PSA ABOUT ROCK LOCK... He was the number 1 hated character at this point by all fans deadass. People were going overboard with the hate though so now there is an overcorrection back on the other side. If anyone gets mad at y'all for hating him they're being hindsight merchants for sure. (I was indifferent towards the character but I got the criticism)

20:37 No jack, that's not how it works lol. The way classes are assigned in Japan is by having the year at the beginning and just a random number at the end. Kirishima was a 3rd year in high school and he was in class 1, so he is in class 3-1 and Ashido was in class 3-4. In Japan and Korea, you stick to your class for the entire year. The teachers are the ones who swap between breaks/periods. I think the only time they leave the classroom for a subject matter is for science. They usually have science/lab rooms for the subject. Edit: Gym/P.E. too It's also the reason why students are assigned to clean the classroom instead of the teachers.

I never hated Rock lock I watched in dub and was just happy to see a anime character that looked like me 😭😭 he was funny to me. But I don’t really hate characters that I get annoyed everytime they’re on the screen or it ruins my enjoyment. But I also don’t care if the geks hate a character. Nothing wrong with them hating a character, no one says they have to pretend to like him. It was just getting repetitive when they had to mention their same thoughts about him every time he's on screen. Last episode there was a moment where Rock Lock basically just said "Dang, they got us" and they had a full crash out over it, it was a little much.

You're not supposed to hate Rock Lock he's just a bit negative lol and it isn't about hindsight. The issue was just how extreme some of the reactions were to somethings he said that were very tame. I don't agree with how some were trying to use he idea of liking bad guys and Overhaul against them as a defense for Rock Lock though.

I don't have any favorites in this anime but I do have a soft spot for villain, Tomura Shigaraki cause of the Japanese VA. One of this VA's characters is one of my Top 3 fav characters from an anime I love. Shigaraki is quite a good villain as shown so far.

It’s literally just a show😭 if the way a character speaks annoys/angers me then I don’t have to like them… what YOU are missing is that with such a broad span of characters and little time focused on them (bar the main cast) there’s gonna be some characters you dislike for simple reasons😭I don’t even think it’s simple in this case. Rock Lock was constantly nagging and then we got a backstory to change the narrative slightly; doesn’t always have to work. Also understanding a character/someone doesn’t always mean you will automatically like them

People defending Rock Lock are crazy (well more like it's crazy to be mad at people for finding him annoying) like yeah his heart's in the right place but that doesn't mean he isn't annoying, even when he does say something reasonable it's annoying because of how he was acting like 2 seconds before that like he says some stuff like "these kids shouldn't be here!" and then acts as if he just didn't say it, of course that's annoying lol. Anyways that Kirishima episode is what put him in my top 10 characters cause as Cannon said it's such a simple backstory that isn't even really tragic at all but it's just so REAL like I'm sure any of us could imagine feeling that regret and self pity for not being able to act when somebody's in trouble, like take All Might's frustration for not being able to save literally everyone, that's not something we can relate too but Kirishima's struggles are just very human which is why I think it hits pretty hard despite not being too tragic. I remember I wrote a comment at like the beginning of this reaction series saying that MHA has one of the most consistent casts of side characters in anime and I think this season is where that's really starting to show like just this season we've seen Mirio, Kirishima, Amajiki and Fat Gum become some goated characters and 3/4 of those characters were just barely introduced and one had near to no story beforehand, I really think this is like THE side character season. Was also cool seeing some more of Toga and Twice, the villains are starting to be more fleshed out as well.

Aizawa is all about logic and rationality. Being an Underground Hero, it's likely how he survived out there. Makes sense he's reacting and putting stuff together quickly when you view it in that light cos Underground Heroes are likely working solo quite often in back alleys and at night and stuff, whereas your Limelight heroes are dealing with your broad daylight crimes and villians and often have a team of sidekicks that help out. Think it's why I love him so much - he's more grounded than most characters in the MHA world, and it makes him a great teacher/mentor

I dont even think it has anything to do with Rocklock specifically but when it reaches a point where bro inhales in a "annoying way" and then gets and extremely disproportional amount of hostility it brings a negative aura around the video overall. To the point where im like, "oh god this guy is gonna show up next scene and the geks are gonna start the hostilities again"... Obviously we are here to watch your opinions and what yall think about the show but sometimes its a little much, like, come on, rocklock? a tertiary character? thats just what i think about the matter. Not that its super important or anything. Moving on.

Kirishima's backstory and small arc really puts into perspective how normal some of the kids in Class 1A so far. It's simple, not tragic like a lot of character backstories, but at the same time explains a lot of his mentality and his motto in life. We already saw how much he's inspired by Crimson Riot, but he always tries to put his best foot forward even when he's doubting himself and has low self-esteem. He puts himself down a lot, as we've seen from him musing about how ordinary his quirk is and thus his unflashiness as a hero. But in response to that, Katsuki said that he's good BECAUSE of how his quirk works and because of his persistence and tenacity (or smth along those lines in typical, blunt, cryptic Katsuki fashion haha!) The glimpse that we got of his backstory back in S4 Ep 5 was such a great way of leaving us hanging and wondering. Because it gives the impression that developing his ultimate skill "Unbreakable" would be a sort of conclusion to the self-doubt he has towards himself. But no, it's the beginning. Because his ultimate move fails him when he needs it the most, and he nearly gives up the fight because he's once again thrown back to the most unpleasant time in his middle school life. Wanting to move to save someone and being able to is VERY different. Just like Izuku's first reaction to Katsuki being trapped by the sludge villain was to jump in involuntarily without any regard for his own capabilities, Kirishima's inability to do so shows a different side of the hero industry. Because not everyone can be an Izuku. In fact, there are more people who are like Kirishima than there are Izuku, since Izuku is fking insane and not quite normal (no normal kid would do what he did for their middle school bully/soured childhood friend relationship). Being too ordinary is one of Kirishima's biggest insecurities, and it manifested in that incident when he didn't manage to step up to save his schoolmates. Mina's involvement made him wish he could do the same as her (and Izuku), and he loathed himself for not being a "great hero", because "great heroes" all have one thing in common: "they moved before they could think". This sentiment is something that All Might has mentioned since S1 (to Izuku). And it's a great full circle moment to Kirishima's story, and how he COULDN'T do it, but is still able to be a hero or at least enroll in the best hero school in the country. It proves that even ordinary people can be great heroes. Because even though he didn't move involuntarily to save Fat Gum, the fact that he CHOSE to do so KNOWING he would get even more hurt is just as, if not more, admirable than someone who moves without thinking. Because Izuku doesn't think about the consequences of him jumping in very often. He doesn't care if he gets hurt, beaten up, ruined beyond comparison (like he did with his arms so far). On the other hand, Kirishima, who KNOWS the consequences, the excruciating pain, is rightfully afraid. He's fully sane. He doesn't want to get hurt. But he still does it, BEACAUSE he wants to stand by his principle of protecting people behind him as an unbreakable shield. He values his philosophy as a hero more than he does his self-preservation. His desire to be a hero trumps his instinctual response. He chooses to sacrifice himself just so that no one else will get hurt (aka Fat Gum), even if he has to bleed in the process. And that takes courage. It takes bravery, inner strength, and tenacity - all of which he possesses. But it took him remembering the words of his idol, the memories of his past to force himself to do something his own body recognises as life-threatening. And in some ways, that's even more impressive than the stories of heroes moving before they can think. His act of sacrifice was chivalrous, persistent, noble and very much Kirishima, and I just love how his character is a parallel for the specific hero quality that Izuku is praised for by All Might. He may not be considered a "great hero" from instinct alone, but he is just as amazing as one.

I like Kirishima. I was surprised that his hair wasn't really red. The red suits him. I wouldn't mind more of a Bakugo backstory where we see it from his POV more. We did actually get a bit of a Mineta backstory. I think he was just born a perv but it showed that he just wants to be praised by the ladies. I wouldn't mind Tsu backstory. I also am curious about Tokoyami and his story. I don't like Rock Lock much. I get his point about it being unsafe for kids, but they have their provisional license and have to to get experience at some point. His power is kinda cool though, but it definitely seems limited. I hope they are able to rescue the girl.

I can't wait for the next three episodes (hoping they'll be uploaded together pwetty please). Everyone's talking about the Rock Lock drama lol but i personally like how the league of villans have grown closer together. Shigaraki has learnt to trust his people and they trust him as a leader to achieve what they want. They may be annoying but they're shaping up to be a good group (laughs in hindsight merchanting 👀) can't wait for you guys to see the later seasons this show is soo good!!

my 2 cents to the rock lock stuff is that i'd say most people don't even like him, they just understand what he's saying. when i first watched this he didn't bother me like he does others because it was easy to hear what he means. he doesn't sugar coat anything and in this situation he has no reason to. you feel the shift this season that it's getting darker and more serious so it only makes sense to have a character voice that (even if they play a minor part or not likable). that doesn't mean you have to like him!! and i would also bet most people aren't trying to control your reactions, just them giving honest feedback how they felt watching your reactions! :)

Rock Lock is cautious because he has a child and being a father he is worried for the kids. And also being a father he is cautious not to die and leave his child as an orphan. He is the first pro hero we have seen that is a father(outside Endeavor but he is another case entirely). Yeah, he can get on your nerves, but it is understandable why he is like that. Overhaul is a GOAT though. He is an amazing villain and people who bring morals when judging villains are insane.

That Kirishima fight in the mange is so brutal. His literal skin gets peeled from his arms and body from Rappa's punches and he bleeds so much. One of the weaknesses of the anime adaptation for me is the toning down of the gore, because the manga can get really gory. P.S. You have to release the next 3 episodes at the same time, it is like the All Might vs All for One climax of the arc.

He is literally the same. Kenjiro Tsuda has an amazing voice, but when it actually comes to showing emotion and all that he is not that great. He gets to show more range as Overhaul than as Nanami, but his best role is as Nowak in Orb.

Those kids should not be there though. He is right. There is a reason that before All Might's retirement, they had to wait 2 more years, which is when they turn 18, to get their licenses and participate in these kind of missions. He is a father himself and as a responsible adult, he is right for not wanting them there, in harms way. Yes, Class A are goated and better than 90% of the pros, but that does not change the fact that he is absolutely right.

He is not written to be hated on at all. Every single word he says is the most sensible thing an adult would say. These are 15-16 year olds, who according to the law should not even have licenses until they turn 18, that are going in to fight the literal Yakuza. He does not know how strong they are, he does not even know who they are, he just sees how they are basically sending children to war. He is also a father himself, so that sentiment is way stronger.

I do, he is not even close to being a favorite character but he is an interesting adition to the story. Like Kirishima nearly died, he is 15 years old, according to the law(before All Might retired and everyone went into panic mode) Kirisha and the other kids shouldn't even be allowed there. They are sending children to war and everyone just glances past it, but he actually adresses how absolutely insane that is.

Absolutely nothing wrong with hating him. I see absolutely nothing wrong when people even hate my favorite characters, that is ok. But sometimes people get tired of seeing crashouts anytime a character appears on screen. To be fair, it never bothered me, but I see why other people would.
