I always hate how recap-y first episodes are in anime, but it’s because most people watch it live on Japan, not like in Crunchyroll LMAO. I fully agree that the recap was a bit too much, but if they renewed for 12 eps than it makes sense. For comparison Chainsaw man cover in 12 episodes 4 volumes, MHA has only 3 more volues until the end so they have a bit more space than they need.

I saw loads of complaints online about the recap at the beginning, but I really wasn't bothered. It made the fight feel more complete and together instead of starting mid fight and also makes sense considering s7 ended over a year ago, not everyone rewatches stuff beforehand because they know there will be a recap. I also saw loads of people moaning about invisible girl at the end?? You don't see anything at all and there's been plenty of half nudity in this show already so I don't see the issue 🤣

Stain’s ideology has been such a big part of the show the last few seasons, that and the fact that ever since he got out of jail, he has been standing in the shadows, only listening and observing, the only time he actually comes out of hiding being to spit absolute bars. We haven’t really seen him in action since his fight with Deku, Shoto and Iida. It all made me think of him as some all-knowing wise being just there to spread his knowledge and that he was done fighting physically. But he is called the Hero Killer for a reason, he is an amazing fighter and big threat, it was just so easy to look past that with everything else he’s done for the show. Like I completely forgot that he even had a quirk, his words felt impactful enough on their own. AND that his quirk is literally powerful enough to freeze All for One. Idk, it was all just so surprising to me it made me pause like “Wait a second—I forgot you could do that”

I didn’t read the manga because I wanted an element of surprise, I know the big stuff that happens though. I guess this episode made me realize there is a lot I don’t know, which is really exciting because I thought I’d experienced all of it. "When is he going to use Hawks' quirk?" - I don't think he can even if he wanted to McKay. Hawks' quirk when stolen was already almost useless because of how badly Dabi's fire damaged it in S6. Hawks was only able to keep up with the battle because of how well he used the remaining feathers he had. For All For One, it's basically nothing. He can't use it nearly as well as Hawks would have been able to because he didn't train with that quirk all his life. Rewind treats his stockpiled quirks as external, meaning only his physical body is being rewound, so any new quirks he gets won't be rewound to their former glory. All For One only took Fierce Wings because Hawks kept getting in his way when he was trying to go to Shigaraki.

You know, I thought the same thing when the scene cut from All Might to Aoyama. But when they repeated the "People flicker on and off like a light" I realised the connection was that Aoyama and All Might both have had moments where they feel guilty about their inability to be proper heroes. Their lights went out because Aoyama believed himself to be a villain the entire time he was working as All For One's spy; and All Might's light went out LITERALLY because he lost One For All and thus his ability to be a hero. But now, they're both confronting their situations and forcing their lights to return to them. Like how All Might is crouching over the remains of One For All's ashes and looking for new ways to be a hero without his quirk (while also believing that his lost light will be passed on to someone who comes after him), and how Aoyama being on the verge of death unlocked a higher level of his quirk. Their lights have returned in both their stories, which is why they're scenes are entangled together. God I love the writing in this show when it does this shit.

Stain teaming up with All Might was a diabolical cliffhanger I can't believe he jumped into the fight AND he acknowledged All Might when before he was denying All Might's identity to his face. This is just proof that Stain knew all along that All Might was the skinny, dejected guy who came to wallow in his own regrets and guilt at Kamino Ward after the first war was over. Back then, All Might had lost sight of what made him a hero. It was never his quirk. His master, Shimura Nana, gave him One For All BECAUSE he was who he was. It was his ideals, his principles, his philosophy and hopes for superhuman society that convinced her. It was his qualities of heroism that did it. One For All only allowed him to realise those convictions. Without One For All, he thought he automatically reverted back to being nobody. Just a regular guy. And while he is one physically, All Might found his essence again when Stain talked some sense into him. And now, Mr All Might deranged fanboy is here to save the day by helping the only hero he sees as embodying the true spirit of a hero. And I'm so here for the team up. Knowing Stain's quirk, I'm so ready to see what happens next.

All the pull ups from characters that were introduced in past seasons, from all the way in S2 even has been so iconic. I love how Hori yanked them straight back into the story in situations that TIED BACK INTO THEIR STORIES. Gentle Criminal and Lady Nagant coming back in to help the boy who brought them back into the light and showed them the way. And then Stain coming back to help All Might after displaying WHY he was the Symbol of Peace. It's such a treat to witness these seemingly inconsequential characters play a part in the final arc and battle against All For One and Shigaraki.

From the opening we got at the end of the episode I can say that it's mostly spoiler free. Most of it has to do with AFO vs All Might (before Stain jumps in) and generic Shigaraki and Deku fighting. The only thing I can see being a spoiler in the opening is how battle torn Shigaraki and Deku get. So you guys could do an opening reaction if you guys want.

I’ve seen some manga spoilers so I had a general idea of what was coming, but I did NOTTT expect Stain to come back into play! The way they brought him in is so cool. His ideology has influenced the entire series, so bringing him back is actually perfect. What a clutch move. I’m glad there are still twists this season that can surprise me.

They’re both really good, and in the last few episodes of Season 7 there were small references to them that you wouldn’t have noticed since you haven’t seen them yet (so yes they are canon lol). Hawks said a bit ago that it seems like the quirks are treated as external so they're not factored in to the rewind. I guess its because they're not fully part of him to begin with.

They addressed this a couple of eps before, Hawks said it when his quirk got stolen i think. All the quirks he stockpiled are considered as something external, and they don't get affected even if his body turns back in age. Probably like a relationship between your wallet and your body.

I'm realizing that this patreon has a time limit. Most probably come here to rewatch shows with the boys, because our first watch will be on a bigger screen. Once they have caught up on all major anime, then all that will be left is mid anime and ongoing. I just don't see the anime group growing after that. Ever since season 2 ive been waiting on Stain to come back and ever since AFO started going to Shigaraki i was hoping Stain would come in clutch and either die saving Allmight or helps him in his fight due to how op his quirk can be,outright being able to stop the demon lord on his tracks with a drop of blood is huge,i theorize he either dies saving Allmight or he kills AFO so Allmight dosnt have to "stain" himself with AFO's blood,either way im excited. For me, it makes sense that he still has the quirks he’s stolen since that something he’s gotten through the use of his quirk. All he’sdoing is getting younger. Him rewinding shouldn’t affect his quirk, especially since quirk factors are something people have most of their lives. It sucks but it make sense, at least to me that is.

I totally agree with Jack. That was way too much of “recap”. They typically shorten it with a few new angles of scenes but that was just an unnecessary rerun. And it’s not necessary because of how long it’s been. Most people stream it. I just rewatched the last episode 😭. But besides that I couldn’t be happier. Hakagure popping in out of nowhere to literally cook that assassin was awesome. Allmight using versions of all the kids quirks, so cool. And finally the Stain wild card dropping in *chef’s kiss. So satisfying. I feel really good after this episode.

I guess a way we can think of it as that AFO’s originally quirk is a bag, and all the other quirks he’s acquired are stored in that bag(original quirk). So as long he has his original quirk the rest of his quirks won’t go away and since AFO was born with it, none of the quirks will go away until he dies/reverts to nothing.

Yes back then there was more to watch, but you’re acting like they’ve watched every big series under the sun which is just wrong. There are so many in fact that there are massive series that they have started and never finished,(Breaking Bad for example) presumably to pick up later. You’re probably not even including the massive overseas shows, movies and music that absolutely grind numbers here like kdrama and kpop. Then theres also the people who are just now discovering the yt everyday that have an entire 3 year library of content. Finally, about the votes, isn’t that literally indicative of a large community of people, all with different preferences? If their show loses a poll they can always unsub and come back later. Reality is that the only “time limit” is when they stop recording.

Okay. So for the ANIME FANS LIKE MYSELF, my comments correctly applies. Reading is an important skill, but useless without understanding. Even for new fans, after they rewatch everything worth rewatching to them, all that is left is ongoing and mid. Therefore, there is a time limit for every anime focused fan here. We are all just on our own time, mine is after Black Clover and Frieren unless something changes. (Bigger twitch screens, proper mics or no yelling, and some kind of new series, like a D&D campaign or community games, something fun)

Yeah it makes more sense for them to go extinct, but I also think that has a low chance as well. I was thinking (and this is mostly just extreme and silly so dont take it seriously) that Shigaraki and Deku fighting would cause both their quirks to go so out of control that it somehow destabilizes the quirk singularity and cause a sort chain reaction. So to go more in depth basically, Shigaraki's body is still adapting to both All For One and his own quirk, Decay. I don’t think his body is truly 100% complete yet, it’s still partially unstable, which I think is due to his mental state (losing his identity and AfO trying to take over). Currently, he is fighting a battle that will push him to the absolute extreme against his natural enemy, Deku, who has fully awakened One For All, a quirk that is essentially the exact opposite of Shigaraki's. When these two powers collide at their absolute peak, pushing both their bodies and quirks beyond their limits, the collision will generate an incredible surge of energy, something so vast and so dense that it disrupts the very "flow of energy" around them or even as big as Japan. This disruption could trigger a chain reaction that affects every individual with a quirk factor, the thing responsible for the change in DNA to allow someone to have a quirk, completely void or I guess become dormant.

Tbh I guess I’ll be the only person who is actual HAPPY that they recapped the way they did. Literally my only complaint with s7 was that it ended in a weird spot and sorta cut off the hype from the all might fight by cutting it off like that. So when they replayed it for the first bit of the ep but cut up in a way that was quicker with a new ost I was so happy I agree with Cannon real easy to say this stuff when you rewatched the episodes literally 2 days ago. Many reactors I watched didnt even remember so the casual audience definitely needed it too and now we get the full complete fight in s8 with no interruptions. Also the anime only has 33 chapters to cover this season like Cannon said they know what they’re doing with the pacing so I don’t wanna hear a damn thing from a one piece fan 😂.

The difference with One Piece is that it’s a weekly show, so they use recaps to avoid catching up to the manga. But MHA had a whole year to prepare for the new season and still opened with a long recap, unlike the previous season, which didn’t have one
