I love the conversation between Robin and Will. I love how Will is finally accepting his sexuality and accepting who he truly is. His love for Mike and his family made him gain his powers. I have said that I do not want Byler to happen, but that’s only because I just don’t see them as a couple more just as best friends plus I don’t think that Mike sees him that way anyway because he still loves 11 and I feel like it’s been that way since season one. But Will’s love for Mike is truly beautiful to me. The fact that he’s willing to die for Mike, he doesn’t play about Mike and I absolutely love that and Mike doesn’t play about Will cause that’s his best friend. so I genuinely I love their friendship more than anything.

OK here are some of my final predictions / thoughts since you guys wanna read some of them : 1. Someone from the core four is gonna die 2. Johnathan / Nancy is going to die and the ring is gonna be given or mentioned to Nancy at that exact moment 3. When Vecna dies, no more powers for Will since he is channeling Vecna. 4. The shape in Henry’s telescope that Holly found looks oddly similar to the cave Max is hiding in, might be the reason why he’s so scared to go in? 5. Will’s official coming out + Mike’s acceptance 6. Mr. Clarke was teaching Erica something about wormholes that help you travel through different dimensions, so if Max and Holly are allegedly behind the wall, maybe using these might be the way to reach them ?? 7. Erica admits she’s a nerd

In my opinion, a lot of people misconstrued Robin's words to Will when she mentioned Tammy Thompson. She was talking about how her feelings made her feel guilty and hate herself. She wasn't talking about Tammy not loving her back. That's why she later on mentions loving herself. Also why would Robin tell Will that he has no chance with Mike? She doesn't know how Mike feel to do that. I'm also not gonna forget her screaming dick while looking at them... why would she do that 😭 My biggest argument is that Robin was in the same situation (season 4 episode 8). She saw Vickie with her ex boyfriend and thought she had no chance. Steve had to bring her back and remind her about the tape being rented ahead of the boyfriend's visit. And then Steve talked about having hope. Why would someone that went through something like this tell Will to just give up without even trying to talk to Mike? That doesn't make any sense. People are also forgetting about the painting that made Mike smile from cheek to cheek. It's been 18 months of them living together, what happened in all that time? Does Mike still believe that painting was Eleven's idea? If it doesn't come back around, then it's stupid. I want to remind you that they filmed that scene for 12 hours and it was only 3 minutes long.

Ok here’s my personal analysis : Concerning the speech, for me it was never about “getting Mike”, but it was about Will figuring out who he is and learning to accept himself. Robin said sometimes it’s not about the person you’re in love with, but what that love teaches you about yourself. I think Will loving Mike was a part of his journey but not necessarily the endgame. Also making Byler happen in my opinion would take away from that growth, because it turns his whole storyline into “getting the boy” instead of making him becoming confident in who he is.

GUYS huge prediction hear me out on this one. So if you look at the episode’s list, episode 7 is called the bridge. If you look back at episode 3, Mr. Clarke is in class, teaching about wormholes and the Einstein-Rosen bridge. In theory, it’s the idea of a connection between two different points in space (dimension). At one point when he asks why wormholes are interesting, he talks about how such BRIDGES could allow matter to travel between galaxies and dimensions without crossing the space in between. I think this episode means this is how they’re going to figure out how to get through the wall and reach Henry

It could be both, I don't think him being with Mike would take away from his growth. Ok so we learn that Max is hiding in a cave, inside of Henry’s deepest memories. But Henry is scared of it and doesn’t want to get inside. If you look at the shape of the cave, it’s the same as the lens of Henry’s telescope from the boys scout that Holly took. In the play, we learn that it’s actually a cave in Nevada that he explored as a child where a scientist on the Nevada Experiment had equipment that could teleport matter to Dimension X (the Upside Down) . Henry accidentally got transported to Dimension X before being banished there by Eleven, and when he was there he came across the mind Flayer and that’s how he got his powers. Now, if you look at season 5 episode’s list, you can see that chapter 7 is called “The Bridge”. In episode 3, Mr. Clarke is teaching about wormholes and the Einstein-Rosen bridge. I did some digging and it’s the idea of a connection between 2 different points in space (dimensions). At one point, Erica talks about how such BRIDGES could allow matter to travel between galaxies and DIMENSIONS without crossing the space in between. A bridge to another dimension ??? My theory is, what if the bridge was the wall in the Upside Down? If they pass through the wall, they pass through the bridge, and reach Henry’s memories in the cage of Dimension X, where Max and Holly are hidden. Also Holly’s character in DnD, Mike tells us Holly the Heroic could open dimension doors, Holly might be able to open the bridge, which can explain why she’s the only one of the kids trapped inside Dimension X.

I have a lot of thoughts about this season so far, and they are SO conflicting. I keep wondering if anyone else is having this strangely divisive experience. There were things I genuinely loved, like Mike stepping back into his leader role, Will and Robin’s dynamic, Derek (he's so iconic), the improved action sequences...But above all, the heart of vol. 1 was Will’s journey. Watching him move from someone who depended on others to soothe the parts of himself he couldn’t understand, to then fully embracing every piece of who he is and finding power in that acceptance was just…beautiful. His storyline carries one of the most meaningful queer journeys I’ve seen on modern television, and it easily became my favorite part of the season (so far 👀). But even with all my love for (most of) episode 4, a lot of the rest felt unexpectedly underwhelming. I found myself struggling with certain choices, like Jonathan and Steve slipping back into their rivalry from season 1; Joyce and Hopper repeating old patterns of overprotectiveness; yet another Hopper death fake-out; or the way Dr. Kay feels like a reinterpreted version of Dr. Brenner. And one of my biggest icks… the lack of real consequences for the main characters. The show grows darker every season, yet the stakes rarely seem to touch the characters we’re following. For example, Vecna is framed as this merciless, sadistic force... so why is he impaling someone’s face one moment and then, seconds later, gently tossing Joyce (for his standards) into a car? I’m still hoping there’s an explanation for why he let Will go in that last scene, because without one, it just makes our villain look… stupid. And it’s not that I wanted Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler to die, but isn’t it expected from their interaction with the Demogorgon that at least one of them would have been fatally injured? If the show is going to stage scenes like that, the consequences need to reflect the threat we’ve already seen, or else it flattens the sense of danger the story depends on. Either way, I still see a lot of potential for the second part, and I’m hopeful that some of my gripes so far will fade. It really feels like they’ve saved most of the emotional weight for the final stretch.

Their friendship has always been my fav since s1. We finally got a chance to see how they met which was the cutest thing ever. I can now see why Will likes him more than a friend cause Mike has always cared for him and put him before all until el came. Mike has been there for him since day 1 it makes since on wills part to fall in love with him, trust him and die for him. I had question the duffers having Will crush on Mike but I understand why. We know Mike is never leaving el and that’s who he should be with but I hope to see in volume 2 will coming out to Mike and Mike embraces him and be there for him as a best friend. I don’t think they’re endgame either, but nor do I think Mike and Eleven are. The general audience expects the main couple, Mike and Eleven, to end together. However, Millie said that whatever you think the ending is, it’s going to be the opposite of that. Mike and El being together would be too expected. Mike and Will wouldn’t, and it would be a plot twist. A plot twist in the sense that most people don’t think it’s possible, not that it doesn’t make sense. I don’t see how Eleven and Mike would end together after how they ended in season 4. Also, they only got one scene together, and then they were separated, with the focus only on Mike and Will in volume 1. The last scene of Will seeing memories of him and Mike raised suspicions for me. Their first memory together and them playing DnD for the first time. Meanwhile, Robin’s memory was of herself. I saw people saying that Mike is Will’s Tammy Thompson. That comparison belittles how Will views Mike and their relationship in general. Tammy Thompson was Robin’s class crush. They weren’t close like Mike and Will, who knew each other since kindergarten. Robin said, “I knew then and there that she’s the one.” Will would never say that because he grew up with Mike. You know who said a similar thing, though? Mike. When he was professing his love to Eleven in the season 4 finale, he said, “I feel like my life started that day we found you in the woods, and I knew right then and there that I loved you.” I think Eleven is Mike’s Tammy Thompson. He is the one who put her on a pedestal, saying, “I’m just a nerd who got lucky Superman landed on his doorstep.” He doesn’t put Will on a pedestal; he uplifts him using DnD terms.

Honestly so far this season is really cooking. I really liked the addition of Robins character in season 3 and I think it totally delivered here with the moments with Will. My only gripe is I hope the Steve/Jonathan/Nancy love triangle gets resolved soon and idc where it ends because I was tired of it the moment they brought that storyline back.

I'm so late to this but decided to watch along with you guys and this was so fun what a semi-finale!!! Kali's back (i thought they had El's mum too for a sec), Will has powers which we need cause i don't think El can stop him by herself ngl especially cause he's gotten more powerful as he takes more kids. I really liked Vol. 1 a lot, i loved the group's dynamic like they were all split up so each charcater could shine in their own way again but also working together it was such perfect mix. I did feel like military/ Dr Kay's plot was a little convoluted and they just needed some human villians again (Dr Kay was definitely temu Papa it was such an eyeroll) but that one take of the demogorgans killing the soldiers was so peak idc lol. I actually like Dustin's character development him a lot, him taking on Eddie's personality a little, being broody and having an attitude compared to the other seasons it's something different and thank goodness they made Robin relevant again (i did not like what they did with her in season 4). I knew they needed to connect her with Will because of their sexuality hence why she was still alive and it paid off very well. I have high hopes for the next two volumes i just hate that we have to wait 😭 Also when that guy got stabbed through the eyes by Vecna i legit slapped my eyes like he did it to me (lowkey hurt myself 💀)

Cant really call it a retcon simply because we didnt see it. We've seen multiple people go into the upside down and be taken there by force by a demogorgon. No one else came out of the upside with the slugs he was coughing up and "now memories" hes had since the beginning of the story. He also was forced into the upside down by a demogorgon and was not killed by the monster. Was everything planned since the beginning? Who knows, but they were careful enough to have everything fit together. So I can't put the retcon label on this since it wasnt just a change of the plot because they came up with something better. I am positive though that the demogorgon was not the big villain of the whole story from the beginning, they were definitely planning something bigger than a simple monster flick.

My theory is, that Vecna did it on purpose. Vecna was probably anticipating it. That HAS to have been what he was doing to him in the beginning. Will absorbed powers from Vecna, and maybe Vecna couldn’t activate it himself so he waited for Will to do it idk. Or he’s just a cocky bastard😭. Also my explanation for Vecna not killing Joyce is that Vecna needs Will, and killing Joyce would set him off, and not in the way he would hope. We’ll have to see!

mike is/was terrible at communicating his feelings but his actions towards el have been clear from jump. mike loved el the moment he saw her. he didn’t know she even had powers and was already nurturing towards her. he crashed out on hop in season 2 for hiding her…season 3 crashed out on everyone else about “using her for her powers”. he loved her when she lost her powers which was that whole season 4 argument they had and how it ended with his speech during the finale. i don’t think the question of whom he is in love with is up for a lot of debate tbh. and i agree about the ending…definitely feel like we got some sacrifices coming by the end. going to be brutal!

And at that age, every relationship seems like “true love”! I’m not saying he doesn’t love her — not at all! Elle is such an empath i love her, tears up at all the emotional parts same as me. Also to all those who were saying she's sus this season should put that to rest. They watched it pretty much live so little chance of her knowing things beforehand. They've all been making random predictions all throughout. And some of her predictions have been wrong but its just that when she's right she's totally spot on. Probably helps that they binged all seasons back to back so all the plot threads are fresh in their minds so better deducations. Vecna probably left Will for the demos (sorry guys) to finish off? Like he wanted him to see his friends die first and then they'd come for him maybe? Anyway excited for vol 2.

watching this was genuinely so surreal, i just finished today.. and tbh i thought mike and els love story was surface level and never really compared to max & lucas or joyce and hopper. and he emphasized heavily on her superpowers throughout the show, he didn't describe her like a lover. he simply thought she was cool and powerful compared to him, which is kinda why im assuming the will & mike situation MIGHT work out. or at least a little. also i think vecna himself underestimates wills integrity and finds him to be weak, which is why he left him at the end. he tells will he is weak, and probably has no idea he can control his goons. I genuinely do think a main character will die this season, and im guessing it will be will lowk.. considering he is attached to the hive mind now, he probably will end up sacrificing himself!!1 and i also think he is way stronger than el, because he actually paralells vecnas powers, not els.

When I first watched the early seasons of Stranger Things, I never saw Mike and Will’s relationship as anything beyond friendship (at least from Mike's POV). It resembled a lot of platonic dynamics I recognize in my own life. But after season 4, when more people started discussing the possibility of romantic subtext, I became curious and paid closer attention during my rewatch with the Geks. Looking at Mike through the lens of someone struggling with his sexuality and trying to perform heteronormativity does make some of his season 3 and 4 behavior feel more coherent. Certain scenes even include imagery that could support that interpretation. That said, given the Duffers’ history with inconsistent character writing and unresolved plot threads, I’m not entirely confident that this reading was intentional or that they would commit to developing it, especially with only four episodes left. My skepticism isn’t about the theory itself, but about the writers’ commitment and ability to handle it convincingly in the very limited time left.

They usually come back and revisit certain elements of the story. Like look at Number 8, we haven't seen her since Season 2 and they brought her back. I think going by Max's interaction with Vecna's memories, the scene in the school where Joyce is trying to get everyone to attend the play Henry Creel is in, he might've known or had a crush on her. Point is, it's no way they just added that scene in without expanding on it in the next Volume.

Also Winona Ryder and Robert englund are not the same age so I don’t think they would’ve went to the same school. Hey Kim 👀 I had to come here because I swear you are the biggest Will and Mike truther in these comment sections, and honestly, I think you helped open my eyes to some of the things that might be coming our way. Tbh, I was a skeptic in the beginning. The first time I even questioned anything was during season 4 because of that extremely intentional and suspicious final shot that felt way too much like foreshadowing (you definitely know which one I’m talking about). But after watching Vol. 1, I thought, “Okay, they’re not going down that route,” especially after Robin’s speech. I interpreted that scene as the writers signaling that Mike’s role in Will’s journey was simply to help Will understand and accept himself, nothing more, and something Robin ultimately guides him toward. However…after rewatching it again, I can also see how that might have been intentional misdirection, something meant to make the audience settle into a conclusion so that a later twist hits harder in part 2. Especially since there are still interesting pieces of symbolism and dialogue in Vol. 1 that point in that direction (like the pipe leak, the flirting signs, etc.). The most baffling one for me is the fact that they apparently reshot the scene where the Demogorgon throws Mr. Wheeler through Mike’s room because they wanted it perfect, and guess what? He goes straight through Mike’s closet. Completely obliterates it. That kind of deliberateness takes time, money, and intention. You don’t spend resources to stage something that specific unless it’s meant to mean something. And if we’re talking about Robin’s speech specifically, there’s also some evidence that could point to the interpretation you mentioned in one of your comments. Robin’s speech should primarily focus on Will’s self-acceptance, because that’s an individual journey that doesn’t rely on Mike. However, I do see how the Tammy parallel might not be about Mike at all. In season 4, the directors clearly paralleled several Will–Mike scenes with Robin–Vicky moments, so it got me thinking...why establish those connections in season 4 only to reverse them in season 5? Unless the Tammy comparison is actually meant to reflect Mike and El, like you said (I did see the similarities with Mike’s confession to El in 4x09, which I find to be an interesting choice). Now, all of this could end up meaning nothing, and maybe the writers only intended the monologue to be read at face value. But the parallels are still there, and it’s hard not to wonder whether some of it was intentional. And honestly, I don’t think Mike and Eleven are meant to be endgame. Their strongest dynamic was in season 1, and after that, they never really learned how to communicate or understand each other’s emotional needs once they became a couple. Plus, in my view, El’s arc is much more about self-discovery outside of her powers and rebuilding a sense of family after growing up in the lab. Mike, as he is now, doesn’t help her grow in that direction. It also fits narratively since she’s paired up with Hopper, and now her “sister” has been reintroduced to the story. Mike and Will’s arcs, though, feel much more intertwined. They bring out the best in each other. Mike is often the one giving Will confidence throughout the series. “Sometimes people need someone to believe in them. And then they can do amazing things.” I know Joyce was referring to Derek, but it’s not a coincidence that they immediately focus on Mike and Will’s conversation where he encourages Will to connect to the hive mind (something he actually manages to do later in the episode). And Mike, in turn, is at his most empathetic and leader-like when he’s with Will. His strongest “leader era” was in seasons 1 and 2, when his entire emotional drive revolved around protecting or finding Will. In seasons 3 and 4, he’s flattened into El’s boyfriend, and that’s a big part of why he became the least liked of the main group. So to me, their arcs evolve because of each other’s presence, whether that ends romantically or not. But if the show does choose to explore the possibility of Mike being queer or even reciprocating Will’s feelings, there’s already more than enough groundwork and visual symbolism to support it. Some of it is subtle, sure, but it’s there. I didn’t catch a lot of it either until they made it more obvious in season 4. Now, my hesitation isn’t with the potential…it’s with the Duffers. They aren’t bad writers, but they’re inconsistent. They have incredible highs and some baffling lows. I’d honestly be impressed (and happily proven wrong) if they committed to this storyline, especially because doing so would require them to take all those subtle clues and make them unmistakably clear to the general audience with real sensitivity and care, and all within a very limited runtime. They’d also have to be prepared for the fact that not everyone will be convinced, because let’s be honest: a huge part of the resistance to this idea comes from plain old homophobia. So yeah, it’s super risky. But… if they actually pull this off, it would be bold…and it would also deepen the show’s core message. Stranger Things has always been about outcasts, misfits, and “freaks” finding each other and creating a place where they finally feel like they belong. And what a better reminder that the real supernatural power is love, acceptance, and the courage to be seen for who you truly are?

i'm not sure the creators have ever spoken on the subject, but i can totally see how the mind flayer/vecna are used as allegories for assault. i remember some of the lines billy had in season 3 when he was possessed, like “it will all be over soon, just stay very still,” and they can definitely be read as references to assault.

First time I watched this I was confused with Vecna showing up, slaughtering everyone and then leaving but after a second watch it made sense why he did it. Vecna’s plan was failing. His demogorgens were being defeated and the kids were escaping. He came thru to make sure his plan would succeed. He left Will alive cause he probably never thought Will would be strong enough to take control of the hive mind. Remember out of all the kids in Hawkins Vecna picked Will first cause he thought he was the weakest. All in all he came thru to send a message and complete his plan which he did but leaving Will alive was his mistake
