Alex Ramirez

Wow, how caring Mineta is to wait 10 years. It's sus that Koda didnt say anything.

Dub_quinn

Gentle is not my favorite, but respect for what he brings to the slice of life moments

JevCor

Even if you didn't you still did.

Alan

2:40 I have a butterfly knife that I brought with me my freshman year of college that I learned the first trick from and stopped messing w/ it tbh, and idr why but my roommate brought it out and did some shit I’ve never even seen with it 😂 he’d been practicing the whole time

Tivy

ilyk when I get there 🫡

Tivy

That funko pop is so epic

zak

Season finale is PEAK

Vernus

Knife was a sick gift. Goated community fr

cozo

cant wait for the season finale

Belly

ngl this is my first time rewatching this arc 💀

Abrianaaa 🩷

I’m glad you guys liked the funko pop! I look forward to all your future reactions to my hero! ☺️

Michelle

4:48 the facial expression of the one far right i can't 🤣🤣🤣

Alex Ramirez

I know but he's still better than Koda

Alex Ramirez

All Might's muscle form is just what All Might's appearance was before his injury

Tivy

19:35 — Yeah I’m pretty sure La Brava is in her twenties and Gentle Criminal is in his early thirties. She looks so young and he looks so old for their ages 😭

1999

that table is fighting for its life

Tivy

I honestly have no clue

monsterhead

gentle is such a breath of fresh air compared to how serious stain, the league of villains, all for one, and overhaul have been. i love him

Jack

But he was serious

Jack

lol, I know what you mean

Jack

It was awesome!

Jack

I think we’ve typically ended and simultaneously started the next season so idk

Sam Davis

They definitely are filler villains, but with a purpose

Jack

😂

Jack

Gentle Criminal misunderstood

Jack

Sucks that he chose the wrong path

Jack

But what can a man do in a world full of pressure

Vernus

Once again everyone looked at Cannon during Kota speak 😂😂😂

drewYRG

this makes me so excited for the later seasons

Sam Davis

Mei Hatsume is a valuable piece in the support course glad she gets her moments to shine

Vernus

Keep sharing your love and appreciation for them Cannon. The rest of them might not get it but you understand lmaoooo

alex anderson

I watched the gentle arc ahead of you guys, and seeing this again, it reminded me of what the dog person police chief said to todoroki, ida, and deku after the stain fight. "Are you saying that as long as it turns out all right, it's okay to bend the rules?" Gentle is the embodiment of the other half of that argument. It's probably a detail that gets overlooked, one cause people don't like the arc or two, because it's technically negative, but I find it interesting because it's a very realistic thing when it comes to people trying to be heroic in real life and things don't always go the way they think.

Sam Davis

Its all for Eris sake

Kinx

All Might was able to use 100% of OFA right away, then he built so much power that Deku has been struggling to use it fully, since season 1

Sam Davis

Aoyamas just different 😂😂

Sam Davis

Don't EVER underestimate All Might hes still HIM!

Mitch

Wow! Two double drops. Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Jude

By the way the wording of what Deku said in the manga was a bit different. I believe he said something along the lines of "This's been the toughest battle... ...I've fought so far, Gentle". Likely not due to the strength of his opponent but because gentle is probably one of the first villains Deku's fought that isn't straight up evil and has more humanity than any other villain he's fought so far and that made the battle tough.

Xyran

McKay, just push through till next season and we will be chillin

CiscoBane

La Brava Means/Stands for "Honey"

Marcus D

Jack’s clean with the knife 😂

Tivy

Yesss exactly. OFA is a stockpiling quirk so it gets stronger with each user. All Might boosted it so much that it takes even longer now for future users to fully master it.

snoobcat

Do whatever works best for you guys, as long as you're having fun and not feeling pressured while filming, we're with you!

Jack

Yes, exactly

Jack

Yeah makes sense

Tigerclaw

If they contribute towards the main story I don't think they're filler

Sam Davis

Hatsume coming in with the absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥 invention

botanbutton

Yes, Gentle is a pretty nuanced villain in that he's not really a villain. Throughout the episode you see how kind him and La Brava are. I like this season because it really starts to dig a little deeper into the question, "what does it mean to be a hero?".

Valde

A triple drop to finish the season on Saturday? 👀

Alex Ramirez

Gentle is an example of what could happen if someone who doesnt have their hero license uses their quirk to help someone in public. Gentle wasn't proficient with his quirk when he was in high school and it's what caused that accident. Remember back in the Stain arc when the police were reprimanding Deku, Iida, and Todoroki? I will say Gentle got much better with his quirk and he would pass with flying colors. He was just stuck on the villain path (antihero/trickster) because he was burned too much when he tried being a hero.

JevCor

Whattya mean, he doesnt gotta push through anything. You forget that season 4 aint over. I think its weird how some people in the comments act like this was some god awful arc, its like 5 episodes and they aren't even remotely bad.

TheBookerDeWitt

So called "mid" arc spawning the most in depth post episode discussion yet. Even when MHA misses it hits 🙂‍↕️

JevCor

It hasnt missed yet tbh ;)

Nashi

Makes no sense, why would he just shrink

TheBookerDeWitt

I laughed out loud at "you're sniffing glue" 💀

SuperChuckABoo

Gentle is Ben Simmons. Got all the talent, but just not there mentally smh

Zenitsu

Let’s go!!

Mr. John Kagurabachi

The Carter vs Cannon Stain moral dilemma conversation was really good. I hope this comment doesn’t come across as political but it’s the same vibe with Luigi Mangione. Killing is never right but the nuance is so interesting that opens conversations.

Alex Ramirez

Cannon clutched it at the end. Stain is a nuanced villain but killing people because they have secondary reasons for being a hero is still wrong.

FrostyMiniYeets

Episodes 23, 25, & Season 5, Episode 1 have after-credit scenes.

Tyler

thats how you guys will discover your next editor just a superfan who appears on your front step ready to work

Tyler

only time ill ever defend mineta, what he said to eri here was a mistranslation what he really says is far less creepy, still a bit creepy given its mineta. it was something like "look me up as a hero in 10 years"

JevCor

Less creepy than Drake somehow lmaoo, least Mineta is still a kid, Drake be doing it pushing 40.

stako

24 and 25 need to be watched together

jessiefungirl

43:28 all might. he carried all might.

JulioLG

Exactly. His arc shows other aspects of hero society, what that society makes for people that doesn't "fit in". Any similarities with real world society issues is (not) coincidence. Thats why I love MHA and why I don't think it's a kid's show... after a very shounen beggining (embodied by the epic All Might) the story continues to show much more nuances, you'll see.

JulioLG

You did and you didnt haha but yes you were objectively right IMO

Volt

He shrinks because All for One blew out some of his organs

Volt

He wanted to be famous, but that's not really a bad thing. His dream was just corrupted by mostly circumstance and him feeling like he had no other path to his dream. I'd say his main mistake is not fully realizing that La Brava is the best thing that's ever happened to him and understanding that his life isn't the same anymore and that it's never too late to chase your dream. Him and La Brava could have been the ultimate Hero couple team and went in the history books together but he was stuck on the wrong path

Tivy

1:01:00 — Yeah he didn’t mean Gentle Criminal was the most difficult to face in terms of physical strength, but because he saw the humanity in him and could relate to his journey. It makes it hard not to hold back. I’m pretty sure this line was worded differently in the manga.

Vinny Deluca

Your acting like they haven’t been loving these episodes lol

ginabella

"La Brava. Quirk: Love" these reveal is so epic, its one of my fav moments of this series. VA delivereddddd

Alex Ramirez

GROOMING?!?! La Brava was in her 20s when she discovered Gentle... Look up her character bio, her age is legal. She's just tiny like Mineta.

jessiefungirl

just realized gentle and i share a birthday ☕

Vinny Deluca

Well yes and no, he has def been building it for a long time and it’s def way more to control than when he received it. It WAS still crazy when he got it tho, his master and Gran Torino both make it very clear he was an abnormality and his body was uniquely capable of wielding OfA at its limits right away.

Dub_quinn

Stain and Gentle convos are super interesting, I love that MHA expands their villains viewpoints so you can see where characters are similar and different

JulioLG

10 minutes outro discussion speaks for itself about this arc being relevant in the story. Gentle's backstory IMO starts to show how meta/powers/quirks society deals with people that doesn't fit in that well, and the bad decisions sometimes people can take when driven into a corner with no support. Midoriya has a supporting mom, and the luck that All Might crossed on his path, that's why he empathized so much with Gentle, because he knew it could have been him (long shot but still could). Also I don't think Gentle wanted that "carve my name in history" thing when he was young, he just wanted to be a hero, the being famous bit I think he adopted when he decided to go "villain". And about the Stain's discussion I think I get Carter's point: Is not the same AFO than Stain, first is pure evil the other have a "reason" to do what he does. Should he act on it? Def no, specially if acting means to kill people (Cannon's point). Also Stain is not the same that Gentle who does very minor crimes, allegedly because he punishes abuse (like the convenience store, Robin Hood-ish) and he tries to avoid harming others. Back when this eps aired I had the same worry about how the story would continue after All Mights retirement, and this sociological approach surprised me and took the writing some steps up IMO. Cant wait for all that is coming guys (just bear it with season's 5 pacing please 😂)

Tivy

Just finished and you were fs right. I don’t think they even fully disagreed with you though lollll

jessiefungirl

idk i thought i remembered this arc feeling worse than s5 love the commentary tho

Valde

I know y’all are probably going to watch the first episode of s5 along with the s4 finale, but I’d highly recommend watching episodes 23-25 in one sitting and start s5 the next time. You’ll understand why ❤️

Cat

I feel like a lot of people ask for some slice of life episodes where we can see the characters just be happy for a while. And then when we get it, they get bored v quickly and want the big fights again 😂 Valid, I love action packed arcs but I also get that the show has to be realistic. Can't be fighting a new villain everyday. These teenagers need some downtime

86 LilaS

Here after a funeral. Thanks for making my day a bit better

Alex Ramirez

She's remembering a moment from middle school while she is an adult... People do that. Compare her appearance at the computer to that of her in her school uniform, she looks so much younger. Man has never heard of dwarfism.

stako

this is why mineta is the worst. i’ve been waiting for this episode bro 💀 bro casually says that to a little girl that just escaped daily abuse

jessiefungirl

they have to fill it till it goes beyond plus ultra

cara

“why is this becoming such peak?” “its always been peak” killed me 😭 exactlyy

kai

the gentle and la brave duo go hard asf 🤏🏽

Cat

Gentles backstory always makes me so sad. He had the best intentions and was underestimated by all his peers, just like Deku. I think that's why Deku empathizes with him so much. He sees their similarities and how much they both strive towards their dream. Deku just had a better support system and people that chose to believe in him. No one did that for Gentle until he met La Brava. But by then he'd already turned to villainy

stako

prob bc he at least has some redeeming qualities unlike diddyneta

M1GZ

Man Cannon is so based throughout the entire reaction and discussion lol

Lorenzo

Dont worry cannon, kota annoys me for no reason too

DietCocaine

Chill on drake ima get the 6 demons on u

Mdmarki

You guys should watch the next three episodes together and then return to the 2 episodes per drop for season 5, you will know why :)

IQLou

Diddyneta 🤣🤣

M1GZ

Not trynna be greedy but we may need yet another triple drop because ending on 24 is DIABOLICAL lol

Lexzc

La Brava literally means the brave/the brave one in spanish, specifically reffering to a female since the word comes in male and female variants (Bravo/Brava) ,it can also mean fierce and bold, her birthday is also on february 14 how fitting, her quirk is op as hell, imagine Deku with that buff, her backstory shows us more about how a person's quirk can affect their behaviour, shes like a Toga Himiko without the blood sucking and the murder desires.

Niko

peak is loading in so many different ways trust

Animeke

Gentle and La Brava are one of my favorite duos. It's so wholesome.

Frizen

Me thinking its not that bad what is she like 10 and Mineta's 15? Looks up her age.....Miineta WTF. They need to lock him up 🤣

Kim 555

lmaaao Jackson I heard that. I still stand on recommending that video. It was my intro to learning more about Runeterra's lore/facts which is the world of Arcane and League etc. It's also very entertaining and exciting cause while showing visuals and art it also explores the potential of experiencing it in a video game

Farfaraway

u know what else is DIABOLICAL? Your pfp dude

Connor O'Hara

I think after how dark the Eri rescue arc was, they felt they had to do something really light-hearted and fun. I don't know that they completely stuck the landing, but I do really like the idea that they have to fight to make Eri smile. At the time I kind of hated this arc because I was watching this show on release, one week at a time, and it felt like it went forever. On a rewatch, it's pretty cute and I really don't mind it. And don't worry, the season ends with some quick peak.

Alanin_8💜

I love Gentle and La Brava so much, their dynamic and not to mention his fight and talk with Deku

Marcus D

I was also drinking water when Cannon said the “sniffing glue” part 🤣🤣. Was not expecting that line

Keanu

I think that Stain's ideology is a lot simpler than you guys are suggesting, I might be reading it wrong but I believe that Stain's issue as a whole was the branding of what essentially is a new age law enforcement as "heroes". If you remember when Lida went off to find Stain he even points out that Lida is acting unheroically seeking revenge even though Lida is aspiring to be a "hero". I think he suggests that people like this are unworthy of the label because of how quickly they will act on their own self interests when confronted with tragedy. In a world full of heroes the title has lost its meaning when people like Endeavour, who have done terrible things, are applauded by the public. He did take this to the extreme however by attempting to eliminate all the heroes he thought were unworthy. But you have to admit that Stain taught Lida a very valuable lesson about being a hero, which carried on into the next arc when he wanted to stop his classmates from making the same mistake. So overall I do think it creates an interesting dialogue when basically anyone can be labelled a hero if they have the talent for it. Does someone deserve to be called a hero if they only do it for personal gain whether its fame or money? Will majority of humans when push comes to shove just act on their own personal interests? I don't know, those are just my thoughts, loved the end discussion!

Xeons

KIM OMG not you sending the knife omggggg! okayyy charli xcx sympathy is a knifee!!!

Navri

Please do a 3 ep drop next you wont regret it its peak

Ninjinzo

hindsight merchants gotta stop lmao

Poragami

we absolutely need another 3ep drop on saturday

Vextipher

I love Gentle's backstory so much. In the show where people are fed hero media and society is based around them, where the weak try to help and we see the valor in those who act to then see someone end up like Gentle. Rejected by family, shunned by society and cut off from what society deems the pinnacle of worth is an complete crash of all you lived for up until that moment.

Kasumii_

I love when your discussions get so heated I don't even remember why you's are arguing, they're always very passionate arguments and I can never completely disagree with either side cause you's all always make really good points. And I hate to say this after already getting 2 three episode drops but the next 3 episodes HAVE to go together lol

Videogamelvr

Agreed it’d be a crime if they did not do a 3 ep

BubblePriest

I want some Gold Tips Imperial Tea.

Levifold

Yeah, Stain is a fundalmentalist. For him, his definition is of a hero is essentially someone who acts selflessly in the defense of others because it's the right and moral thing to do, and do not expect anything in return. Being paid for that in his mind is selfish and falls outside his strict moral beliefs. Now we know that it's more nuanced than that - people gotta eat, and like it or not, it's a hero based society, and so they get paid, but for Stain who has very rigid beliefs, he is unable to accept that, and uses it to justify killing to improve heroes and society overall. Gentle and La Brava are almost an opposite in a way - they don't really hurt people if they can help it, and instead target crimes to the people caused by coorporations or society more broadly to bring more attention to an injustice, but with the added bonus of getting views and attention as "payment". They are still willing to fight heroes if necessary, and scare people or hack into things to achieve their goals, but it's pretty poorly executed overall, as it seems they mostly target individual stores, and for them, it doesn't matter if the attention is good or bad, just that they got it in the first place.

Ninjinzo

My take on stain is that his opinion on society makes sense and there’s truth to it. However his actions towards it were not good. He went through a way where he wanted to punish heroes because his ideals didn’t align with his. He was selfish simple. That doesn’t mean that what he thought about hero society is entirely wrong. There are definitely flaws in some heroes goals and to him it’s valid to say that they aren’t true heroes. But to kill them for that is just not the answer. However I also think the real reason why he went so far as to kill them is to show what his true ideals were about society and what it causes. But in turn even though it opened some heroes eyes about how they are doing their job, the majority of his ideals sparked upon the villains instead, not liking heroes for good.

Alex Mehmeti

In italian it means "the good one" referred to a female since the distinction between male and female words we have (il bravo/la brava)

Alex Mehmeti

After some slice of life peak, we are ready for another round of big fights peak

jessiefungirl

CHANGE UR PFP QUICK if cannon sees this he might tell the boys to delay the drop on purpose ☠️

Safaricat

I love Gentle. I honestly forgot about him until recently. He def wouldn't have saved that guy, the hero got repelled by the bounce shield thing and it was in the wrong spot to catch the guy instead it bounced the steel bar onto him after he fell....he shouldn't have gone out there without a license, he failed the test multiple times. it's sad but i feel like he spent his whole time at school not utilizing his power in the best way and learned after becoming a "villain" (he's more of an anti hero like Carter said before.) He commits petty crime against big corporation to make a point. La Brava was lowkey stalking but I guess she also wanted to feel useful since her quirk only works to boost someone else's so it makes sense why she'd be a bit obsessed with someone she loves. They make an amazing duo. Also Hound Dog is ALWAYS feral haha

Saggy

i know you blessed us with a 3 ep drop today but pls pls do the last 3 eps together

Golden Pants

As sick as it would be, I think the last two 3 ep drops were to make up for missing the weekend drop. God I hope they do it though. The peak is too peak.

Gingerpox

I always thought the point of this arc is to really show villains arent black and white. They reference that a lot throughout these seasons with Stain, Iida, and Gentle.

bondbond53

Mineta deserves to be burnt at the stake for that Eri comment💀

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

Episode 22 was really nice. I remember not caring much about this arc—except for the Eri aspect—until episode 22. Enjoyable mid, as Carter put it. Canon applauding Chisaki in the end of the Stain argument was funny. Also keep in mind, Stain was inspired by All Might’s heroism so it made sense for him to be that passionate in his ideology. Also please do a triple drop for next episode!! It’s the end of the season

SeiferJaeger

Ep 24 and 25 have to be watched together, so might as well do a triple drop

G

Triple drop needed Saturday ‼️🫡🫡

Mitch

Honestly I’d rather a single than a double drop just to finish off with 25. They 100% should not watch the finale then immediately start season 5. The finale is definitely gonnna have a peak discussion

Laundry

Watch JoJo's

M1GZ

STOP HATING MY GOAT HES A GOOD BOYYYYYY

cozo

how did mineta make it into UA but not gentle 😭😭😭 mineta just wants fame as well

HeyDaydreamer

27:29 lmao that cracked me up bc there's a hardware store in Japan called Workman

Coen

I need some insider knowledge on if a triple drop is happening im tweaking

McKay Carter

I think some people might be taking what we or I said the wrong way but we never said Gentle was mid or bad we simply argued that he wasn’t the “most” nuanced villain in the show or the best in the show. And to clear up what I mean by mid, at this point in this show everything we have watched is pretty much as good as it gets and has been incredible. We came off the best part of the show and one of my favorite anime moments ever with Lemillion, so I was slightly disappointed in this arc following that because of my high expectations from all of you for this season and for how good the season started. That being said Gentle was a wonderful villain and I did enjoy his resolve and backstory I just hold this show to a very high standard now and it wasn’t MY favorite. Super excited for the end of this season and all the PEAK moments we are about to see!

Miguel

I mean he is a villain for like 3 eps, he's not supposed to be great, he is mid and there's nothing wrong with that

IQLou

Cannon is locked tf in. Stain was more popular because his message resonated with people who were already violent and villainous. Without a hero license and with a terrible blemish on his record, Gentle can't physically become a hero, so it's not really as simple as "he gave up on being a hero." Despite being labeled a "villain," all his actions up to this point were stunts/pranks to draw attention to noble causes and get his views up lol. The school festival was a step too far for them that even La Brava recognized early, but Gentle's underlying ambitions to be recognized outweighed his active moral compass. Stain, on the other hand, was an irrational idealist who tried to force his vision of "true heroes" onto an already relatively peaceful society through violence and murder against anyone he deemed unworthy. He wanted to single-handedly reshape society through force and fear, a twisted mirror of how All Might shaped society through strength and hope. Instead, his "stronger society" message got corrupted to inspire villains he hated just as much as the fake heroes, because all they accepted was the "force and fear" part of his message while completely ignoring his actual societal heroic ideals. Also, I hope you guys are starting to realize how people's quirks can shape their personalities. And like Gentle mentioned, if La Brava's quirk and drive were directed towards a truly evil person after she got rejected by society for her obsessive tendencies, she could have become a very dangerous person and done worse things. Great reaction Geks!! I think MHA villains overall are a lot more nuanced than they seem :)

JevCor

I think the word mid has just somehow become = bad when its just meant to say it's fine or its all right. Not your fault, I think people just hear mid and wanna jump on it lmao

Mdmarki

Don't wrry McKay, as someone said in the replies, it is quite a prob that the word mid became a synonim of "bad", but all u guys opinions are good, hold on for the end of the season!!!

Mdmarki

Just as a fun fact, the creator of the manga horikoshi itself said that by this time the overhaul arc haven't end yet, so all of this is part of that arc too

Albin Limani

Gentle is such an awesome character man. Dreaming of being a hero, failing to pass the classes, failing to get the license, moving without thinking like Deku and failing resulting in him having to leave school, having a criminal record, being disowned by his family and being forgotten by everyone until he turned to villainy. Like, it shows how easily people can fall even when trying to do good. Midoriya could easily have turned out like this, but he had a great mom, met his hero and his life changed for the better. Gentle never had that. He just wanted to not be forgotten, no matter what the means are, he just wanted to be remembered. Also, he never actually does anything greatly criminal. He does not kill people, he does not really injure heroes, he always does crimes that can uncover shady things from the people or companies he targets, he treats La Brava like a queen, understands and sympathizes with Deku. Literally an insanely upstanding guy that was twisted by society until he broke and had no other choice but to turn to villainy. And once more, Eri is literally the cutest character in existence.

M1GZ

I agree with the others most people thought gentle was lame then came to like him. I’d say most people would place him as a more mid villain of the show when it’s all said and done but his story is still very good the word mid has just taken on a more negative light lately. As for the nuisance discussion don’t worry about it all baddies in this show are decently nuanced so it was a good debate.

M1GZ

^^ Nothing but facts

M1GZ

Yah I’ve always seen it as a singular arc to save Eri first her physically and then her soul.

M1GZ

Don’t ever apologize for such a greatly nuanced yap sesh

M1GZ

Because he got dem sticky balls

Albin Limani

Yes, Stain is right in parts of his ideology. Heroes being paid is not really the problem, the heroes only doing it for the money are the problem. Heroes getting clout and admiration and fame is not the problem, heroes that are only heroes for clout and admiration and fare are the problem. His actions though are wrong, killing heroes will not stop that. And targeting heroes like Iiida's brother who is really an upstanding hero is also wrong. The solution is a better system and better education. It will never solve the problem but there are really big parts of the MHA society that are flat-out wrong. Like for example UA making an exam that can only be passed by people that have destructive or attacking quirks. Shinso, having such a great and powerful quirk, could not get accepted in the hero course just because of the type of exam it happened to be. That could easily lead Shinso to become a villain. Then teaching people not to judge others based on their quirks. Not holding rankings like, which heroes look more like villains. You remove the incentives that make heroes selfish and you take one step toward achieving Stain's goal. It is impossible to completely reform society how he wants to, but he does genuinely have points.

Albin Limani

That was one of the best discussions you have had. I feel like people really overlook how nuanced the villains in MHA really are, especially Stain since he is present for such a short amount of time.

M1GZ

Considering how they made fun of her In school for being tiny she probably does have dwarfism

M1GZ

The Koda hate has gotten out of hand

McKay Carter

Oh I mean my yap session below

Albin Limani

That is exactly what he means. That battle was tough for him because he could sympathize with Gentle, not because Gentle was actually the strongest.

Albin Limani

They are not even close to filler. Not only are they canon from the manga, they are incredibly important to the development of Deku and the worldbuilding of MHA.

Albin Limani

Understandable, but just a heads up. Episodes 24 and 25 really have to be watched together. Still, whatever works best for you but from an enjoyment perspective there 2 are written to be watched like that.

Albin Limani

I have a feeling a change is going to happen very soon.

Albin Limani

There is nothing to disagree with. Stain is crazy, but he makes some good points. He also offers the wrong solution to the problem he is raising. That is what makes him such a good and nuanced villain to me.

Tivy

Dw we get you McKay. Honestly, I don’t think Gentle or this arc is anyone’s favourite, so it not being yours is totally fair. I just think the term “mid” has kind of evolved, and now people take it to mean “bad” even though that’s not what you meant. I remember feeling underwhelmed with this arc too. Personally, Infinite 100% was my favourite moment in the show up to that point, and this is fs a step down from that. Still, there’s stuff to appreciate here! (And yeah, Gentle’s a good villain but definitely not the most nuanced lol.)

Sam Davis

St. Louis smash!

Sam Davis

Love when Izuku ACTUALLY Kicks!

Sam Davis

Did yall not see my "with a purpose"? I know how this story goes trust that

Sam Davis

Gentle was a little bit more tamed than Syndrome. Syndrome was actually out here killing heroes to make his tech stronger

Sam Davis

Once you guys watch Vigilantes you'll see how the whole "Stain" Thing evolved

Danny C

This makes him such a unique character, and Deku’s comment was clearly put there to emphasize the mental strain these fights can be. Physically, yeah Deku easily overwhelms him a handful of times, but by continuously talking with him, he’s forced to essentially ruin his dream to save someone else’s dream (eri in this case). A lot of people give this arc hate for not being a classic shonen arc, but it completely fits with the narrative of Deku’s chracter. As someone who has finished the series, we’ll see just how important an arc like this is in the context of the greater story. Side note: Carter’s pure joy watching mha has been awesome to see

Guys omagod PEAK is on its way with GOAT by her side!!! GET READY

india holloman

Season 5 isn’t my favorite but it is essential to the plot of the show maybe more than any other season because it’s the direct lead up to the climax of the entire show. Every season is important to the story but season 5 is different. Again it’s not my personal favorite and honestly i remember the least about that season but I’m excited to get through it for the absolute peak that is season 6.

CatchyGhost

I think the validity of Stain's argument about heroes being paid instead of being real heroes comes into play in life or death situations. If someone is just doing their job as a hero in order to get paid, can you count on them to put themselves in danger, or sacrifice themselves to save others? To save you? Should you expect that? Also, since we call them heroes, there's a tendency to put them up on a pedestal. Surely someone who is a hero is a morally upstanding person right? We assign them value based on their job title. Honestly I sometimes wonder if MHA society moved to call them Supers instead of Heroes, would Stain chill out about it all lol

M1GZ

I don’t think so imo because stain was more than anything else an allmight fanboy who went crazy and judged those who weren’t as selfless as him as unworthy. As long as all might was around I think stain would have gone down the same path.

M1GZ

😡

Teraofmarcus

The hints in these episode are crazy

Marlon

It's peak but probably won't win a poll.... feels bad

stako

ngl 4x24 and 4x25 might be more important to combine than any episode so far

Alanin_8💜

It sounds so greedy saying this after we just got 2 triple drops in a row, but we need another triple drop. I'd honestly be fine if they did a single drop on Saturday and then did a regular double on monday if they can't do another three as it'd be diabolical to not do both 24 and 25 at the same time

Drew

This arc is ultimately the most important arc in the show as it really lays out the themes that come back in S7

Daveeed

Yeah, this show like others have to build up to make things awesome. Give a character or setting a chance before shitting on it.

StandedJosh

1:02:34 "She is very codependent" idk why that was so funny to me lol

I love the long outro and hearing you guys discuss the ideologies between Gentle and The Hero Killer. I felt like I liked Gentle a bit better after seeing his backstory. I know he didn't have good grades, but it sounds like there are current hero students that aren't the best at school. So he must have really crappy grades to not have got in. I'm excited for class A's performance!

86 LilaS

O blood type is the most common in the world which is a good thing since all other blood types rely on it so much. It just sucks for the O- people

Matt C

The IMDB for like 6-7 eps of the 2nd half has been rough, honestly valid if you guys used the word "bad". I remember Carter saying someone said s4 was the best season and I was like nah thats cap because I knew this last half was coming 😭. This part wasn't as bad for me since I binged through, but would definitely feel it more if I took breaks in between

user216612

Def need ep 24 + 25 together

Sickness

Yeah Gentle is one of my favorites. When he came out in the manga he was a favorite to a lot of manga readers as well. I think the anime dragging this arc out longer than needed made some people just generally have a bad impression of the gentle and la brava arc and some anime only people didn't care for them as much and they didn't really get what the arc and those two characters were trying to portray. I love a special moment that happens later on in season 7 that has something to do with this but no spoilers!!!!

Sickness

I think Gentle and La Brava are great because they are a switch up of everything we have had up to this point with villains. It really goes to show how one slight mistake or difference in upbringing can make a person choose a different path between heroes and villains. Gentle IMO is actually very nuanced. You just have to look at how exactly the author is trying to portray him. I can't type everything out myself since I don't have time but I hope some of these comments have tried to explain just what these characters are trying to portray and be within the overall series. In the overall series they are a big thing to take into account. You just have to know exactly how to look at them and come to a proper conclusion with them.

Sickness

IMDB? Who tf cares about that? That shit isn't worthwhile at all.

Sickness

For gentle it wasn't about being famous at first. Gentle got screwed over because the way the hero system operates screwed him over. On top of that his parents were failures and put everything on him and had terribly high expectations. After all the bad luck he decided he would rather just go down in history to prove he was something rather than just die a failure and be nothing. He wanted to go down whether he was a villain or a hero because society failed him. The reason why Deku said he was his toughest fight is because Gentle is technically Deku if Deku had a couple more moments of bad luck and bad parents in his life. Deku could have easily become jaded against society and become a villain. Gentle is the first biggest example in this story of how society failed him. This series plays a big role in trying to portray the flaws and complications in a hero and villain society. You will see even more examples of characters that were just set up to be villains because of the people around them and how society treated them.

cozo

they said on stream they already finished ep 23 and 24 but not 25 so they didn't watch the last 2 of the season together 😭 oh well

M1GZ

not happening apparently

M1GZ

I know y’all said you watched 23 and 24 without 25 but pretty pls just drop 23 by itself to get 24+25. 25 deserves its own discussion and going straight into s5 is just dumb im sorry.

M1GZ

I knew it the second they did the other two triple drops to make up for the missed drop that they’d use it as excuse to not give us the one triple drop everyone’s asking for. Like just pls read the comments, people will say im being greedy but if you say your only gonna do occasional triple drops why are you not dropping them on the only two group of eps everyone recommended you use it for? Feels like a slap in the face too all those countless comments telling you were to put em, especially when people are saying they’d gladly take a single ep reaction to get them together rlly disappointing tbh S4 deserved its own post discussion.

M1GZ

Im also praying for the single ep 23 drop

M1GZ

Well it ain’t happening

stako

might have to step in

M1GZ

Like actually idk what else to do lol 😂 literally hundred of comments asking for it.

Cat

I don't think saying it's dumb is very helpful. It's their decision what way they upload it and how many episodes they have time to record. Yes it might flow better if the end of season 4 are together but I'm sure they will discuss the finale either way. The show aired 1 episode a week and we survived

86 LilaS

They also watch a bunch of other shows, stream, and have obligations and lives outside of content creation. There’s just not enough time in the day for everything. I’m surprised they put out the amount they do because I imagine it’s not that easy to get multiple people together for hours at a time without some bumps in between.

Dio

That’s disappointing …. will be waiting Monday to watch then

Dio

It will definitely win at some point

Dio

Incoming everyone who is asking will be called ungrateful since we’ve had 2 3 drops in a row 😂😂

Cat

Exactly they have lives to live

Nick K

Remember that part of Stain's belief was we need heroes that are truly heroic and not acting for selfish reasons, like Iida was when trying to avenge his brother rather than save the hero in need. Villains can make good valid points, and heroes can be harmful. We see that with Stain who is doing terrible things but with what he believes are good intentions, and then with Endeavor who is being a hero and defeating villains but his goal is to be the best and overcome All Might to the point of even abusing his own family for his goals.

Matt C

It's not that deep, they probably just had more time to record for the previous 2 drops and not for this one

Matt C

Why are you worried about them not discussing the finale? Ofc they are going to talk about it, and its not like they need to spend like 10 minutes talking about one episode lol. Getting upset for no reason ngl

Tay

No shippuden?

M1GZ

That why im saying they don’t need to watch anything extra for us multiple comments want a single ep drop to get THESE specific eps together, hundreds of comments are asking for it idk why they would not when they know that’s what there fans want…..

M1GZ

And yes yes they do for a season finale they do need to spend some times discussing the finale and season as a whole. This whole going straight into the other season is dumb and no one wants it……

Matt C

I personally would prefer 4 eps between Saturday and Monday rather than only 3 🤷‍♂️. If they do a single drop people are going to find a way to complain too lol

Matt C

Who said they were going straight into the next season without talking about the prev season, they always talk about the season as a whole 🤦‍♂️

M1GZ

Exactly 😂 As if those triple drops wasn’t them just making up the two eps they didn’t upload

Cat

Just because there's comments demanding a 1 or 3 episode drop doesn't mean they have to do it. Their schedule maybe doesn't allow it. And they will still discuss season 4. Even if they watch season 5 right after. I don't know why you think they won't

Dio

To be fair M1 does have a point. Their discussion for season 3 was very short since they hopped right into season 4. although that was maybe just because there wasn't a lot to talk about. either way it’s not a big deal, but I’m sure people would rather have a reaction end on the finale so they have a discussion like every other show

Dio

"their schedule doesn't allow it" if what they said hasn't changed, you realize they are doing this full time?

Dio

"Gentle and La Brava are what I imagined MHA would be like before watching the show" 😂😂 I haven't finished the whole reaction, but you definitely did say Gentle was mid/bad (which is absolutely fine to think, it's your opinion)

Jamin

yo chat, when do we watch the 2nd mha movie?

Dub_quinn

Thank y’all for talking through Stain and Gentle! I understand Stain’s ideals better because he wants everyone to be a selfless hero like All Might, he even helps correct Iida’s drive (kind of a pun lol), but obviously Stain takes it too far. Gentle reminds me of what Stain hated (someone who isn’t a selfless hero, so not a true hero). Gentle immediately wants to save someone falling, but when he fails all he thinks about is himself, whereas when Deku fails (like when he didn’t save Bakugo from being kidnapped by the League), Deku doesn’t turn to think of himself but always has a heart for who he’s trying to help. I think Gentle is very real since it would be hard to think like a hero all the time and having failures is just relatable. But all that said it’s pretty amazing Deku gets recognized by both Stain and Gentle!

After s5

Albin Limani

It also just seems weird to finish a season and start another in the same video. Instead of having the season finale in it's own video. I actually do think it is better if they only drop 23 today and then 24-25 together.

Moon

I’m SO late to this video but I shall still comment my 2 cents about this small lil arc regarding Gentle and La Brava because I think it deserves a good analysis. The thing is, Izuku says that this fight was harder than any that he’s ever fought before, not because Gentle was the strongest opponent he’s ever fought, but because his story parallels Gentle’s to a certain extent. In both of their stories, they wanted to be heroes obviously for different reasons, but went about similar ways trying to achieve it. While Gentle was a few years older at the time, his reaction to a person in crisis was the same as Izuku’s. Like Cannon said, he moved without thinking, just like Izuku. But the difference between his attempt at saving someone VS Izuku rushing out to try and save Katsuki from the slime villain in S1 was that Izuku succeeded somewhat despite his reckless decision. While he did almost get injured because he had no quirk and couldn’t do anything, it was lucky for him that All Might was there. And All Might was a hero who COULD do something. And he did so in response to Izuku’s actions, because he was reminded of what the essence of a hero truly is during a time when he was weathered down from his injuries and impending death. On the other hand, Gentle’s actions sparked negativity that was directed towards him, his family and his intentions as a hero course student. His multiple failures at the provisional license exams and at school caused him to drift further and further away from his dream: to be a hero who can make his mark in history. In a desperate bid for change, or perhaps simply a desire that manifested from his well-meaning intentions, he intervened in a professional hero’s work and caused the person who needed rescuing to sustain even worse injuries than they would have had he just minded his own business or let the professionals handle the scene. What followed Gentle’s life after was a small glimpse of what could have happened if Izuku’s actions during the slime villain incident had not resulted in a 100% rescue rate and little to no casualties among the public and people involved in the situation. It showed one possible path that Izuku could have been shoved down, and the person he could have become if he had given up on being a hero like Gentle did. Of course, we as the audience know that would probably never happen, because Izuku’s motivations for being a hero are much more grand than just engraving his name in history. He wants to live up to the legend that he looks up to and worships. He doesn’t want glory and fame, like Gentle does. He wants self-recognition, a vision of himself emulating his most admired hero, and most recently in this season: a hero who is strong enough that no one would ever have to worry about his well being (Ep 2), a hero who can show others a bright future (Ep 22). The thing is, Izuku recognises that Gentle is a version of him that he could have become had he given up on being the kind of hero he wants to be. THIS is why he says that the fight was harder than any he’s ever been in. Because he was essentially fighting a version of himself that he could have turned out to be. He sees himself in Gentle, and that makes it many times harder for him to separate his personal emotions from those that are stirred up during the fight about UA, Eri and his classmates’ efforts. He doesn’t just see a villain, or someone he can defeat by disregarding their ideals and values. He RELATES to Gentle, just like how you guys say that Gentle is the most relatable villain we’ve had in the series so far. Which brings me to Stain. Because your discussion about Stain VS Gentle regarding nuanced villains was both very insightful but also hilarious. Stain’s ideology in itself wasn’t evil. He’s not a psychopath. He has conviction behind every action he takes. BUT, his actions are the problem. He uses violence and kills to make a point. And while it does work, it isn’t HIS place to dictate who embodies the true meaning of the title “hero”. Because if that were the case, any random person could just point at a hero who receives monetary compensation from the government as “a false hero”. Which isn’t always true. Like in the case of Iida’s brother. He was a genuine person, a good hero, def not as self-sacrificial or hero-like as All Might, but does that make him a fake hero? No! He’s doing what’s right, saving people and bringing peace to everyone’s minds through his agency and the work he does. But Stain still goes after him because he doesn’t fit HIS ideal of what a hero should be. Stain isn’t a particularly nuanced villain in that we can understand where he’s coming from and disagree with his actions, but we can’t really relate to him. On the other hand, Gentle is someone who is like any other ordinary person. He makes mistakes. He fails many times, in the past and present. He has visible flaws that affect how he turned out as a person. He’s emotional about the dream that he couldn’t realise and can’t bear to give it up even as a villain because he’s afraid of being forgotten by society as some no name wannabe. And that’s relatable. Because even if you take away the specific context of superhuman society, heroes and villains, these are feelings that can still be felt by people. By us, in the real world. It’s something people can be threatened by, or have been at the mercy of before. It’s real. It’s raw. And Gentle makes us sympathise with his situation not because he’s inherently pitiable or deserving of a second chance, but because he’s not a bad person. We see it in the way he cares for La Brava, the way he acknowledges Izuku’s determination to protect his school, the way he surrenders himself to security just to protect the future of the woman he loves. This is probably another reason why Izuku says that it was hard to fight him. Because he’s not evil. He has feelings beyond anger, hatred and malice. It’s hard to say that Gentle is a good person, considering he turned to villainy just to leave his name carved into history, but he’s far from as bad a person as Overhaul is. He understands empathy, he values moral principles, and he loves someone enough to give up his entire plan just to spare them from legal punishment. In this entire mini arc, people may hate on the slower pacing or the stereotypical goofy villain vibe that La Brava and Gentle bring, but their presence is not redundant. It humanises the villain’s side, and brings awareness to Izuku about the kinds of people out there who exist on the fringes of society. It shows us that villainy does not always originate from deep-seated hatred or a thirst for destruction. It broadens the definition of “villain”. Many people don’t see it, so I’m really happy that you guys do, and that Gentle and La Brava won you guys around at the end. I literally teared up during the scene where Gentle powers up again to push Izuku away and hugs La Brava. His words “Just go away like that, Midoriya Izuku. For the sake of her bright future.” not only circles back to what Izuku said about wanting to be a hero who can show people a bright future, but also La Brava’s words “Let go! What ‘bright future’?! Gentle is my only light!”. Izuku’s desire to be the kind of hero he wants to be doesn’t always apply, especially in this case when he has no connection with the person whose future is at stake here. He can’t show La Brava a bright future, because he’s not the one she wants. It’s an ironic twist on the kind of hero he said he wants to be, but it leaves a lot for discussion on whether Izuku’s hero ideal includes the futures of those who aren’t standing on the same side as him. Either way, this was a long fking essay, but I just wanted to provide some insight and build upon what you guys said during the discussion at the end. After watching MHA so many times, it’s always fun to analyse it with input from first time viewers. Thanks for the reaction Geks, and I can’t wait for the end of S4!

Imani Brooks

No, you can watch it in the middle of Season 5 or even after 4.

Tivy

Oh yeah ofc, I don’t disagree. But it fs wouldn’t be taking Izuku so long to hone it if All Might didn’t enhance it so much.

Betty H

Love the conversation at the end, and I'm positive it's a topic you guys will revisit it in the future. I love the writing that in this world, quirks popped out of nowhere and that society had to quickly adapt. Because of that, it's obvious that the system could always improve, otherwise there wouldn't be so many villains.

Ninjinzo

god damn bro how long u write this

McKay fighting for his life

Caitlin Cook

The debate at the end is interesting because this story is gradually showing that there isn’t this giant divide between villains and heroes, the characters are all people who have different outcomes from the current hero society. The show proves they are more alike than they are different, it’s really well done.

Moon

@Ninjinzo Ehh it took around 20 mins and was roughly 2.5 pages long

jrnoodles

Thank you! I like Gentle and La Brava. cute side story to the main plot.

Very interesting discussion at the end and i love hearing the different perspectives. I think a very good real life comparison to Stains ideology/reasoning is people that, for example, give a homeless person food or money and go about their day, versus people that give a homeless person food and then film it and post it on social media for likes. Its the exact same discussion where you have one that does it for an ulterior motive (money/likes/clicks) vs someone that just does it out of the goodness of their heart. You can have an extensive discussion about it being good or bad, but at the end of the day, the homeless person is getting a meal and money. People are being helped. So, as long as the end goal is the exact same, does it truly matter what peoples motivation is for helping others or being a hero?

Chlo

LOVED the long conversation at the end. It made me very excited to see your reactions to various things to come that I will not further elaborate on :^)

Moon

@Fatipapi (Endeavour's Wife) Then don't? No one's forcing you so you didn't have to reply at all actually

nat

“how many villains have we seen become villains because of the hero system?” oh cook with that question because it genuinely is what has pushed most people toward the side of villainy and i love that it is being questioned

Sara ˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀

Also heroes getting paid is not bad. Police officers, firefighters, etcc get paid. They still need to make a living. It all comes down to the heart, I mean like yea Endevour is/was trash but he still saves people = ppl not dying. BUT by his actions he effects others (i.e. his family- and since you guys have already watched the series *SPOILER*, Toya was effected by Endevour and Endevour's actions directly/indirectly ended up killing ppl (Toya is a murderer))
