humbleandkindness

Sneak peek for season 2 just dropped on YouTube today btw,, if Zoro is laughing more in that video than in Season 2 I may have to start a fight

Belly

literally. and i hope he tones done the vocal fry.

Vernus

My body is ready

Snowberre

Just when I am about to head to work! I got something to watch on bus 😎

Vernus

Usopp was done pretty nicely in the live action. I def like him more here than what I have seen of the anime

1nonlynox

i love seeing ur guys reaction to the live action, it get so much better too imo

Miitei

You guys are running thru this I cant keep up 😭

Elf

i started watching the anime becuase of the live action, that turned into me now being caught up in the anime watching weekly (get caught the f up already jack)

Vinny Deluca

that intro conversation made me think you guys might really like Dr Stone lol

Aaaaaa

Cannot wait for the next ep!

Qhoa

W

Aaaaaa

Same I didn’t think I’d like the live action, but it made me cry and since ppl say the anime is better I was like “👀 kay I’ll give it a try”

wanira 11

I'm so excited for next episode, it's my favourite of the live action

Marcus D

Jango is definitely not a filler character Jack lol, he even got a cover story in the manga that lasted like 20 chapters

1804

Mackenyu has a beautiful smile so I hope we get to see more of it, the way he rocks that green hair too, as if it was his natural hair color. I think S2 will be more fun and crazier for sure.

Promanex(Alex)

How axehand Morgan is super narcissistic and thought he caught Kuro is actually cannon, Jango hypnotized him to be that way. He even got promoted and people thought Kuro was dead. It’s a small detail in the manga and anime that people often missed

Elf

so true, it was crazy getting to water 7 i was so confused they didnt know about garp yet.

John D. Acebes

Forgot how the manga/anime dialogue went, but the Zoro/Kuina promise sounded a lot like a wedding vow. Makes the sitch sadder from that perspective

Spidey

Imagine one piece manga reactions like tokyo ghoul. jk that would take forever but yall should react to the cover stories when you get caught up. they are very short

wanira 11

The subtle Zoro gets lost jokes get me lmao

wanira 11

Merry just bit the dust lmao

Drakon

if they get eminem to play enel im not clipping my toenails for a year

xSaorix

the live action is making me get goose bumps of cringe LOL how do people like this actually?? Like I admit some parts are cool/okay but...a lot of it so just so cringey. The acting feels off even for the better actors (probably cuz of the directing?) and the costumes, yelling attacks, idk feels weird.

LeeJay

In regards to what you were saying at the beginning about Binks' Booze; Oda said in an SBS (Q&A section of the manga) that he worked with Kohei Tanaka (Music composer for the anime) to write the song a few years before Brooke even appeared in the story.

Riley

next ep is so good youll enjoy it for sure

Promanex(Alex)

Jango is not a filler character he was also in the manga, in fact Oda drew him in the cover story showing his adventure after syrup village how he met Fullbody and how they both became marine comrades and work under Hina

~Mercedeez Lee~

It IS based off the manga though, it was stated in the beginning of the first episode. Also an adaptation is not a complete 1:1 project. It’s another interpretation of the original work. So the dialogue or story will not be exactly the same. I have read the manga and watched the anime as well, the anime doesn’t go 1:1 with the manga either. So I don’t know where you’re getting that 99.99% accuracy from ? There are very much differences and quite a few. I won’t point them out though cause of spoilers

Flubbedsquid

YES, the Going Merry is a real ship, they straight up built it. However, the scenes with it on the water were filmed, of course, in a large pool, not the open ocean. But it absolutely can and is floating on water like a ship.

jrnoodles

Thanks! I forgot in the live action they did the Garp reveal in the Ussop arc.

Jude

Yeah it was an accident lol. Kuina lost to the opponent called Down D. Stairs.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

Idk I just think it’s really telling how One Piece fans think the live action is cringe and weird… But normies who never watched anime enjoyed the show a lot. I feel like it’s some kind of projection or something idk. Yeah the acting isn’t game of thrones but it’s fun. Let your heart be filled with whimsy bro

Mr. John Kagurabachi

They killed off Merry? That Pell mf dead as hell lol… good riddance fly low 🕊️👎

Hugh

So they did watch monsters and ryumas full name was revealed so idk if its to early to get into that lore cause the anime doesn’t get into that at any point if I’m correct, its just from sbs I believe, lemme know if I’m wrong about that.

Luffers

If this weren't goofy and a little cringe, it wouldn't be a faithful adaption. Who on Earth thought a live action of One Piece could be even good? I thought it would be impossible. Anime's tough to not make look goofy in LA. Remember Ed from Cowboy Bebop? I've seen bad adaptions. I don't think this is one. This was good. The kiss of death in most adaptions seems to be when they stray from the source material. This is close to the Manga. Unless you want to see Treasure Chest guy. Green Afro lives in a treasure chest. Remember him? I'd give the Oscar to someone who could adapt that not cringe.

1804

That was a fun reaction, thank you ^^

GBuckets

OP LA is still cringe, but the bar is so low that this is considered a masterpiece in the LA genre. People love this show because there’s really nothing else better out there

Luffers

In the anime I assume they are always knocked out. This I'm just assuming they are dead. They aren't playing in the Live Action

cozo

also possible she commited suicide but we don't know im pretty sure

Bri

McKay saying use your haki to Kaya made me laugh and yell shut up McKay lmao

Luffers

They were real sure that was CGI lol

Luffers

That Garp reveal was a fumble. If this show gets to Water 7 that would have been cool to see.

Murasaki

56:20 🤣 geks finally get some OP romance 👀

Matthew

Watching live action OP instead of … watching more OP </3 Watching 4 OP episodes a week means 180+ weeks before they’re current 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Jude

Yeah I've heard that theory before. But I'm not really convinced she would commit suicide soon after making a promise to Zoro one of the would be the greatest. Idk to me at least it seems weird that she was feeling hopeless then found new purpose by finding a rival in Zoro to compete to be the best swordsman then just takes her own life. But I do find it a bit sus someone like Kuina who was no diffing a young Zoro would just die by stairs

ahmad

Let them watch at their own pace man. Just treat the OPLA like a completely different show.

Picasso

One piece is an Infinite money glitch lol 😂 I’m never unsubbing 😂😩

1999

Yo Eminem as Enel would be hilarious. He has acting experience 🤣

sil 🧸ྀི

aww nami having fun with the crew <3

SavDog23

I've always viewed the Live Action as an alternate universe in the One Piece Multiverse. Oda's Manga is the canon timeline, then there's the Toei Anime, the Live Action, and soon the WIT Anime remake. So they are all their own versions of the same story in different realities.

T

I think the whole Garp reveal was partially because they didn't know if they'd get more seasons signed? Luffy having family as a marine is a pretty huge part of their dynamic, so I'd say it was a fumble but oh well

celery

Yeah the show spoiled the Garp grandpa reveal for me when I watched it on my own wish I had known 😔

Hegataro

They're also sort of adapting the Koby-meppo cover story (minus him meeting Luffy here, obviously). Plus I think without the Garp B-story, the episodes would either have to be shorter/have dead air, or they'd have to go all the way to Loguetown, which would be extra sets and actors and whatnot

Hegataro

Unlike the Cowboy Bebop adaptation, this at least doesn't seem embarrassed by the fact that it's based on a manga, which that adaptation definitely did.

xSaorix

First of all, I don't know exactly what you're talking about? I know it's based off of the manga...? Did I say it's not? And I have watched the anime a few times, and read the manga many times. Aside from censoring (resulting in minor story changes), pacing, and a little re-structuring of the story telling in the beginning (such as how Luffy got his scar), the anime is the same as the manga. There are NO broad changes. It's almost panel to panel (but with each panel stretched out). I haven't watched the anime after dressrosa and cake island, but I know up to there, it IS 99.99% the same. I'm not sure how this relates to my current comment though. Even though this live action is its own show, it is still weird and cringey to me. And thats OKAY? Why are people so ready to defend it? I have loved one piece since 2013. I've been reading the manga since 2015/16-ish. I'm not hating on one piece, I just don't like the appeal of a show like this

xSaorix

...? I don't really enjoy anime anymore either actually. I just read manga. What sort of projection? That someone DARE have an opinion on the costumes, acting, and tone of the show? I don't like stuff like Marvel, DISNEY, or whatever, that people typically like. Does that make a difference? Maybe. All that means is that I don't like these type of shows. Where everything is over the top and theatrical. BECAUSE I love OP, that's the only reason I would even think of checking this out. If I didn't, I wouldn't touch this show with a ten foot pole.

지원

I LOVE IT !

Hegataro

I think the reason Kuina doesn't come off as convincing in being confident initially is because after being told that "some day [Zoro] will surpass her", she's reminded of the fact that her father told her that she'd never be the best because of being born a woman - you can see her swallow and her demeanor change before replying with "maybe some day". This show is working with a lot of foresight, so stuff like that and Nami being more standoffish here than in the manga and anime has better payoff when you get the full reveal (when you haven't seen the manga and anime, obviously) Also the LA never tells you how she dies, but when going to Kuina's funeral, there's a shot that's intensely focused on the stairs, which almost feels like a nudge nudge wink wink to the audience And also during their duel, before the exchange which makes him lose his swords, Zoro enters the Oni Giri stance, which is a fun touch

Shaun V

wait until yall see Baratie. They actually did the setting so well, the sanji - baratie episodes are lowkey my favourite

Safaricat

Jango is a weird character already we met him with Kuro but then he went on to become a marine..... i don't miss him from this arc he was unnecessary. I love the changes to this arc it definitely raised the tension. Jack i said the same thing about Eminem playing as Enel. I'm still hurt that Jamie Lee Curtis couldn't change her schedule to be Kureha, she's always talked about wanting to play her and then she didn't have the time for filming T-T

greyxwaren

halfway through the video, but man, this is my first time rewatching the live action and seeing the zoro flashback made me realize how horrible it was. i hated it on the first watch but never thought about why. for one thing why did they think zoro being stuck in a well is a good place to do that? and the whole flashback felt like it was all done on one afternoon, there's no sense of time passing at all. the location being outside in a forest does not help at all too. they had such a large budget but they couldn't afford a dojo? i hate live actions of all sorts specifically because of greedy ceos who will keep stealing from the production costs and produce lackluster projects. the writing of the show is also terrible, and doesn't help when the actors line delivery is horrible too. young zoro, while he has potential, his performance as someone receiving the news to your childhood friend passing away and the reason for her death is a plain "accident" should be more than shedding a single tear and say "it can't be" and how he asked for her sword is also terrible. it's giving power rangers, heck even power rangers had better acting

1804

To me the Garp reveal always felt very out of the blue even in the anime/manga. It is true that in the water 7 saga we see more of the WG and how they work, like with CP9, and it makes sense they sent someone to go after the strawhats for what they pulled at EL and Garp signing up for that was the best possible outcome for the strawhats to escape due to Luffy being his grandson, so I'm not disappointed at the reveal to be there at all, it's just that to me it felt like a clearly humorous moment (although cool at the same time) and the LA to me gets a similar effect, besides as an audience you also follow Garp here along with Koby and Helmeppo so it's not so unexpected they decided to put the reveal here. I personally never thought it was a big deal.

Murasaki

I dont think its the adaption of the manga either. It's just a live action version. Plot and character wise manga and anime are very close especially in these early arcs.

Mahti

Also Merry did not get pierced by blades in the manga/anime, he got slashed across his stomach which makes him surviving slightly more realistic but still unlikely

Mahti

Jango was not unnecessary, he was needed to hypnotize Kaya into signing the papers plus he's an awesome character with his Micheal Jackson walk.

~Mercedeez Lee~

Edited your whole original comment lmao, you are weird for that. I pointed out nothing but facts against your original complaint ( that you conveniently edited out ) trying to have a go at others in the comments and say the live action isn’t based on manga, but they were correct cause it most definitely is. Also you trying to say the anime is 99.99% accurate to manga, which it is not. Instead of deleting your comment all together, you edited it and once again having a go at those who enjoy the live action at a different angle. So like I said, you’re weird & also come off as a hater too

JBVI

Still better than Nami's Clima-Tact weapon. 😅

Mimi

I really like Mackenyu in the role of zoro but the writers didn’t give him anything to work with. I hope they add some humor to his character in season 2.

Monkey D. Momo

Pretty sure Luffy's ugly ass shoes were due to security. Sandals i believe were just too unsafe on Set. They also were not stoked about it

Monkey D. Momo

I always assumed it's also due to himself already being such acool guy idol/actor in Japan.

saida

they're highkey my favourite and this rewatch is making me realise that even more

Sasha Ruple

Lol "maybe Jango is a filler character"

Monkey D. Momo

Kuina was killed by the 5th Yonko: Down D. Stairs. In the Manga and anime her father said she died by falling down stairs. I always assumed that was just some made up BS because she killed herself. It would sadly fit the story.

LaurAbroad

Finally the theme at the end 🫶🏼🏴‍☠️

relyct

I know everyone has their opinions and discussions in the comments are fun, but I really hope you never stop with your jokes Geks. I'm crying laughing everytime you quote some edgy Zoro comments ("sth black") and the way you shuffled through different names for the Kuro Cats? Sham and Scam? Bacon and Egg? PEAK!!

DietCocaine

Well they can still have garp pull up but everyone will just know he’s luffys grandpa

Mr. John Kagurabachi

Sanji highkey my favorite in the OPLA. He’s so underrated in the show. I think he perfectly brings the vibe of Sanji without making it too “outlandish”. Same like Mihawk and buggy.

humbleandkindness

Agreed,, I love that they don’t succumb to any pressure to be reactors that like everything they see,, their takes are different from each other and it’s so much more engaging to watch

Miitei

I'm finally caught up!! This arc in the anime has always makes me drop it, its sooo boring, but I enjoyed the LA take!

JBVI

Is there no ep 5?

Lettuce

Not yet 😭😭 there might’ve been a scheduling issue or sum but no one’s said anything

DietCocaine

yeah his live action portrayal was goated

Carter D. Andrus

Shoot guys I’m sorry I forgot to update you guys, we will be back with episode 5 Monday. We are still deciding between 2 or 3 eps per week, and my birthday made things difficult this week

Joy

Thanks for the update, Carter. Happy Birthday! 🥳🎂

cozo

happy birthday goat

humbleandkindness

Well, if I had to choose between an upload and my birthday, I would probably choose my birthday after maybe .02 seconds of contemplation. Happy Birthday Carter!

Nonos

All good hope you had a good birthday Carter!

Bella .M

When will yall drop episode 5?

John D. Acebes

My greedy ass wants to see 2 eps, but I'll cope just fine with the single

humbleandkindness

Not me checking for the upload like my dumbass will get to watch it while I’m working

smudge

me refreshing the page every ten minutes as I wait for my beautiful blonde man to show up

1nonlynox

lowkey my favorite reactions from them atm

Jon Smith

Idk why everyone acts like the Garp thing is a "huge spoiler," it isn't. It's revealed exactly the same way as it is in the anime/manga (as a shock), it's not really a "Spoiler" it's just changing where the information is given to us. The handwringing anime fans have with "YOU CAN'T WATCH THE LIVE ACTION UNTIL YOU ARE 500 EPISODES INTO THE SERIES, IT WILL -RUINNNNNNNNNNNNNN- THE STORY IF YOU DO" is completely overblown. Oda worked together with the LA team on any and all changes, which needed his approval, he understood that creating a parallel story for Koby this early on, with the advantage of knowing what they need to focus on in the series, to mirror Luffy's journey, was a good idea. It's a great way to get people unfamiliar connected to the story even more.

Angela 🌺

Yes, the ship is real. The sets are real, too. They went all out for this show. Look it up. There are tons of pics and videos on set.

Zipzzty

Stairguy

He actually said that he wanted someone chasing Luffy too I read somewhere. So Garp makes sense for that. People also have to come to grips rith not EVERYTHING is going to be in the LA. Like they found out in the next episode 😂 I'm actually really happy with how it's gone so far. They moved around some story beats sure, but it makes sense and all the important ones are actually there. This reveal was not an important one. I'm more curious about what else they will have to skip. Also, people always seem to forget the anime still exists..... You can just go back and watch it if you like it better 🤷🏼‍♂️. I'm cought up with both and I liked this better than the 44 episodes the anime covered..... 😬
