for Kpop. But yeah now there are so many groups that are popular worldwide

I feel like there's not much to react to lol Like it's not like with the shows where you can give your opinion to the storyline and the characters. MV's and stuff are too short and loose for that. Theyre just gonna sit there for three minutes and tell us whether the music was nice or not at the end. That's not really that much fun i think. And kpop stans get wayyyy too butthurt if you dont pay enough attention or are too quiet etc during reactions, the comment section would be hell

Also, i thought I'd add, kpop is NOT A MUSIC GENRE. It's a separate music industry. Groups like straykids and bts have over 50 music genres in their discography. The reason kpop is a music industry is because there's different fan culture, and it's WAY more fast paced than the pop industry. It's common for a kpop group to release an album every couple of months. The "generations" in kpop only last about 10 years, and groups can disband even faster. Thanos from squid game was T.O.P in the group BIGBANG which is a 2nd gen group, BTS and BLACKPINK are 3rd gen, groups like STRAYKIDS and IVE are 4th gen, and we're currently in k-pops 5th generation. That doesn't mean that all groups will disband when their generation ends though. BIGBANG and SHINEE are active 2nd gen groups, and almost every 3rd and 4th gen group is still active and more promotional than some 5th gen groups. There are even kpop adjacent groups like Xdinary Heroes (rock band that promotes on the same level as kpop groups) KATSEYE (global girl group with 6 different nationalities, ethnicities, cultures etc. That don't sing in korean but promote like a kpop group) and DPR IAN (once a 2nd gen kpop idol but doesn't associate with the industry anymore, who is now a solo R&B/experimental artist but will occasionally promote on Korean music shows and interact with kpop idols and etc) and WayV (Chinese group who are also all a part of the massive kpop group NCT, and promote like kpop groups) so yeah.. sorry for the essay..

A lot of Kpop groups actually have storylines running through their MVs especially BTS their storyline is so intense a kdrama was made about it. Also Kpop groups have so much fun side content like reality shows

I think considering how much Cannon fanboys for All Might I can easily see my boy get sucked into a girl group like BlackPink or Twice. He has that fanboy DNA haha. You must understand that the reason Kpop is so big is not just the songs themselves. It's the music videos, the choreos , the variety shows, the fancams. It's such a different industry than ours. Obviously, the negatives of it have been discussed to no end on the internet and they're all valid but people forget that these negatives are a part of the Western industry to a degree too. As long as you go explore Kpop with that in mind then you can appreciate what it aims to do

theyre not incentivized to do much else for quite a while, eastern fanbase is quick and loud so they get quite a bit of traction on the reactions initially and thats what feeds you into peoples algorithms. that being said, most of the western stuff is evergreen content in the sense that they garner quite a lot of views over months/years from just being backlogged and there for new subscribers to go back and watch, so its a shame theyve completely flipped and hardly do anything western, especially when the first couple years of the channel theyve been the "iMDb guys" and really into cinema, even having a period where they were doing like 3-4 western shows/movies at a time with multiple uploads of some per week, but have since ignored a really long list of old and modern classics to ride these new waves. like you said, nothing wrong enjoying different things, just sucks what we've come to expect, has gotten thrown aside to make room for whats being uploaded now

as much as i love the genre personally, and I've been into it for almost 10 years now, I would respectfully say, kpop is a bag of worms you don't want to open. It's even more consuming than the world of kdramas and ya'll have barely dipped your toe into that. Getting into korean media comes with an endless stream of requests and it's so terribly drama filled. Maybe a few videos of reacting to one song from different groups would be fun and cool but even that would lead to people complaining about the songs and the groups you didn't watch. Kpop fans can be incredibly entitled with reactors, even more than what you've seen with anime fans.

Some of the people in these comments are so weird. "You dont wanna get into kpop because the fans are crazy" i absolutely hate when people say this because people dont get into kpop for the fans anyway. It's about the appreciation of hard work and the music and performance. And for what it's worth, as long as the reactor is respectful about what isnt for them, and they set boundaries like "no spam requests" or "be respectful in the comments" I would say 90% of kpop stans adhere to that. "Kpop stans are worse than anime fans" every Fandom, if large enough is going to have bad people in it. Kpop stans are just viewed as "crazy defensive" because 90% of people who dont listen to kpop are really rude and hateful towards it.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve seen so many YouTube reactors either take a break or shut down their channels entirely because of the pressure from the comment section. Even if they started off doing it for fun and everything was going well, over time, people became more demanding, selfish, and insistent, expecting them to react to every group and like every song. It’s incredibly draining. To be honest, I’m a former K-pop fan myself, and now I can’t stand the community. I only check in on how BTS are doing from time to time, but I avoid K-pop spaces online completely. That’s why I really don’t want Geks to go through the same thing. so right now, with the release of this movie and across the spiderverse, sony has released 2 great animated movies, but… they dont fulfill the promises of the plot elements because they want to save it for another movie so instead of getting the pay off from the set up in the movie, you have to wait for the sequel which is basically a big cash grab that really pisses me off to think about because it ruins good stories. but to me, it was just so clear that these creators wanted to tell a bigger story but they couldnt probably due to budget constraints, I’m sure a movie like this does take a lot of time, but still, I just want a full complete movie in this era of hollywood

I commented about the imbalance you're talking about on their final One Piece Week upload, but I got ratio'd. They are catering to a certain demographic that I don't fit into, and the resulting lack of variety makes me feel disconnected from the community. It makes me wonder: how long has it been since they've done a live-action poll, or even a poll in general? I think some of them were deleted because the last new movie/show poll shown on the Patreon for me (excluding Juicy Tier) was posted on December 19th. Regardless of how chaotic the polls got, they made things feel less spontaneous, and they somewhat reflected what Patrons were looking for. The reason I say "somewhat" is because the Geks would often skip posting a final poll for the two most-voted options. If the majority didn't vote for a specific show, that same show could still win because the majority couldn't agree on what alternative option to vote for. An example would be Alice in Borderland having 38% of the poll votes while Vikings, The Walking Dead, and The Haunting of Hill House made up the other 62%. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the Geks can take the channel in whatever direction they want, but the people paying for "live-action only" and "exclusive voting power" should see more benefits from their support. While I'd like to stick around, I'd need something that feels fresh, or that I've seen before. I don't even dislike animated or foreign movies and shows, but I prefer watching reactions to media that I've already seen. On a personal level, I just haven't taken the time yet to dive into most of the anime they've watched. As for the foreign live-action series, I hadn't even heard of most of them until they uploaded their reactions. Unfortunately, the oversaturation of movies and TV shows can make starting something new overwhelming, especially on top of everything else I have going on. A lot of the things I've most anticipated from the Geks haven't been watched yet, and I also miss the non-PVP game streams. Ser Arryk has probably been consumed by Scarlet Rot by now (or fallen to his death for the 999999th time lol) after losing his compass. Protein has probably eaten all of the other party members by now lmao. I was also super excited for them to play TLoU, but there has seemingly been no news about that since the show finished.

The Last of Us was fun, but there were only a few episodes and only one per week since it was airing at the time you watched it. If you just had one longer spanning series that is fully complete, it'd help with balance.

I'm assuming a bowl then? I'm not a huge bean or guac guy, but I need to try guac again. Almost every customer gets extra rice, especially if it's white rice haha. That would be a little bit of an annoying order if it was a burrito. Without a protein (excluding beans), it quickly becomes soggy if the person making it isn't draining thoroughly, which happens way too often. I miss the free meals there. I would make the largest possible double wrapped burrito with white or brown rice, double chicken (usually), queso, fajita veggies, cheese, light pico, and sometimes the red tomatillo salsa. You aren't supposed to take your employee meal home, but our manager let us. It was because of the massive burrito I made for myself that I became the best wrapper there haha. Can you guys pick at least ONE quality show among all the slop you are watching right now? The well of masterful cinema is dark and full of terrors... If you look at the list of everything you guys are releasing weekly right now, there isn't really anything worth having a discussion about that requires barely any thought process. Most of the shows here boil down to HYPE, PEAK, etc... The content is just all the same and it is a bit stale. I know you guys have other interests too. Maybe make some space for those as well, ok?

I’m not a kpop stan but I’ve gotten into it through kdramas, and I think it’s a genre that’s really misunderstood. A lot of idols are insanely talented and hardworking, especially considering the pressure and mistreatment they face. That said, as much as I like it I don’t think you guys should start reacting to it. Kpop reaction videos bring in views but can get intense with fan pressure. I’ve seen channels get overwhelmed or shut down because of how demanding some viewers can be. You’re already juggling many different kinds of content, so maybe explore it on your own time. Some BTS solo stuff is a great place to start!

As a K-pop fan, I'm against you making K-pop reaction videos because some fans will force you to repeatedly watch videos of their bias, and the comment section will turn into a HELL when you give an opinion like "this song isn't good" "lyrics are tacky" and I've seen some reactors get into K-pop for many years, but most of them quit it within a year for several reasons, and the rest just gave soulless reactions over and over again. Like some others have said getting into kpop as a reaction channel can often be overwhelming due to fan behavior and demands, but kpop itself has so much to offer and we're not all bad! I personally am a fan of Seventeen, Boynextdoor, XG and a few others. Kpop not only has music, performances but also variety shows that can be really hilarious. Core4VT are an example of kpop and kdrama reactors (along with other stuff) that remind me of you guys, they're very open and are here to try new things and they've gotten really deep into some kpop stuff now, just mentioned them to show that its possible you guys might end up really liking kpop :))

As a kpop fan of almost 2 freaking decades (est 2005), all I ask is that you do the reactions because you want to. Your curiosity for the music is genuine, but what I find that happens is new kpop reactors start out enthusiastic of the new discovery, and then the pressure from the kpop fans causes them to react to recommendations they may not even end up liking--and then sensitive fans attack, and then we start seeing fake reactions of enjoyment to appease the fanbases giving them all the new views and subscriptions, and it's painful to watch. It's an easy trap to fall into. I love watching you guys discover korea's pop culture, kdramas, all that--but please, just stay true to yourselves. If you stay honest about your reactions (don't gotta please all the fans), you got nothing to worry about.

If you ever take the time to dive into it, I’m sure you’ll find something you love! K-pop isn’t just bubblegum pop—it spans a wide range of genres and styles that people often overlook. That said, since your channel focuses on movies and TV shows and has built such a diverse community, I wouldn’t recommend diving fully into K-pop reactions, only because not everyone will accept it. You can already see the hate in the comments, and this isn’t even full-on K-pop content yet. Okay I finally watched the movie so I could watch your guy's reaction!!! As a huge Kpop fan I actually love that this was your first intro into the world of Kpop. Haha the movie was great and the music and performances are all 100% true to life for Kpop. The Saja boys are based off of groups like BTS, Stray Kids, TXT and Ateez (and more I'm sure). Twice is an actual group- a really big one (like Black Pink if you've heard of them). It makes me so happy that you all are open to trying anything. I would highly recommend you create maybe a mini series where you watch the top 3 music videos of the biggest groups because I think Kpop is truly a world you will get blown away by (even if you don't want to make it a regular reaction series it's absolutely a must-see in terms of being cultured nowadays if that's your goal!!) Lately, I’ve been getting into BTS and their solo albums, and I’ve really been enjoying it. If you’re curious about K-pop, I’d recommend checking out BTS songs like Mic Drop, Save Me, Butterfly, and my all-time favorite, Spring Day. If you watch the Spring Day MV, I also suggest looking into its meaning—there’s a video by Rotten Mango that connects it to a real-life tragedy in South Korea. I’m still new to K-pop, but I really love the messages behind BTS’s music. I know others probably know way more than me, but I’m enjoying the journey so far! With that being said, I do agree with some comments that a few reactions from different channels feel a little forced. If you ever decide to dive deeper into K-pop, maybe having a separate tier or even a dedicated channel for it could help. They are called "saja boys" bcs in korea they have a thing called "jeoseugsaja" "jeoseung" means hell and "saja" means emissary. They believed that to a person who is meant to go to hell and is near to his death a jeoseungsaja is waiting near him, to guide him to the underworld the moment he dies. Their commonly known appearance is pale, with black lips, very tall, sharp eyes, and always wearing a black hanbok and a gat (traditional hat). So it’s like a grim reaper.

I saw these analysis/ facts from other people and i found it interesting to put them here for you. This movie has many hidden meanings in its lyrics. For example in the song Golden : "Now i'll leave the patterns in the past and shine in gold" but it wasn't her, but the clothes covering her that were shining. For the other members, this song was a song of overcoming past wounds and liberation, but for Rumi, who only tried to hide her patterns it couldn't be that way. In that sense, Golden is ultimately a half baked song. That's why it's never been properly sung in the movie. Every time she sang it, it was interrupted by the power of the evil spirit inside Rumi, that she was trying to ignore, or by the evil spirit digging into her weaknesses. It wasn't until the very end that Rumi fully accepted her past and her shortcomings, forgave and acknowledged herself, and was able to shine not with her clothes but with the patterns engraved on her body itself. At that time, the song she finally sang wasn't Golden, but a different song. A song she couldn't write before but could sing now, "the song we couldn't write, this is what it sounds like."

In terms of range I can say that I had been a metalhead for 2 decades before I realized that even I enjoyed a little bit of K-Pop, and after deep diving, A LOT of bits. I had several layers of prejudice to grow past to realize that. Some of my current all time favorites were found and I've never looked back. After breaking through I also became a fan of loads of stuff I initially wrote off as "not for me". Maybe through the Mere-exposure effect, who knows. No one is going to like everything in K-Pop, but the "genre" is so vast that there is something for absolutely everyone to enjoy. It is as you say. All that's needed is an open mind, and not closing up shop if you're not hitting home runs straight away. Personally I went from a K-Pop hater to flying to a different country just to see a specific K-Pop group live, just in a few months. It's quite the rabbit hole.

Yeah I also think story wise it had more potential than we were shows (even simple stories can be whole and satisfying) which made me get a lot less invested.
