One note for youtube: I feel like dropping uploads in 2 episode batches would be much better than multiple hour long uploads. Obviously the mid arcs will not get as many views, but separating the PEAK moments into their own upload would be easier for everyone. It also incentivizes subscribing to the Patreon as Youtube watchers will be even more behind. Even with low viewership on the mid episode batches, it helps maintain that core stability and is easier on the algorithm.

i love the direction choice of deafening the background after hachi was shot and all you can hear and see is red blood slowly trickling on the pavement. especially after hearing privileged racist pricks yelling how he’s just a fish or has fish brain trying to dehumanize him. at the end of the day we all bleed red, some people just chose to add more descriptions to divide people and establish an hierarchy based on wealth and race. i also love what arlong park did the the fishmen narrative so far, we saw the ripple effect of thousands of years of oppression and discrimination. (discrimination doesn’t justify violence but it gives reasons to explain the reaction itself)

Because we mostly see him using his devil fruit, but he makes sure to let us know we can still get faded devil fruit or not, like that punch scene with Bellamy in Skypeia 😂 One thing I love about Luffy is that he never gives a damn, he will speak his mind to anyone or punch not caring about your title. This is a longer take, but sth I noticed because of your end discussion: I think the reason we can call Sabaody (and probs later arcs too) “peak” isn’t just because of what happens there, but because of everything that came before it. The earlier arcs give us the perspective to fully appreciate what’s happening now: - Thanks to Nami's arc, we understand how terrifying fishmen can be in raw power, so seeing them as the oppressed creates a strong juxtaposition (esp when some of them perpetuate the same cycle of hatred against humans). - We grasp the corruption of the Celestial Dragons more deeply, because even the strongest people we’ve already established as monsters (ex. Admirals, Warlords) still bend to their authority. - We know how big of a deal it is to summon an admiral, because back in W7, Aokiji casually no-diffed the crew. - And someone like Rayleigh hits even harder because we’ve seen how strong Luffy had to become to beat CP9 and clash with Warlords. If he’s 100x as strong, then how much of a monster must Roger’s right-hand man be, even in his late 70s? That naturally makes us wonder about people like Shanks, Whitebeard, Garp, Roger, Dragon, and how terrifying their power must be. It's not really about one arc being "better" than another. W7/EL were a climax for the crew's story (their bonds, their growth, their ability to take on the world for a friend), while Sabaody feels like the climax for the worldbuilding. The story basically zooms out and shows us just how massive and terrifying the OP world really is. And thematically it all builds on what we've seen before: oppression (Arlong Park/Skypia), corrupt power structure (Alabasta), absolute justice (W7/EL). Sabaody ties all those things together not only on the island, but a global scale (like Kid said here). Each island and fight builds the necessary foundation for the next "peak" in my opinion.

This could be false, but I read somewhere that One Piece was the first or one of the first anime to use the black and white kind of manga panel looking animation. They actually did it earlier in their 6th movie (which i highly recommend checking out) which would later inspire a lot of other anime and and of course Luffy punching Charloss.

What I love about this punch is that Luffy didn’t use any gum-gum powers to tank Charlos’s bullet, and he didn’t bother naming the attack (as Jack pointed out). Celestial dragons are so pathetic that you don’t need haki or devil fruit to take them down, you just need the will to do it and this scene shows it very well

FYI/Reminder concerning Garp: During the Post–Enies Lobby arc when Garp visits Luffy at Water 7, we learn that the reason he’s still a Vice Admiral is because he always turned down the promotion to Admiral. More specifically, in the manga he said he didn’t want to be their “dog,” which implies he’s talking about celestial dragons, which is why he stayed at Vice Admiral rank despite being strong enough to go higher

Yes that’s what I’m thinking as well. They thought longer chunks would be better but I don’t think it is, especially for people who watch anime reactions. They don’t have any incentive to watch anything that long and a lot of people would just prefer watching a playlist of 2-4 episodes per videos. Bit late to the party here but I throw in my 2 cents as well. Just like everyone else said it’s definitely the upload rate on YouTube that’s screwing you guy’s a little bit. I loved your reactions so much and hated waiting a month for the next video that for the first time ever watching an OP reaction I joined a Patreon. So while the upload timing definitely will get you less views on YouTube it will get a few people like me to join the Patreon.

I love how this arc shines a light on Nami’s relationship with money. She’s literally obsessed with it, and it makes total sense—money’s always been her way of feeling safe. Her whole life kinda revolved around it. From trying to free her village to just… growing up poor. What really hit me was how she was willing to give up everything she had for Keimi. Like, she had just met her that day. And Keimi’s also friends with Hachi—someone who caused Nami so much pain. But still, she didn’t care at all. The saddest part for me is that Nami’s adoptive mom died just because they didn’t have enough money to save her. I can’t even imagine how it felt for Nami to be in that same situation again with Keimi—like, not being able to “buy” someone’s freedom. That’s just… heartbreaking.”
