cozo

Betsy

Wow thanks guys! Curious to see what you all think of the ending 😭

Tivy

Well here I am again having to relive this episode 😃. It’s worth it though because I’m curious to hear your opinions

Such a journey from the first episode of Squid Games from Gi-hun gambling on horse races to his last episode proclaiming humans are not horses. It's such a somber yet resonating message to go out on from the person who beat both Oh Il-nam and the Front Man at their own games. While not as great an ending IMO, I liked this aspect.

WhynefineT

I love the ending, Perfect conclusion. He proved the Frontman's cynical philosophy of humans being inherently selfish wrong and showed that good in humanity can still exist even in the more dire of circumstances like the hellhole of Squid Game. But that's not all, Gihun's last words, "We are not horses, we are humans. Humans are..." It wasn't finished and that's intentional. Horses are instinctive creatures that are used in wars and gambles, they run because they must. Squid Game is a game of chance and death. But are we purely instinctive creatures? No, but then what are we? It's to show that even though he showed good can still exist, we must not forget all the atrocities that mankind has committed which was shown throughout all of the series. Humans aren't collectively defined as good or bad, we just are. It can also be seen as a question left to be answered. What are humans? Some people will say "humanity still exists in some people", but what does that humanity even refer to? The people who created and run the games were human, the people who participated and killed were human. We use this term in light of compassion and kindness, but are all the atrocities not part of human nature too? It almost seemed like not even Gihun himself had an answer. He has seen all of it on that island. The greed, the cowardice, the lies, the sadism, but also, the kind, the compassionate, and the selfless. Humans can take on any form, and 'humanity' is ultimately an arbitrary term. This is not even all there is to it btw I literally just typed this on a whim and could definitely go deeper.

McKay Carter

Gi-Huns death was rough but honestly a solid ending, show was such a fun ride and never stopped entertaining us!

TheSauceGuy

Myung-gi's actor was amazing in this episode, especially when he was threatening to drop the baby and started sobbing.

TheSauceGuy

Am I crazy for thinking MG Coin expected Gi-hun to cross? He looked surprised, but he couldn't have thought Gi-hun would stay over there. I thought he just wanted to get the baby for leverage and so that he could sacrifice Gi-hun more easily. He doesn't seem to want to kill the baby to me, even when he threatens Gi-hun by holding it over the edge; it seems more like a last resort thing to me. It's understandable to say that a baby being murdered is more tragic than an adult being murdered. However, if you feel you have to kill the baby to survive, then it's an entirely different moral dilemma. If the baby wasn't his son, I'd be able to empathize with him more. His character kind of flip flops a lot throughout the past two seasons, but that's at least understandable to a degree.

Betsy

It felt strange seeing Gihun on the ground dead... I never thought it would come to that until this final game. It was messed up. Man I really wanted him to survive and reunite with his daughter in America. However, I think him sacrificing himself to end the game gave a much greater impact. That line, "We are not horses, we are are humans." It was so powerful. It's like a big slap to the frontman's face like we're not your pawns anymore. I love it.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

The games have existed well before Gihun and will continue to exist due to the inequality and greed that breeds in society. Most people live in a system that promotes selfishness, to be successful in a competitive environment means someone wins and someone loses and the world doesnt have an unlimited amount of resources to satisfy everyone's hopes and dreams and our limited time on Earth doesnt make it easy to be selfless. As the wealth gap increases, the wealthy will find more ways to entertain themselves as real trafficking, prostitution and death games do happen. Humans have proven to be slaves to biological instincts for thousands of years it takes an illogical amount of will power to end the cycle of procreation by choice. The default state of reality is cold, cruel and chaotic, people are born hungry, naked, vulnerable, we seek to find order, comfort to cope with reality, with mortality, with being more than just the continuation of life that we never signed up for.

Betsy

This show was a journey and such a wild ride from start to finish. I enjoyed it. Seeing all those game locations and the dead player's bodies on the floor made me feel sad. It was haunting. I still wish Jun-ho could have stopped his brother, though. I feel like all his effort, dedication, sleepless nights, and endless planning to find the island and stop the games for good kind of went in vain. But I'm glad at least the Dad got to be reunited with his daughter and that she's healthy and all better. It was such a relief. Noeul risked and sacrificed so much for them to live in peace. I really liked her storyline and I felt happy that her daughter was still alive in the end. All the pain, regret, and hurt she was feeling can finally start to heal some now.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

He ditched his family to go back into the squid games to save lives because of survivors guilt or main character syndrome (well he is..) but died with all of them anyway, the games will continue as long as people are desperate enough for it and in a system that creates winners and losers, worse message than AoT.

Tivy

I could go into a whole breakdown of what worked and what didn’t with this finale, but I’ll leave that to the other thoughtful people in the comments lol. That said, the internet is so divided right now. Some people are missing the entire point of the show’s message and calling the ending trash, while others are praising it like it was flawless and ignoring the valid criticisms. Personally, I think it landed in that grey area: not perfect, but still thematically consistent. Squid Game was never about the good guys winning, it’s a reflection of society’s cruelty, power, and greed. Gi-hun represented the rare selfless person in a broken system, and I think the ending stuck to that message even if parts of the execution could’ve been better. What a journey!

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Dont understand why the father was looking at the baby after getting it across to the platform, just make sure Gihun doesnt get across. Theres no guarantee they wouldve let the baby go without any brainwashing or raising the baby inside the organization considering how evil it must have been to find out this all exists in that moment, it isnt illogical to think these sadistic evil people would just kill everyone anyway its not like the squid games have google reviews from previous winners saying its legit (and those reviews could be faked anyway). It would make sense to just leave everything behind, the mother of the baby, the baby, the squid games, everything and start fresh (with survivors guilt). Hope the baby doesnt somehow become apart of the future games to discover what happened to its parents because they had a rough upbringing as a dumb rich kid.

Tivy

You guys touched on this in your final discussion, and personally my biggest issue with the ending was that a lot of the choices felt driven by the need to expand the franchise (like the upcoming U.S. version) rather than fully honoring Gi-hun’s arc. They still did a decent job, but I can’t help but feel it could’ve been stronger and more focused if the goal wasn’t to keep the profit going. Some things just needed more clarity and intention, regardless of the final message.

Konner Cragun

I think they ruined 333 character. Killing 120 imo was a good thing for his plot but they needed him to give him a redemption. Jun hee should’ve let 333 help her in the jump rope and then he sacrifices himself in the final game for Jun hee. The whole season 2 he was all about redemption even going into the first 3 episodes up until Jun hee died he was trying redeem himself. I know their point was to show how greedy people can be by showing a dad willing to kill his own child. It made no sense to me if Gi hun dies, 333 gets the baby, baby’s money, and his money.

Anya

"Player 456, eliminated" 💔😭 In the end, Gi-hun remained faithful to his core values. His sacrifice was a powerful display of his refusal to be complicit in the game's cruelty & the rejection of their idealogy on human life & worth. Unbeknownst to him, his selfless act also leaves an impact. No-eul regains hope & Front Man gains a new perspective. Gi-hun's shift from pure altruism to pragmatism when faced w/morally challenging situations from s1-3 was quite a journey! It's so important to surround yourself with good people so you don't lose yourself. S/o to Ali, Sae-byeok, Jung-bae, Geum-ja, Hyun-ju, & Jun-hee. They played an integral part in keeping Gi-hun grounded. Good job Gi-hun, you proved Front Man & Oh Il-nam wrong! Yes, the vicious cycle of human greed & morality will continue so long as capitalism & human nature exists. However, Gi-hun proved to himself & them that humanity is still worth saving. That ending was heartbreaking, but it was also a F you to the corrupt system, Front Man, Oh Il-nam, & the VIPs! I hate the ending, but I understand the deeper message they were trying to convey. Another great series completed w/Studio Gek! Ty & on to the next!

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Theres a reason why we are not born into a Utopia. The corrupt system exists because thats all people can do, say F you, being born into it is a gamble you dont end up desperate enough to play these games. The squid games did offer a more fair and democratic process in really putting your life on the line compared to suffering in the "outside world". People had the choice to quit after every game and earn the prize money and it was a game for rich people to be entertained so it was a win for both parties, it cut through all the laws and order and politics and put them in a cage of pure life and death. There is no deeper message, Hope is a scam, these games, these corporations WANT people to keep hoping, to keep struggling for the dream, to keep pumping out humans to run the machine, to be entertained from the oppressors. Excited to see how serious or corny the future adaptations will be.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

After he safely brings the baby to the platform he should be using the pole to make sure Gi-hun doesnt cross instead of staring at the baby for so long. As Cannon mentioned, he lost everything in the process, the mother of their baby, his humanity, dont want to sound too cruel but he spent time and love with HER not the baby, they can always make new babies but not another Jun-hee. I bet he would sacrifice himself if it ensured her survival but the baby was thrust into this messed up plot.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

"We are not horses, we are are humans" Gi-Hun just proved thats what humans do, theres a reason why being a good person or willing to sacrifice yourself for others is such an important and praiseworthy quality...because thats not the default common human setting, look throughout history, its "Human nature" to be this destructive and selfish and greedy, we see that message all the time in Anime, this is literally the most "peaceful" time in human history, crazy. Humans ARE horses, humans are cogs in a machine that we contribute to everyday that needs more workers, that wants to sustain its growth, to expand, to conquer, to use up every last drop of resources the Earth has to offer and kill each other in the progress. We are the slaves to the machine we built and this machine wants us to make babies, fight for babies, die for babies, repeat, life is a ponzi scheme.

ainsley

i’m sat.

floo

The way the director showed all kinds of human nature was great

Merry

I liked the character of the Frontman, and the actor portrayed him really well. In Season 1, after the first game, there was a voting session where everyone left, but no one got the prize money. However, after Il-Nam’s death, when the Frontman became the in-charge, he changed the rules so that there would be voting and people could take the prize money and go home. Basically, he wanted to show people’s greed. Secondly, he also told Gi-hun, “What difference would my death make? Someone else would take my place.” The Frontman saw a reflection of himself in Gi-hun and wanted to get out of his own guilt for what he had done with that knife, as if testing whether Gi-hun would do the same. That’s why he asked him at the end, “Do you still have faith in people?”Anyway, Gi-hun chose his own perspective, which was the right one. He entrusted the baby to his brother. And went to Gi hun's daughter. So, as an in-charge, the Frontman did what he could.

Anya

Dude, I said the cycle will continue so long as capitalism & human nature exists. I agree that the corrupt system is ongoing. Ofc he's not going to bring the whole system down, that's unrealistic. If you don't believe in hope & didn't get anything from this show then that's your opinion. Let me have mine tfk I don't even want SG America.

Anya

Such an emotional rollercoaster! I really did like Jun-ho & No-eul's stories. I wish they fleshed it out better though.

Merry

The best meme about the detective is: This guy turned into Dora the Explorer, spent 3 years finding the island just to ask his big brother ‘Why?’—only to get ignored as a reply, and then he just left. And Mr. Choi found the island in just 2 days. I love Mr. Choi.👍

DontFailArtSchoolEren

It made sense that he didnt trust Gi-hun, he claimed to won the past game and wants to beat it again and has survived all the way to the end, why would i trust anything he says because maybe thats how he won the previous game. Maybe its rigged and Gi-hun is actually working for them and this entire thing was about mentally and emotionally torturing a father, mother and baby for sick entertainment, who knows at this point in his head what hes thinking. I think its refreshing some people just stay a scumbag and die a scumbag its suppose to be emotionally bitter. Gi-Hun couldnt break the rules despite all that conviction he had in the beginning, he bowed to the the rules of the system and knew they both had to die for the baby to possibly survive.

Anya

I was delusional in thinking he'd make it! 😭 I agree, his sacrifice further emphasized his beliefs. Big slap & an F you!

Frosty

honestly a great ending especially in comparison to how it felt it was going to go. glad this is the show that changed the landscape for korean tv/film for most of the west, really solid

Konner Cragun

I understand you. I just think they ruined 333’s character. Hate him or not he truly loved Jun hee. He was always talking about getting out with her even mentioned the baby, he did kill more people then he should have in the hidenseek game, he did that for more money for them to take home. Him killing 120 was so good for his plot, but then they made him the villain. I wanted him to sacrifice himself for Jun hee, gi hun and the baby in the final round of the final game. Jun hee finally sees he did love her and gi hun goes to his daughter

Anya

I agree Darth McKay!

Anya

😭😭

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Thats the cruel joke, SG adaptations will keep happening because of corporate greed and who knows maybe these sick games already happen in the shadows, people do crazy things when they are bored of everything. I just think its endearing to make a plot about trying to end the cycle when the creators live within the cycle and couldnt figure out a solution in the show thats why the cycle continues to exist in real life.

Anya

💀😭😭

Anya

They most definitely exist

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Yea we pretty much do all this but with extra steps scaled in reality. Its like a blackmirror spin off.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Frontman just trying to wash himself of his sins with these deeds, hes still a pawn in this organization, maybe he will be in the other adaptations slowly trying to demolish the squid game system, i dont think his character journey is over.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Love can make people do extremely questionable things, its built into us but thats why squid games was so thrilling to watch and see what happens next and i was prepared to not have characters go the way i wanted for them. Its just a messed up story and future ones coming.

Anya

Front Man is the most compelling character & probably my favorite. Despite his duplicitous nature, he had genuine moments w/ Gi-hun & Jun-ho. His character/story shares many similarities to Darth Vader. They started off as a "hero" (Jedi/highly decorated officer) that made terrible decisions to save their pregnant wife & failed. Their desires were exploited by a mentor & were easily influenced. Both succumbed to the dark side & hide behind their masks. We also get a "join me" extended hand moment & we see small glimpses of their humanity throughout. It's that complex & conflicted aspect of their humanity that makes them the most interesting to me. I have faith Front Man can be redeemed, his journey isn't over yet.

Merry

Yes, that’s absolutely possible. And honestly, not everyone tries to wash away their sins; he was staying within the system to observe how far people would go. Gi-hun’s ideology forced him to think deeply. Anyway, Lee Byung-hun portrayed his character really well. I also find Season 2 interesting because he participated himself and wanted to understand Gi-hun closely. Obviously, he had to betray him in the end.

Merry

For me, my favorite season was Season 1 because maybe everything was new, and we didn’t know what would happen next. My favorite game was Tug of War, and when Sang-woo said, “Take three steps forward,” and the episode ended—that was the perfect cliffhanger for me. In Season 2, I liked the Mingle game. As for Season 3, I felt the Knives game was unfair because the blue team faced injustice: different keys, they couldn’t lock the doors, and on top of that, they needed three keys to exit—wow, that was unfair

Anya

S1>S2>S3 Same, I liked those games.

eva

This ending was disappointing lowkey it literally offered nothing. The show shouldnt have gone past season 1 in my opinion. season 1 was peak. Season 2 was the same thing all over again it had potential but didnt live up to it for me. Like the police guy arc had potential but at the end of the day it offered nothing to the plot. All of that hype just for him to shout why did you do it and that's it? Like what...the most interesting part of seasons 2,3 was the arc with the guard girl and the player with the daughter. I will say though, it's always really interesting seeing the games.

Anya

I agree. Like Carter said, this type of show was meant to be a one off story. S2 was definitely entertaining, but wasn't necessary. Enjoyed the Front Man & Gi-hun dynamic though.

Steve

I think you had a fair discussion at the end off the episode. You can't sleep on the numbers that the show pulls, one of the most watched shows of all time. It would be easy to prattle on about all the downsides with the show or with this season, in particular. But overall, it was decent- good, honestly (the show, not this season). I think GI-Hun was on a mission to meet his eventual demise and he never really stepped back off that. I'm not a huge fan of nihilistic or pessimistic shows, I have a pretty low threshold, but I pretty much knew what I was signing up for on this one. I think the show speaks to the way that South Koreans view the world, capitalism, and institutions with authority.

GreetswithJudgement

Dang I know he lowkey still did something but they did Dora the explorer hella dirty. I mean the detective. He could have found the one piece before he found the island.

GreetswithJudgement

I knew he’d get roasted on the internet during this season! Poor guy!

GreetswithJudgement

Imagine Cannon being great at the Squid Games but sucking at gaming pc lol

Betsy

Same here and yes it was a rollercoaster. There was so much more potential. They could have given us more backstory and lore. Both of their stories were fascinating to me and it made me want to know more...

Betsy

As others have mentioned on here, I liked season 1 the most. I enjoyed the compelling characters, how complex and challenging the games were and I was riding the hype. Each character had strong motivations and it made you really feel their pain, desperation, and inner struggles. They all were crippled with mounting debt and they felt hopeless and scared with no way out. Some of them just wanted to support their loved ones and protect them. While others, they were swayed and corrupted with greed that they were willing to do anything for it even going as far as killing others if it meant saving their own skin and accquiring more money. Having said that, there were a few who kept their morals and good values as much as they could by looking out for the other players, it was endearing. I loved how kind and caring Ali and the North Korean girl looking out for her younger brother, Sae-byok was and of course Gihun and how his character grew emotionally in the game having compassion for the other players. Season 1's games were creative. They felt fresh and new. Every moment was filled with intensity and supense. It kept me on edge the whole time. This show is like a social experiment testing the true nature of humans and how far they would go when they're desperate, pushed to their limits, and when a great deal of money is involved and the stakes are incredibly high. I liked the red light green light game, the walking on glass game in season 1 and the mingle game in season 2. Season 2 was interesting with some new quirky characters. I liked Hyunju, Daeho, and the mother as well as the one girl that died during the Mingle game. It didn't feel quite as impactful as the first season for me though. However, I did appreciate the more light hearted moments and humor sprinkled in so, it wasn't as bleak and depressing. You could feel the tension with all the 3 seasons though. I thought the set design of Starry Night was cool but the game was very dark and gave me anxiety. And it was even more messed up given the fact that it was supposed to look like a child's night light. I'll never look at my favorite painting the same way. Sorry guys I rambled more than intended. But hope I made sense on here.

Betsy

I was hopeful too. I felt bad for his daughter. I wanted them to mend their strained relationship and become close in each other's life 😭

Alya Min 알야 민 💫

It's hard to say who is a better friend to Sieun. Both Suho and Baku fill different spaces in Sieun’s life. They're the kind of friends that most of us can only dream of.

ari

jun ho is lucky hes fine asfk thats the only thing saving him from the insane amount of hate hes getting since he didnt find the island in time 😭😭😭

alex anderson

I could write an essay about all the things I liked about these past two seasons, my favorite being the dynamic of gi-hun and frontman, as well as what I think frontman’s character represents as a whole, but I don’t wanna try to convince anybody that their opinion is wrong, as the more I watched this season, the more I realized that this wasn’t going to be liked by everybody, and that’s fine with me. However, I think there are at least 2 reasons why the internet in general doesn’t seem to like this season and where this batch of episodes led to. The first one is that I think this show should be watched and viewed in a different way than season 1. Season 2 and 3 had very heavy undertones about humanity, greed, capitalism, etc. Season 1 if I can remember correctly, at least didn’t thrust these themes into the limelight, and felt like a lot more surface level entertainment, with the games being something that mainstream media viewers have never really seen before. I think Season 2 and 3 alienated a lot of viewers who were expecting that kind of experience again, but were met with a philosophical and ideological battle between 2 figure head characters. So as someone who likes to watch something like this, it sucks to see that it wasn’t viewed the same by a lot of the audience, but again, this show isn’t for everyone. I will say, I can see the argument that maybe squid games wasn’t the best outlet for these kinds of messages and themes, but do I know why that might be? No, but someone can try to convince me. The second reason is pretty obvious, but this season was very sad lol. Totally understandable when people don’t want to watch letdown after letdown, when all they want is for something good to happen. Overall, I think the gap between season 1 vs season 2 and 3 is a lot smaller for me compared to other people. I don’t think season 1 was ever going to be the end of the serious; otherwise, why didn’t he get on the plane? I liked the direction they went with season 2 and 3, as the themes they were presenting maybe it enjoyable experience to think about as well as watch. I also think these two seasons are better on a second watch, and allows you to pay more attention to things you didn’t notice at first, which is what these reactions did for me. Do I think that season 2 and 3 themes could’ve been executed a bit better for more people to enjoy? Probably, but I think this show in general will be remembered well enough that in the end it won’t really matter.

Vlad Blue

They had a real life hunter exam in DC in America. I think they are doing another one. Also I liked this season but I didn’t like the VIPs. Mostly because of the dialogue. Most if not all of it seemed like ADR, so that would take me out of it when they would talk.

ari

i can tell u rn if they make an american squid games NOBODY is watching ts 😭 genuinely what are they thinking

Ayoodude

You’ll watch it

Ayoodude

It’s crazy some people don’t underhand that they aren’t making an American VERSION of this show ..the show is continuing in a new setting, America. Did you even watch the show..? The shows a money maker, no shit they want to broaden its reach.

ari

hi projection

S Moonchild⁷

At first I hated the ending because it was sad. But rewatching, it is fine. Gihun was long gone mentally, even if he had 222 baby he won't be committed to raising her, instead find another way for revenge or would kill himself. He couldn't even be involved in his daughter's life. He had enough money to move to the US and just be with his daughter, but he was taken by revenge and now he even lost more. At least he died doing something good as a father. I think MG coin would have killed Gihun if he knew he had a chance, but idk I think he was going crazy. Maybe he would have never thrown the baby. They say US version will be done by David Fincher, so I got my hopes up again

Mr. John Kagurabachi

nah MG coin’s acting was too good. You can see so much conflict in his face. You can see how much he hates himself. You can see the moment he decides he’s willing to kill his baby and how much it destroys him.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Yes. Yim Si-wan's acting was so good. If they made MG Coin's character more likeable I think I might've teared up a bit in that scene where he was holding the baby over the cliff.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

At first I thought the same as you until I found out that: 90 percent of people on Netflix watched Squid Game in English dubbed LMAOO. I’m afraid they have an audience

allen

Thank you for reacting to this series!! I always look forward to seeing y’all’s reaction! Now we wait for the demon slayer movie 😣😣😣😣😣😣😣

Cannon Andrus

I love seeing this comment on squid games 😂

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! What a finale, can't believe Gi-hun is dead. He never got to see his daughter again. Cannon not knowing Cate Blanchett is crazy.

Mitch

Fake lotr fan smh

ari

oh my god stop 😭 are you serious

Mr. John Kagurabachi

I’m s2 > s1 > s3. I think the new voting system introduced a really interesting social dynamic to the show. The impostor frontman as well as rock paper scissors minus 1 scene was peak. IMO s3’s story felt like slop but the acting of certain scenes blew me away.

Tivy

I know The Glory is probably next with how much it’s been requested, but I lowkey feel bad for you guys 😭 You deserve a break. I promise not all kdramas are this dark lmao

Tivy

I fully agree with you on this

Jenny D

I honestly didn't like season 3. I feel like season 2 was the best. I expected deaths, but I thought at the end it would mean something. I would also give it a 7 for the series as a whole Honestly, I don't get why they'd be playing Korean games in the US version. I would think they would be doing American Games. At least give them a fighting chance. I thought Gi-hun would survive. Its so sad he never got to see his daughter again.

Jack

When he had the baby off the edge it was such good acting, the conflict was at its peak right there

Anya

Alya! 🤣🤣 Ty for the laugh! Needed this to break the depressing atmosphere!! 😂😂

Jack

I mean they are and they aren’t, it will probably appeal to a broader audience while retaining its roots. Like they were still playing djaki despite that guy probably never having played the game before. I just wonder what games will be played if a variety of peoples, languages and cultures are involved. I mean season 1 had Ali who had never played those games, but it would be crazy if nobody knew what they were doing

Jack

I mean it probably won’t be solely “American” it’s just the new setting. It will probably be full of lots of different people and languages

Anya

Yes. I know she has his tracksuit, but she's not gonna know what it represents. I'm still mad at him for turning around at the airport. 😭

Anya

I mean I feel like they accomplished what they wanted. It's just that sometimes it felt out of place. Jun-ho's storyline needed more lmao His search felt too long. Maybe they should've used some of his time w/flashbacks of him & In-ho. Idk lol

ari

ohhh thats honestly a good point as long as its not like stereotypical americans with horrible dialogue 😭

DietCocaine

season 1 was the best easily. games in season 2 were the best

Daniella

I'll try not to be so negative since i'm part of the people who despised the ending, but what you guys said in the end discussion is so true. This definitely did not need a season 2/3 and even as they made it i don't see the point in regurgitating the exact same thing that happened in season 1 with getting great characters but killing them off including Gi-hun. In the grandscope of things it's realistic and i like that part but we got that already in season 1 with Sae-Byeok and even Ali...don't even get me started on the detective Hwang's storyline bro did absoulutely nothing except serve face and become a billionaire single dad with a random baby he has no emotional ties to. I really hope they don't do a US version, it would be so ironic for an anti-capitalist show to get more spin-offs just bc Netflix got greedy for more money.

Sari-chan

I don't know if I would have burnt the evidence... It could have given some closure for the players' families too.

Sari-chan

I felt bad for the man though... You see he has been conned/conning therefore could not trust the man who ultimately sacrificed himself for the baby. The saddest thing in life is not being able to trust and take chances.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Yeah I know. I don't even hate MG Coin. I think it's the same for me as with Sang-woo. They're just trying to win the games as if we all wouldn't be doing these same evil things if our life is on the line.

Betsy

Yeah true they did what they could. It just felt like something was missing part of the time. Aww yes I would have enjoyed flashbacks of him and In-ho lol

Betsy

Me too. And yeah she will have no clue how much ge sacrificed for all that. I felt so sad when he walked away from the airport basically turning his back on his daughter 😣

Betsy

I was thinking the same thing :-(

Navri

I was wondering if you guys will watch Takopi's original sin. it would be interesting to see your reaction to it

Venus

333 was the best player. People claimed he didn’t care about 222 but he would have won the games if he actually abandoned all feelings for her and the child. He had the best strategy. He teamed up at the exact right places, went alone in the right places, spoke up and remained quiet when needed, was violent when needed. He was my favorite part of this show, wish he had more screen time in season 2 because I wanted to see how he how he negotiated his team ups

floo

Finally someone thinks same as me

Imane

Please react to the glory next

Billie

I agree on your later point. a us remake is NOT needed. the whole anti capitalist memo would be really ironic then lol because of netflix

vicc

I’m so disappointed with Hwang’s whole arc. Like, he went through all that just to get to the island and for what? In the end, it didn’t even matter. The vips walked away untouched, and the games are still going like nothing happened…

Since you mentioned MC Coin's acting, I highly recommend Strangers From Hell! It's a one season show and a thriller, so it's a quick watch. It's quite dark but it's one of my favourite shows alongside AOT and Peaky Blinders

Anya

I feel like it's been so long since we met the goofy & immature Gi-hun. I miss him & his goofy s1 smile. What a journey indeed!

Nashi

Dude went BACK into the games to STOP the games amd ended up KILLING HIMSELF over SOMEONE ELSE'S BABY all because he couldn't go along with the rat's plan so both of em could've survived OR not killed one of the dudes and told MG coin NOT to kill the other dude too. So many incredibly stupid decisions led to his inevitable death over NOTHING because there's NO WAY to guarantee that baby is having a life after you're gone. Gi Hun went out like a damn idiot, at least the baby's mom got a proper death.

Anya

I didn't think of that, good point.

Nashi

Definitely terrible end to his arc, so many cutaways to his arc and it was for nothing, just damn filler

Nashi

Only complete idiots buy into anti-capitalism media lol

Thelma Anih

Mercy for none on Netflix is a must watch especially if you like Weak hero

Nashi

People need to understand that a morally bad ending for a character IS NOT necessarily bad writing for the character. Bad endings exist, they're real, it's just as powerful as redemption. Cmon

Nashi

There's so so so many convenient writing decisions dude

DontFailArtSchoolEren

It was pretty evil to want to kill the baby's father, it was junhee and MG coin's own flesh and blood and Gi-hun was prepared to kill him, its the father's baby he has every right to do what he wants with HIS baby, this is why all opinions and beliefs boil down to who can actually fight and protect those ideas when words fail. None of them would know what would happen to the baby or its future anyways if they died, they knew these people are sick and wanted to watch them suffer so who knows what they could've done with the baby without hindsight.

Enma

Apparently the vips were dubbed over in english, which is why the voice acting sounds like ai. So I'm hoping that if there is a squid game america the vips have the worst korean dub known to man as payback.

Frosty

not filler in any stretch of the word. i can understand if youre unsatisfied cause he didnt get the payoff at the end, but his actions definitely had consequence in this show. they even had to blow up the entire island they had been doing the games on for x amount of years

TheSauceGuy

When did bro become a sith?

TheSauceGuy

I think a Russian setting would be more enjoyable than a US one. Maybe the VIPs just made me not want to listen to my own language anymore lol.

Enma

Idk if Nashi is being sarcastic or not, but i think its kinda funny for them to have a Luffy pfp and to comment that. Since One Piece is literally about anti-capitalism and anti-imperialism.

TheSauceGuy

Seasons 1 and 2 each excel in different areas, to the point where I'd consider them comparable, at least in terms of entertainment value for me. Season 3 fails to compare to the first two seasons, especially when it comes to plot progression, but the acting of certain characters distracts me from this at times (MG Coin was fantastic).

Anya

Any other country would be preferable lmao

Anya

So good!

Anya

It's a joke lol I just felt like he was sowing discord in WHC 😂

CHIEF

anti-capitalist lol

chaosmerchant

Rip my ears wearing headphones at the beginning 😭

Riya

I read somewhere that Detective Hwang was not part of the manwha (comic) when I first watched this show, so like a lot of ppl were saying, he definitely had useless arc lol. His plot was basically filler. I felt very different about this ending, especially at the end it was kinda cheesy having an American be the recruiter. Season 1 ending had a huge impact on me and def made me tear up during certain moments

Himang

Can you guys do sinners movie reaction. Best movie of the year so far🔥

Shantha

Did they mention on what drama will they watch next.

Jenny Lee

You should watch Kingdom on Netflix next. It’s a Korean zombie series set in historical times. It’s an underrated masterpiece!

Nikita

Completely agree Carter. That's the message I got and I think it was delivered well.

Nikita

Hahahah! Same. Russia would be so cool

Nikita

YESSSS!

Nikita

He did NOT love Jun-hee. He left her pregnant and in debt. Told her to abort the baby and ghosted her. That is not love. He only cared about her as a person he knows that he wants to live and get out of the place. All choices he made except the one time he voted X were based on his greed. He prioritized his money over her and the baby each time.

TY

My feelings.... S1 was great. S2 was bearable. S3 was so hard to watch, I'm sorry. Skipped through each episode just to grasp the plot and know how it ends. It would have been epic if they stopped at S1.

Varonika Singer

I wouldn't say he went out like an idiot. But hey if you think that, and if you don't like him , then the amazing actor did a good job! Lmao.

Imani Brooks

So basically you didn't actually watch the last season.

TY

*Skim through the episodes ✌️ Hmm.. I've fully watched episodes 1-3 as they've been posted and binged ep. 4-6 in ~3 hours. I usually watch other shows longer than the running time due to pauses and rewinds - rereading subs and rewatching the acting/scenes. Did feel emotional with some scenes, but I was honestly uninterested as the story progressed. Just really wanted to know how it ended and a little bit of detail about how it got there. But yeah, would have been ok to skip it entirely ( but I wouldn't have known)

khalxeesi

Media isn’t always made to show the perfect optimized way to complete a task…imo Gihuns arc was beautifully done to show his mentality shift from revenge to resignation. How capitalism and greed wear you down completely. MG coin continuously would put himself first once all was said and done, even Junhee tried to trust him one last time and he betrayed her (yes he did not know it was Hyunjoo, but his greed got him to the point where he didn’t care). There was no way Gihun could have trusted him. His final act of protecting innocence after all his faith was beaten out of him was is final moral stand.

Kayanolive

What a shitshow of a season. MG Coin is one of the worst characters ever lmao

Kayanolive

He is almost the worst part of this show

Yo Dani

Well you gotta remember that he was done with life right after we won the first game and found his mom dead. He looked depressed the whole start of s2. Every time there was a gun pointed at him, he wouldnt hesitate to put his forehead on it lol. On top of that, he witnessed his long friend dying right in front of his eyes (he already lost his childhood friend in the same game in s1), all because of his rebellion. So he really had nothing to live for, he only did it to take the game down. Once he realized he couldnt do it, he just gave up, but still refused to do it their way. Still refused to play their game and died in his own way. Many people didnt like the ending because many ppl are stuck in that cliché happy ending style. Just like people didnt like the ending of AoT. Did Eren achieve anything? No.. the wars still continued after his death. I personally like movies that dont always end happily.

Yo Dani

you sound like one of those that hated the AoT ending.

Yo Dani

and why is it a shitshow? Because it didnt end with the main char winning again? It didnt end in a boring way where they got the old man to the old platform, push him off and all 3 win the game? Or because they didnt press the button and then throw MG coin off? Then what? Let's hear your "perfect" ending.

TY

Hmm valid JUDGEMENT but wrong. Loved AoT. Obsessed with it. Willing to revisit in two years or so and see how MY FEELINGS changed. But I get why people like it and don’t.

Laura

This season sucked lol the writing felt like chat gpt wrote it lmfao
